LB coach Holland leaves Bills for TexansAssociated PressORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - Buffalo Bills linebackers coach Johnny Holland has left the team to become linebackers coach for the Houston Texans.

Holland was hired by Buffalo only this past week by new Bills head coach Dick Jauron. He had spent the last three seasons in Detroit and was the Lions linebackers coach in 2005.

"It's an opportunity for me to go back home and be close to my family," Holland told The Buffalo (N.Y.) News.

Holland, 40, is from Houston, and his parents, brothers and sisters still live there.

Interesting twist. Great LB at A&M, and I remember his HS days at Hempstead but quite honestly I haven't been following him much since his playing days at GB. Was Harvey Williams (LSU - KC Chiefs) on that same Hempstead team or did he come later?

Hummmmmmm, seems to be the trend to bring all the "homers" home! Maybe all you VY fanatics will get your wish!:)

There may be something to that.:stirpot:

While you can't base your picks solely on "homerism," it may be a factor. When you have quality players VS. quality players that live in Houston and WANT to play for Houston, who do you go with?

Just like if you have qualified coaches VS. qualified coaches who live in Houston area, who do you go with. A person's desire to be w/ a certain organization goes a long way towards their success IMO.

Seems like Kubes may have a little Mack Brown philosophy (i.e. keep the best players from Texas IN Texas.):yahoo:

Are we (the Texans) fixing to get sued if the name "wrecking crew" gets brought up in a sentence at Reliant?????

:spy: :stirpot:

I am surprised there hasn't been any sarcastic remarks about Kubiak hiring an aggie. You know, some people on this board think there is an "anti-UT" conspiracy going on with the Texans...

The Texans can go ahead and take the Wreaking Crew from us for all I care because their defense was actually better that ours this year, and that is saying something.

Back to the topic at hand.. has anybody heard any rumors about who the DLine Coach is going to be, and are their any updates on the Sherman front.

I'm actually, not a fanatic of Bush or Young. But w/ all of these homeown guys coming back to coach here, makes you wonder if they'll say lets get the hometown QB. I've heard that Kubiak is a friend of one of the UT offensive coaches. Not sure if they've spoken yet, but suely if and when they do VY will may become more appealing to him.

Either way, whatever the team decides, I hope it pans out and turns into more wins, playoffs, and championships.
