Jon Weeks, greatest snapper in NFL history, signs 4 year extension with Texans thru 2019. Sic 'Em Bears!

Load off my mind. And some of you were being doubters.....tsk tsk

Jon Weeks' four-year Texans contract extension is worth $3.9 million, including $250,000 signing bonus, and $80,000 of his 2015 salary gted

Jon Weeks' base salaries are $825,000, $825,000, $900,000, $915,000 and $930,000

For snapping a ball a long ways......

Can't speak for other long snappers, but weeks is actually pretty good covering punts along with being pretty much automatic with his snaps.

I believe that many of you are overlooking not only the importance of having had an "automatic" long snapper that makes no mistakes for so long. An elite long snapper definitely won't single-handedly win you games, but a bad long snapper can absolutely be a big reason why you lose games. Anyone remember Bryan Pittman??

Now, there is that much more reason to recognize Weeks and reward him with a long-term extension:

This year, the NFL announced the extra point will now be kicked from the 15-yard line with two-point conversions remaining at the 2-yard line. The new rule also gives the defense the ability to score two points on returns. According to the rule change, if the defense returns a blocked extra point or failed two-point try for a touchdown (i.e. on an interception), they will be awarded two points. Under the previous rule the ball was dead on a failed try.

So, yes, now it has never been more important to have a strong "silent" type snapping that ball for us.

Hmm, remind me again, who is this Jon Weeks guy you speak of ?.......I don't remember his name being called in any games ?........Must not be important..............Who is he?

This move has ruined our salary cap situation.

I could manage this organization better than these jokers. SMDH

I was serious... A good long snapper is like your garbage man. You don't notice him until he stops doing his job. I like it, Weeks is a solid dude, someone post the pic of him riding the golf cart like a boss and we're winning the superbowl!

I'm happy for this guy. You have to appreciate playing all of a few minutes a week (game time) and setting up a retirement fund.
I snapped from high school through college ball and actually had an opportunity to go pro.. well, I guess, had a few scouts talk to me about it. I just didn't want to if I couldn't play D as well. Clearly I was very foolish. Anyway..
Extremely important gig as has been pointed out, and often unappreciated.
Continued success, Mr. Weeks.
