Jordan Najvar, TE, Baylor

Pollardized

Division Champ
All mock draft experts on TT, this guy is my banker's son, so I started following him last year. Baylor throws to WR a lot so Najvar does not have big reception numbers. He can catch when he's utilized though. He's an unbelievable blocker with great TE size 6'6" 265 lbs, think he ran 4.78 40 at some point. With his blocking skills, and the training he will undergo pre-combine, if he runs great routes and his measurables are great, do you see him being drafted?

The Texans could use another TE, OD is getting up in years and Graham so far hasn't shown to be much more then a poor man's OD which means he is especially bad at blocking. Haven't seen a lot of Griffen but I get a Dressen feel from him and given how little the coaches seem to use him outside of blocking I think having another TE around would be in the Texans' best interest no matter who is running the offense.

Don't know if he'll be drafted or not but the Texans do need another TE. Not sure if OD will be back and Graham might be a FA this off season. Najvar sounds like a player to keep an eye on.

If i see us draft another TE at the expense of another position of need......:brickwall:

With OD coming off injury, Graham a FA, TE is a position of need. Texans have never been the same or as quite as good overall at what the TE position requires since Joel Dreessen left. The Texans have taken a step back at TE in recent seasons. TE plays an important role in the rushing game and the Texans having been missing the blocking role Dreessen played. It was never adequately replaced.

Here is the nfldraftscout.com profile of him: http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=90236&draftyear=2014&genpos=TE

They have him as a 7th round/FA prospect. He was injured a couple months ago and missed a month or so. I watched him last couple Baylor games I could catch on TV and his blocking is exceptional from what I can see. His frame and speed are comparable to Gronkowski, with superior blocking skills. His dad said he will be going to train with the best to get ready for the combine. He's a smart kid, originally went to Stanford, already graduated.
