I just heard this on a Daytona based radio station here. Apparently the Jags are going to "out do" the video screens being put up in Reliant. According to PFT it's going to be 16,626 sq. ft screen.

What I found interesting and kinda funny is they plan on showing the Redzone Channel on part of the screens to attract area fans that follow other teams.

“We know this would be welcomed by the large portion of our fans who are transplants to Jacksonville, as well as all fantasy football enthusiasts,” Lamping said.

Imagine an entire stadium being like a sports bar. Part of the crowd starts cheering because of something that is happening in another game. You start looking around (just like at a sports bar) wondering what team did what.

Heck, most of their home games are going to be across the pond before you know it. Waste of $ for them, but then again....who cares about the jags. Other than defenses looking to pad their sack stats, of course

They've been talking about this since February. Cost is estimated ~$50 million (~$63 million when including other upgrades)............the catch.............the Jags will put the burden of cost on the public coffers.:wadepalm:

Isn't that at the crux of the matter with residents in JAX? It's not a particularly rich town to begin with. Sure, there is some money there but generally speaking, I believe it's a blue collar town to begin with.

After all, I had to travel there on a regular basis and it says something when the first smell you get is from a paper plant... (Kinda nasty!)

First of all, agree on Mootini. I have lived here now over a year though I don't go up to Jacksonville much. The times I have gone up there it doesn't strike me as an area where there would be an NFL team since it doesn't appear to be very affluent or large. I think Jax is primarily a military city. With that in mind they do have the best pregame fly overs.

I do think the Jags have hardcore fans in their city however just 2 hours south of there I rarely see anything related to the Jags. If I had no clue about the NFL and only went off what I see on cars and what people are wearing I would think the Steelers were located in Orlando.
 
I heard a little while ago that the Jaguars actually do very well in attendance and that their stadium is simply too large.

I read somewhere that Jacksonville is about top 20 for attendance...
