I believe I've figured out Schaub's issue... he has screwed up depth perception... he's seeing things further away than they actually are, thus overthrows on passes, and allowing a guy at his feet to sack him for a fumble... hey, beats my other idea

No. When the other team is playing great run D, you have to use (generally short or mid) passes to set up the run.
