Jim Kelly - Awesome

Some of my favorite memories are of him lighting it up with the Gamblers. Hope he gets past this.
 
The last time I saw Jim Kelly he really looked as though he would be bed ridden for a while. When he walked on set at the Enshrinement a few minutes I almost cried. He looks and sounds great!

He was on the program prior to the Enshrinement Ceremony broadcasting now on the NFL channel. I don't know if there will be a rebroadcast, but it has to be out there somewhere, perhaps YouTube.
 
As good as Kelly may look compared to previous pics of him in the hospital, he is very much still enduring pain, fatigue and weakness. His treatment/post treatment periods have be touch and go and very up and down. He has barely regained just a small amount of his 50 pound weight loss only through the use of tube feedings. At this point in time, his doctors have not performed the battery of re-testing to determine if his treatments have put him in any sort of remission or not.....that will occur in about 1 month. As I've posted before, his fight with this type of cancer following a recurrence is far from over....and he will need lots of help from the Man above and continued support from all of his family, friends and fans to gain some more time. As Reed said in his speech

From his wife to the Buffalo News re Kelly's anticipation of being there for Andre's HOF event......a man who has maintained a strong and active role in Kelly fight, in and out of the hospital.:

“He’s pushing it,” Jill said. “Don’t get me wrong. It’s not as if he’s all better and good to go. There’s still the looming test in August, the not knowing if treatments worked, the fact that he’s still on a feeding tube. His life is still in that place of uncertainty, not knowing really what’s going to happen with all of this. So he’s still beat down; he’s still tired, he still gets sick quite a bit. But he would not miss this for the world.”

I didn't think that he was nowhere near out of the woods health wise per se, but was astonished when I saw him walk on the set and see him looking as well as he did. The last picture I saw of him was getting helm to stand up. Furthermore I saw a toughness in him as he sat through those long speeches yet was still smiling at the end of Andre's speech.

He still has a sense of humor and I did laugh when he told the group it's better to be seen instead of being viewed.

I don't doubt that with his illness and treatment that going outside and being among so many people that long of time perhaps wasn't the greatest idea, but something he felt that he had to do regardless of the circumstances.
 
He's always been a fighter and a good dude. I saw him destroy San Antonio in the Astrodome with his two-min drill at the end of a game in which the Gunslingers just beat down the Gamblers all game long. One of the greatest turnaround performances I've ever seen live (outside of the epic Rosencopter game). I'm a big Jim Kelly fan. I feel his pain and I admire his ability to keep his head up and lead when life doesn't do you any favors.
 
Jim Kelly is an awesome dude, beyond just a HoF player. He leads a living example of being an honorable man and exudes class. Much respect, and I will definitely keep him in my thoughts and prayers.
 
There was a really moving special on ESPN couple of days ago about his battle. Pretty sure you have all seen it, but you can probably you tube it. I'd post it but youtube isn't available on the work computer.

That is one tough hombre. I hope he beats it.
