How is Joe "NOBODY" Pendry going to make a difference???? I just don't get it. Wasn't it his O-line that stank up the field???? I am not understanding this one at all. I don't see how he can do any better except that we may not run on first down all the time. It is his linemen that are the major problem within our offense. Furthermore, are they going to finally get a QB Coach? If they are going to spend that much money for a QB don't you think they need a coach? DB, LB, Linemen, RB, WR and even special teams have a coach for their respected positions. WHY doesn't the QB have a coach?

Im begining to think that every coach on the Texans staff is a no-body or a reject . And that Capers will not hire ANYONE who is a threat to his job ... :cool:
 
Pendry has been a coordinator for the Chiefs, Panthers, and Bills. He went to the playoffs in the majority of years he's been a coordinator.

Greg Roman is the quarterbacks coach.

...yeah, Capers fired him for basically the same reasons he fired Palmer when Capers/Pendry were at Carolina--too, Pendry did have good results when he was OC under Wade Phillips so it will be very interesting to see how this pans out--side question--Phillips lost his HC job with the Bills because the owner wanted him to get rid of a certain coach and Wade refused--anyone remember who the coach was?? idonno:

Actually Dom talked about how thigns went when he fired Pendry from Carolina - In his interview with 610 he said they pretty much let Pendry go to the Bills because it was what Pendry wanted to do and was a good opportunity for him to get a better job, raise and so forth an dthat they had talekd about it ahead of time. Of course Capers being the master of the understatement may have been once again just trying to save face for both of them in case they have to go look for new jobs next season.

It would appear that they are boith in phase with each other. Palmer did not seem to be in phase with Capers. That cause great stress on the system. Maybe we will see more continuity from the team now. It has really been missing all year.
 
Palmer has colombia blue on his resume. That, in itself, is reason for termination! :heh: (he was part of the Greatest Choking Team in History, too)

Sorry, but just starting off a thread with 'Joe "NOBODY" Pendry' indicates an emotion-based argument to follow, and lacks any sense of critical analysis. The rest of your post pretty much sums up that perspective.

You "don't get it"? Maybe that's why you don't work in the NFL! ;)
 
Just to respond, JOE NOBODY is just what he is...he has been a OC at a couple of places and yet really nothing to show for it....on those teams that did make the playoffs, it was the defensive units that lead the team not offensive units leading the way! He is just another nobody. He was our O~line coach and everyone has seen how our offensive line has done over the past three season and the start of this season....not very good if you ask me...but who am I? I am just a fan of our great team and want the best for them. I don't work for the NFL but I know that moving someone up that has failed at the one job he had prior to becoming our OC is not a good move. I do know that much about business and taking care of the fans by putting quality people in position to win will only make the team better, fans happy and for the team, more money. And the bottem line for our owner is to make money. In the first three season our team was taking the right steps but everyone said our O.C. should have been fired and that he didn't mix his play calling up enough to keep people honest. Furthermore, I just wanted to see what others thought about our new OC because I really don't think much of him and that was the purpose this posting.

Give the guy a chance before you get all emotional on him.
 
While he is not a nobody, I think it is a very fair question to ask (in a non-emotional way, of course) of what he can bring to the table as OC. His previous assignment for the past 18 regular season games has been offensive line. That o-line has been truly horrific.
 
Well I for one liked how he knew he had to set no grey area for success. I don't know if he will be the difference this week but I think he might help us get our season back.
 
The O-Line does suck but Pendry could have only done so much. He doesnt get the full decision on who to draft. Basically I beleive what he needs to do to improve our offense is to become more aggresive and let go of this conservative stuff because thats what is holding us back from actually moving up the field.

I agree with you 100%. I just don't understand the personal attacks on people that are simply uncalled for.

Address a coach's philosophy and track record all you want, but it is just goofy to say that an 18 year veteran coach that has 11 playoff years of experience is a "nobody".

While the OL has been less than desirable, I think there was conflict between Palmer and the rest of the coaches. Obviously, I would venture that he wasn't too happy to be forced to run Caper's style of offense over his own, in addition to the fact that a new line coach was brought in to implement a new blocking scheme. A line coach, I might add, that seems to be very close to Coach Capers.

Personally, I'm glad Palmer is gone, for a variety of reasons.

I say we give Pendry some time. There is no doubt that the ball is in his court now, and only time will tell.

But attacking someone before he even has one game as OC under his belt for this team just seems immature and lacking of any patient analytical skills. :rolleyes:
 
it depends on what pendry does. does he do what palmer does and be really predictable? or does he run some trick plays and pass on 1st down?
 
I agree we should give him a chance and maybe it was Palmers poor play calling that made his job really hard to have any success. I am just looking at his recent record as O~Line Coach and that doesn't give me much hope but if he does change things up and we turn this season around then I will be the first in line to say I was wrong...I hope I am wrong but history doesn't lie...just look at President Bush! The record doesn't lie!!!

Actually, WHAT IS HE DOING COACHING THE O-LINE ANYWAY! It looks like he's got much more experience as an OC. Am I wrong about this?
 
I mean play-calling is only going to change so much of what we look like. The PLAYERS still have to execute. Maybe Pendry will be less predictable maybe he won't. Regardless of who the OC is will that give our OLINE any more talent than they had last week?

MAX PROTECT AND RUN 3 WR routes.
 
I'm willing to give Pendry a chance. I think the move should have been made during last offseason. These problems were around the last half of last season. I still think Capers is the biggest problem with this team but Pendry might help us identify what the real problem areas are. Coaching, QB, OL, WR, RB, TE. We can no longer blame Palmer.
