I took a look at some highlight reels....my goodness, when is this guy expected to leave the boards? Could he be had with the Texans' 2nd pick? That would be an unbelievable steal. If his pectoral injury really pushes him to the Texans in the 2nd and they pass...... He's JJ v.2. Measurably speaking, he's quite similar. 6'4'' 285 4.9 just a hair smaller.

He's the same unrelenting pass rusher. Not gifted but never says die and always moves towards the ball. Against the run he's immovable. Does NOT get blown off the line, ever. Must be doubled or chipped if you want to run the ball past him.

With he and JJ, the DL would be a force. I love Antonio Smith's game but if you could get JJ lined up with Crick it would be a nightmare for opposing OL. They wouldn't be able to contain the middle without giving up pressures from Barwin, Reed and Cushing.
 
I have mocked him to us with our second round pick...

This is a draft where I'd move up into the second round to grab a top talent.

I'd even move up into the 1st round to get a guy that could put us over the top. We have a pretty complete team and a couple of beast could make us very formidable.
 
I know on Walter's mock he's available and seems to be available in the late 2nd round according to most sites but I just can't honestly imagine him dropping that far. Maybe a move similar to grabbing Brandon Harris could be made if necessary but if he's anywhere in range he's gotta be the pick. The value way overrules any thoughts of need IMO. He ought to be mid 1st if not for missing last season. I could definitely get used to Double J and Crick destroying O lines for the next 10 years.

1- Peter Konz C - Solidify OL
2- Jared Crick DE - Solidify DL in a big way
3- Joe Adams WR - All purpose threat, KR, PR, slot WR and even RB depth
4- Jeff Fuller WR - Big, fast, needs work but has upside
5- Jerry Franklin ILB - depth/special teams
6- Chase Ford TE - taking a flyer on a mega sized TE with basketball history from Miami
7- Adrian Robinson OLB - Is this guy still available here? Idk but his scouting report on cbssports.com reads like a future pro bowler.....

No but he might be the one finishing the games...

In all honesty, Smith is awesome. He can shoot a gap like nobody else but that's his trick. He's on the wrong side of 30 and is a streaky player. He's done nothing to lose his job though, so no but I'd think Crick would force the issue and play his way into more and more minutes. Just watch the highlights, it's ridiculous, he's like a big ass boulder sticking out in the middle of a river (the OL). He absolutely doesn't get pushed back. Gets off blocks well and makes tackles. Pass rushing he doesn't have the experience or get off to shoot a gap like Smith or even Watt but he's all hustle, always moving towards the ball. I'm telling you if it wasn't for his injury he's a 1st rounder, top 20 at least. If they can actually pick him up for a 2nd I'm gonna be quoting the old school NBA jam announcer:

"STOLEN!!"
