Jim Sweeny is the answer....

I say this in jest, but in reality he's an old FSU head coach who knows how to play smash mouth football and use wide receivers. It was during his tenure that Fresno State got the rep and nickname WRU. Of course he did have a coordinator by the name of Tedford who had played for him.

Somebody like Sweeny might be an excellent coach as an interim, because I don't think they really would have an interest in being a long term coach. Somebody like Sweeny could come in and finish the year out while we search for what we want. My opinion is Capers has to go now and someone like Sweeny has a lot of ties to the game. I bet they could pick up some good coaches in a hurry to start teaching this team some fundamentals. Sweeny was a tough cookie who got a lot out of nothing and his teams never gave up. His receivers were always known for running very precise routes. He's a stickler on that part of the game. The Irishman always wanted his players to go out and hit someone. He has his faults, but he would be far better than what we have right now. His teams always played with fire.

This team has a number of young players who are in dire need of some coaching by someone who knows how to play the game. AJ is suffering as much as any other player on this ball club because of our coaching deficiences. Yea, he has a lot of talent, but most of it is going to waste.

Carr is in the same boat and most of you don't recognize it. So is Wand for that matter. I will add Mathis to that also, but the special teams coaching might be the 1 exception to this coaching staff. That 1 area has been coached fairly well, but any work done outside of that area by the coaches has been poor.

We need a head start on next year. Fire them all and roll up the sleves and lets see if we can't get a foothold on our problems.

Part of this post is out of frustration of watching a team flounder for another year. Most would say fire the coaches at the end of the year. There would be good reason to say that since who would be available. I just wonder if there isn't an older retired coach who might like to take something on for the shortrun and hand the reigns over to someone to continue on. This coaching staff is doing so much damage to this ball club. Some of the damage is becoming so great that I don't know if you could ever repair it.

Well, if he should get hired and suck it up like Capers has, at least his name rhymes with weenie! :ok:

I'm throwing this out as an example. Lets be serious because the fire in the stadium is getting to hot. Might burn the weenies if we keep it up. Might even char the buns if they get to close to the coals.

This statement is spot on. Several very good players on both sides of the ball have had their growth stunted by this coaching staff. The only viable option is to make a change now.

:texflag: I vote for Charlie Weiss . Any man who grants a sick boys wish and has the guts to carry it out ... this after the boy died deserves a chance in the pros . Hey it was a pass to boot .
He also has about four rings .

Ibar, Can you tell me a story about the time Jim Sweeny beat the Banana Slugs in the Valley of Fire or the time his Bulldog apprentice, Tedford of Fresno, started an unparalleled gathering of QB's at Fres-no-lot?

This was in jest of course and I do respect your passion for your former employer. But I wish you would have as much positive passion for the Texans as you do for the Bulldogs.
