Jerry Rice doesnt want to retire...we need a #2 WR...

let the rumors begin...

The only thing i want to see from Jerry Rice is his Hall of Fame induction speech. He is not a quality number 2 at this point in his career.

OK, I will sum it up here...Here it goes, we could sign him to a one year deal for the league minumum, he could mentor our younger WR's, and oh yeah he could be a leader in the locker room. And for those of you who can't tell, I am being sarcastic with this post, Jerry Rice needs to retire already... :whistle:

The 1st thing I thought before I came here was "I wonder how many Jerry Rice to Texans threads there were gonna be ? " :D

Hes too old for this team . He is AJ's idol though so maybe bring him in to teach AJ some of his greatness . :thumbup

AJ is going to be great in his own right, i would rather seem his do it his own way, instead of jerry's way, nothing wrong with jerry's way... but i want to see andre be himself... change the WR position like Rice did all those years ago... i would like to see AJ set the trend for WR to come, not just conform to someone elses style... I would like to see AJ do something, and some announcer go "WOW, Rice couldnt do that" i dont know what it is yet, there isnt much rice couldnt do... but i would like to see it

4 WR why? Not ahead of Armstrong please......best route runner now and will always be.Speed: not like he used to but he is not slow or average. (Best WR Ever) :thumbup

I totally agree! JR is one of the best WR ever to play in the NFL. It will be a sad day when he retires. I would like for them to do like they did with Emmitt Smith. Fix it so he can retire a NINER. I did hear/read one rumor a while back that he might sign with the Niners for one year so he can retire in SF. Don't ask me to prove it cause I can't remember where I read it. :)

AG will write his own legacy and has already begun it, he dont need help from JR. JR is one of the best WR ever and i wouldnt complain if we signed him, but i wont be mad if we dont !

I believe the players that go back to their teams to retire with them just sign a one day contract or something very short in length. There have been some players that have done this before Emmitt.

That is very true. But, the article I read stated he would like to play his last year with the Niners. Since they are struggling and having to essentially start over on every level, why not bring back JR and let him mentor some new Niners! I have been a JR fan for all of his 20 yrs in the NFL. I would just like to see him go out with style, doing what he spent so much of his career doing, wearing the uni of a NINER, and wearing it with pride and dedication. NOT like that jerk who replaced him! It would not be wise to even get me started on how much I DISLIKE (being nice) TO!

Oh ok. I didn't know he wanted to play a whole year. I thought he just wanted to have a symbolic retirement with the Niners. Makes sense.
