You know, sitting here reading all of these posts, seeing treads about Mathis being #2 and Morency challenging DD for his spot, is almost too much. It's not even TC yet and we've already written off Bradford, made P-buc this all world corner, gave up on Todd Wade playing LT, and have been on a roller coaster ride of emotions with our opinons on DD. I know it's fun to discuss possible starting line-ups and who's job is on the line this year. But when you start putting rookies ahead of guys that have proven themselves in this league for years, that's where I have a problem. Mathis' and Morency's NFL player cards are still in the mail and were already put them in the starting line-up or have them starting by mid-season. It's funny because none of us are at practice. We don't know what's going on. All we get are weekly reports and they're usually on a new guy thats finding a way to adjust to the system and life in the NFL. I'm not trying to be a buzz kill, I'm just saying I think we should wait atleast until they strap on the pads before we start passing judgement on some of these players.

Overranking the new players and underranking the established guys is not unique to the Texans fans. Part of the reason the draft, FA, and the preseaon remain popular is based on the hope for the new guy.

But when you start putting rookies ahead of guys that have proven themselves in this league for years, that's where I have a problem.

Here is my philosophy as it regards to rookies starting. Bradford has "proven" himself to be a medicore #2 WR opposite AJ. Mathis has not proven a thing yet, but he definitely has more upside than Bradford. So do you develop a rookie for the coming years and give him valuable playing time, or let a veteran who could not find a new team use that PT while a rookie watches from the sidelines? It is an old question and nobody knows for sure.

DD's situation is a little different. Morency is like a faster DD. Its an upgrade in that respect. DD has also been hurt and has had fumbles at key moments in a few football games (I noticed Capers keeps RB's on a short leash when it comes to fumbles.) So if Morency secures the ball and stays healthy in the preseason against 1st string starters, then the big question is do you ignore his obvious talents to be loyal to DD? If I were the coach and I wanted to win I would put me best players on the field.
