Jonathan Dwyer arrested for DV

As the NFL continues to reel from the controversies surrounding Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice’s domestic violence charge and Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson’s indictment for child endangerment, reports are coming in that yet another running back, this time Arizona Cardinals’ Jonathan Dwyer has been arrested for a domestic violence-related incident.

It is really starting to look like Mr. McNair's good character policy was way ahead of its time. The last arrest of a Texans player was in 2009, iirc.

With the growing momentum of the league not tolerating this behavior, arrests could eventually have as big as an impact on the game as injuries.

Don't be surprised if the Arizona Cardinals have a zero tolerance policy for Jonathan Dwyer since he's a backup w/close to minimum salary.

Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer has been accused of domestic violence stemming from an incident with his wife, according to Tyler Baldwin of 3 TV in Phoenix. That report says the fight with his wife happened “a while ago,” but she kept records of her injuries.

Why now?

Schefter

Cards RB Jonathan Dwyer is being booked into the Maricopa County Jail on 1 count of aggravate assault causing a fracture, 1 count aggravated assault involving a minor, 2 counts of criminal damage, 1 count of preventing the use of a phone in an emergency, and assault.

This is ****ing unreal already.

Here we go. The witch hunt is on. Grab your popcorn and 3D glasses.

Let every player now be on notice that any opposing fans can trump up a domestic violence charge and the NFL will act before the investigation to appease the 'guilty upon accusation' crowd.

I would hope that a LEO and/or DA would have to have evidence to support an investigation.

An investigation no but an indictment yes. Marshall's chasing unicorns though. The gears of the machine don't move that quickly and they chew on the complainant as well.

While initially the sole victim was thought to be Dwyer’s wife, according to a report from the Associated Press, officers have identified the victims as including both a woman and an 18-month-old child.

18 mos? OK that's f'kd up.

Having said that, I don't think any of this reflects upon the NFL and they should back the hell out of the whole deal. This stuff is on the individual and the criminal system. If they're guilty the system will hit them. There is no need for the NFL to act as judge and jury before the real ones do ao. What they are doing right now with a semi happy medium is as much as they should do.

Well, he's not completely wrong.

LEOs are trained to arrest men after the woman calls the cops, whether he was defending himself from her, or if he even if he didn't assault her at all - just on her word.

The NFL would get wind of it, suspend the player, and launch an investigation.

Without any evidence.

I have no intention of chasing Indian Rhinos. But the NFL is not waiting even on indictments before acting. They are responding to accusations.

You understand an indictment is an accusation right? AP and Dwyer have been indicted. Hardy has been convicted. Who are you talking about?

The media is changing the subject in order to draw attention away from Ferguson.

Anything a Black male is ALLEGED to have done is treated as if he's the most villainous monster on Earth. Meanwhile, a Caucasian quarterback allegedly raped a woman and gave an underaged girl alcohol, yet he isn't so much as suspended from OTA's. The media gleefully reports he got married in the off-season.

Ray Rice got married too, yet no sympathetic coverage. Don't fall for the Jedi mind-trick.

This is why it's important to understand history. They could not defeat Jack Johnson in the ring, where if was man-to-man. So, they had to fight him using their rigged societal mechanisms like courtrooms and media.

They do the same to all Black males they feel need to be "humbled." They will say many things about my words, but their historical pattern of action, when of comes to strong Black men, speaks for itself.

Jack Johnson
Muhammad Ali
Mike Tyson
Michael Vick
Plaxico Burress
Floyd Mayweather
Kobe Bryant
Tiger Woods

Notice how dominant the Williams Sisters have been in tennis, then look at how the media coverage treats them. When you read Richard Williams' autobiography, you will see the same pattern I just laid out, all throughout his book.

If you want to make a political point that's fine, but do it in the NSZ.

Folks, please don't go off on this here. If you are so motivated, copy him and start a thread in the NSZ.

Didn't Roelisberger get suspended before an indictment was even handed down? (Roethlisberger was never indicted)

Rice, I totally agree with you on. His wife doesn't have a problem, (She probably provoked him or she would've had a problem.) the judicial system ran it's course and that should've been the end of it.

But God'ell bowed to public pressure and now we sit where we sit. (A panel of 4 academian women sitting on a board to shape policy. Yeah that's going to be good for the NFL.) I wouldn't have a problem if some current/former NFL wives were on the board to shape policy.

Bottom line for me is God'ell has screwed this up just like he did Bountygate. He's screwing up the game with his liberal way/inconsistent way of administering punishment. Have you ever noticed that his punishments usually benefit Mara/Kraft/Biscotti?

God'ell is ruining the NFL with stuff like this, the rule changes, London etc.... but the owners don't care as long as they're able to stuff their pockets with $$$$. That's is the problem more than a race problem. IMHO.

I will say that God'ell is unfair to black players. But that could have to do with the % of black players in the NFL. To me this is more about God'ell favoring certain teams. (Giants, Mara) (Pats, Kraft) See: the Spygate (Kraft) Collusion ruling against Jones and Snyder. (Mara)

John Mara is certainly not like his dad Wellinton Mara who did what was best for the NFL and helped the NFL grow in popularity. John Mara is all about the $$$$ and God'ell is his biggest ally.

To be honest, I'm not even sure what his point is anyways.

To cause drama and say the white man keeps the black man down, he does it in every thread I see him post in, its annoying and idiotic.

The NFL can and should be doing this. If I got a DUI I would lose my CDL and instantly lose my job. No reason NFL players shouldn't have high standards to abide by.

If a supervisor at a big time company is alleged to hit women or children you bet your ass the company puts them on leave and determines whether to fire them. Its part of the job......the NFL is full of role models for kids and they need to be held at high standards. How hard is it to not drink and drive and to not hit women and children? Seriously how ****ing hard is it?

Athletes as role models for kids?

Maybe that's where the problem lies.

Personally for me sports is nothing but entertainment. So I could care less what players do on there personal time. As long as they play well on Thursdays/Saturdays/Sundays.

Who are we to judge other people.

Being in entertainment thats all you get is judgement, thats part of being an entertainer. And like it or not our kids look up to athletes, singers and actors. They want to be like them (for the fame and money). Kids with poor parents are not there to teach some of those kids right from wrong, so when a role model does something stupid the kid thinks its ok. But it isn't. If these players can't handle being responsible adults they shouldn't be making millions. They should be flipping burgers until they figure out how to be respectable. Thats all they deserve.

...
Police records indicate the incident began at about 8 a.m. on July 21 when Dwyer and his wife got into an argument. Police say Dwyer tried to kiss his wife and remove her clothing. The woman told Dwyer to stop several times, police say, and bit his lip when he wouldn't. Investigators say Dwyer then head-butted his wife, fracturing her nose.

Neighbors called Phoenix police to the couple's apartment near Baseline Road and 48th Street, records show. Dwyer's wife told police she and their 17-month-old son were the only ones home and she had been arguing with a family member over the telephone.

Investigators say after police left the apartment, Dwyer's wife fled the home with their son. She returned when Dwyer sent a text saying he did not want to live anymore along with a picture of a knife, records show.

Authorities say Dwyer punched his wife in the face the next day when another argument ensued, records show. Dwyer also punched walls before picking up a shoe and throwing it at their son. The shoe hit the boy in the stomach.

Witnesses told police that Dwyer's wife told him she was calling the police, records show. Dwyer took her cellphone, threw it from the second-story apartment and fled.

That same night, neighbors heard Dwyer's wife say he had hit her and that she was going to call police, according to court records. Residents in the southeast Phoenix community helped Dwyer's wife pack her belongings and she fled Arizona, according to police. She reported the incidents to the Phoenix Police Department after she arrived in another state and felt safe, according to police.

As with many DV cases (including the Rice case) violence was mutual, with the woman initiating the violence. Not surprising.

It does not sound like she initiated it. She asked him to stop kissing and undressing her, he did not, so she bit him. Seems reasonable to me.

She initiated the violence, like I said. You can't walk away? Whatever.

By the way, there's no way in hell that it was a normal relationship. It has to GET to that point, which means they probably should have separated way before.

That is assuming that she was able to walk away. He could have been holding her down or up against a wall, or could have been standing in the doorway, thus preventing her escape. And if that were the case (which, while I have no proof of such an event, I believe is likely), then I think biting him was warranted.

But yeah, I agree with your second statement. Does not mean she deserved it, though.

I'm pretty sure that when you are trying to force a woman to take her clothes off, you are initiating the violence.

LOL ... if you want a racially charged post, we have a poster for that. If you want an anti-semitic post, we have a poster for that. If you want a misogynist's point of view, we have a poster for that. If you want religion rammed down your throat, we have a poster for that. It's getting to the point where I wonder if they're deliberately making caricatures of themselves.

Stupid earth people, you've had millions of years of evolution and yet you still can't even live with your own kind. Don't think for a second we haven't noticed.
