Now thats comical!!!

I only heard part of it and he was talking about Vince backing up Carr unless he was traded. I had to change the channel. You would think he could add something new every now and then.

Ahhh, true, but man love is a powerfull thing in Broke Back journalism.

McClain has become such a doddering old fool, I feel sorry for him. I wish he would retire. But then again, I have no confidence in the Chronicle to hire anyone better. Justice and Lopez are even dumber than McClain is.

One would think in a city the size of Houston, we would have good sportswriters at the main newspaper. Perhaps the Chronicle is too cheap to attract anyone with a triple digit IQ.

yea thaz pretty funny but wat is it with this guy and vince
A theroy of mine.

Vince hires an agent and tells him he wants to be a Houston Texan. If he can make that happen he will give the agent a little extra from the thirty five million signing bonus he would get as the overall number one. If young gets drafted #1 his agent stands to make millions off of his comission's. The agent then goes to the local media to convince them to start writting positive articals and riveting material on how Vince is a can't miss. Giving the contributing sports writters a kick back if they could help this poor kid full fill his dream of playing for his home town.(Lets just say 500k a piece) Justice and McClain would then use there talk shows and articals, knowing the pen is mightier than the sword, and convince all the home towners he is the footballs version of Jordan.(Even though they spent the last six months saying that about Reggie.)

That being said, I do think they Texans will draft Young. Then trade him to the Jets. I know what you are saying, thats crazy! However if the Texans are thinking of trading down, but are concerned about VY playing for your division fo, wouldnt the smart money be taking control of the situation and trading him to a team you wouldnt mind him playing for? Yes Bush would then go to the Tittans but a RB life span is only about 5-6 years then the talent starts to drop off, as apposed to a QB who's lifespan is 10-15 years. I do think if we trade with the Jets we get there #4, Abraham, and this years second. We then turn around and draft williams. That would be an impressive front four, Abraham, Johnson, Smith, Williams. Should be, three of four would be first round picks. Not to mention having the first and fourth pick in the second where we could get a TE and OL.

Thats just my wackey theroy.

I am up here in Indy now and the latest rumor is that Jerry Jones has contacted Loomis and Benson about their two..................they offered two ones and a two...............who does he want.............VY. I will be dropping stuff over at titanscentral for the length of the combine................

Thanks for the rumor bongo. I think teams try to trade with NO instead of us.

I agree with Vinny, the only way someone will trade with us is if they are crazy over Leinart or Voung, and I'm talking Ditka/Williams trade your entire draft crazy.

The "you must draft Vince or you're stupid" crowd as nobody but themselves to blame for the backlash that has taken place . . . but the McClain/Chronicle/610 Spin Machine has done it's part also.

And here it's still the middle of February.

Justice is considered one of the top journalists in all of the country and he is very well respected.

That of course, depends on which side of the "great debate" that you're on. :)

Justice is a solid baseball guy....I can't say the same for his football insights. He's much better when somone gives him his opinions when it comes to football. He should stick to baseball.

I do like Justice's baseball stories. He knows what he's talking about when it comes to that. His football stories are different. Yes, he's giving his opinion, like sports writers are supposed to, but because I know he's more of a baseball person I tend to disregard his football articles (with good reason, IMO). Lopez doesn't seem to have a specialty, but he does seem to be the best at not going overboard with his opinions. He doesn't always look at both sides of the story, but he's the one that gets closest to doing it. McClain is, as we all know, a Vince Young or die type of guy. All he writes about is football and I usually ignore those articles, unless I feel like making fun of the guy.

I don't know by whom, but after a season of reading his pro football columns and blog postings, I am thoroughly unimpressed. I don't follow baseball, so perhaps he's a good baseball columnist.

But his football columns, his lack of logical thought (on football matters) and the way his opinion changes with the wind, are pathetic.

Oh, yeah. I'm starting to get this giddy feeling. I can see it now, Dallas makes the trade for #2, Oakland steps up & trades for our #1 & drafts VY, Dallas has to settle for Leinart & his bad wheels (or, trade back down for a net loss in picks), & Tennessee misses out on both QB's.

Now, that would be a beautiful thing. Just thinking about it makes me wanta' go :whoohoo:

I think IF Dallas makes that trade and I highly doubt it, because of the Joey Galloway fiasco a few years back, they will be targeting the kid Haloti Ngata 6-5, 340 from Oregon. They need a beast in the middle (NT) to make the 3-4 work like Parcells wants and they need depth at that position. I just can't see Dallas giving up that much to get him. They still aren't down on Henson because they still don't know what he can do and Parcells likes Romo, so I don't think they want VY or MT.:twocents:

I caught the tail end of McLain's part, he noted:

- no way the Texans draft Vince if Carr is here - mainly because of the amount of money for the one position.
- asked McNair if he thought the thing worse than Young going to the Titans was going to the Cowboys and McNair rolled his eyes.
- noted the same rumor going around that the Cowboys may trade up to #2. However, that'd be all Jones as Parcells is not looking to groom a QB on the cowboys.

IF JJ tried to draft a QB IMO Parcells would choke him or quit. Neither VY or ML or worth 1st or 2nd pick.:twocents:

absolutely dead on

Both camps are full of knuckleheads (bush and young). Close minded and repeatedly bashing each other for expressing honest opinions. I have been reading crap for a month about why if you do not agree from us your a *****! Both camps need to draft new leaders:crying:

Parcells is at that "playoffs or else" point in his tenure so I'm not sure he would be looking at giving up picks to move up and take a rookie QB who will be a backup for a year - even if that QB has the potential to be a new and improved Steve McNair in a few years. If it happens, it's all on Jerry.

Hi John :BananaWav

I'm sure knowing that John reads these boards won't stop anyone from voicing their opinion about him. As a matter of fact, it probably only encourages people.

John McClain has more connections in the NFL than a Hooker has split-ends.

He once said that when the Granato was about to speak about how the Texans are gonna use the pick on Bush he abruptly interrupted and said what make you think that the Texans are gonna take Bush. Then after they (John and Lance) said, well what do you know. He replied back, I talk to the team all the time, don't think I know what they plan on doing.

Also I heard Casserly on a radio show today and he said all these great things about Bush and little about Young. Which leads me to believe they're talking up bush as to posture for someone to trade up. This always happens this time of yoear. Then when asked about a possible trade including Carr he said he would have to evaluate all options they are approached with. In the past he would've squashed that notion.

I disagree with you on this Vinny. I really think teams will be stepping on each other to trade with us to get Leinert ahead of New Orleans. Trading with New Orleans won't guarantee a team their guy unless we negotiate a contract with Bush before the draft which would be extremely stupid.

On another note, I was thinking about Sherman coming aboard when a thought out of left field hit me. What if Sherman signed only to help Kubiak with his startup and then eventually take over as our next GM. Seems like it would be a really good fit and a good reason to uproot his family and move them here. Of course A&M would be another good reason but the Texans GM job seems like the better job of the 2.

I think that NO is the team most likely to move down. Casserly is only going to move down for a so-called Godfather package due to his early Texans trade history I feel. NO will take less and don't want to spend the money on a first overall unlike us who can do it and not worry about it in a cash flow sense.

TheOgre said:
If you want Lineart, you first try to trade with N.O. and if that falls through, then you talk to us.
Also, I don't think we trade out of the top 5 in this draft...and I think that NO would (money factor again)....so all this leads me to think that the first QB comes off the board at pick 2 instead of pick one. I don't see why anyone would want to work out a massive package to us when the Saints are more motivated by finances. Just announce the deal when the Saints go on the clock. You cannot announce it before hand or it doesn't work.

You know, I see this being posted on this board so much that it is starting to get very annoying, especially when NO ONE can bring any CONCRETE EVIDENCE to the table prove this theory is a fact. I try to overlook it and let people believe whatever they want to, but you can only ignore so much until you just have to say something. But I don't want take this thread off topic and turn it into a Saints discussion, so I will just leave it along.

A theory isn't a fact. It's a theory. But this one is not so far-fetched. The Saints were receiving a subsidy from the great State of Louisiana prior to Katrina. And the Saints revenue post-Katrina has obviously been reduced. That doesn't mean the Saints are losing money. Just not making as much as their NFL brethren.

I think if there is substance to the Saints eventually moving to Los Angeles, Leinart will be the pick at #2. If the NFL and Benson are committed to making the Saints work in New Orleans, I think we'll see them try to move down in the draft and take Cutler. But that's just a theory.

Benson was cheap even before Katrina. There is a reason why his team is always several millions of dollars below the cap. He isn't committed to winning and is only concerned about making that extra buck. He knew that people would go watch the Saints regardless of their record because of the history of the team in the city. He didn't have to put a winning team on the field to put people in the stadium.

once again, that pic yells a losing attitude. step up and realize whether vince comes here or goes elsewhere , he is a winner and we houstonians will look like we chose sam bowie over jordan. please don't wish that upon our city.
Why do you worry about what other people think about who the Texans pick,as long as the pick is going to help the team?

sounds alright i guess except that Abraham got traded to San Diego and it sounds like that is a stape of this deal and throws it off a bit. but other wise well thought out and somewhat tempting.

Yes the team with the #1 pick can negotiate with players prior to the draft. Don't know if there are any time limitations on it.
