I welcome the inevitable implosion. This team needs to be torn to the ground so that it can be remade correctly. I for one am excited. I trust our owner in this.. he is the kind of guy who isnt going to accept "average" just cause he is still making a profit.. and he isnt going to stick his nose in where it doesnt belong. Thank god for Mr. McNair. Now that we can step back and see the flaws.. I think we will be able to move forward much quicker, and become the kind of team we were hoping to build in the first place.
There are only a handful of players on this team who I could not stand to see leave.. Dunta Robinson, Andre Johnson, Domanick Davis, Travis Johnson, DeMarcus Faggins, Jerome Mathis, Chester Pitts, C.C. Brown, Robaire Smith, Moran Norris, Derrick Armstrong, and Jabar Gaffney come to mind as "definate keepers". That is a pretty solid group of young talent to rebuild on. I think if we can do this right.. we should have no trouble keeping this solid core of players in Houston, and happy.
Rebuilding with these guys should be a short and relatively painless affair I would think. There is just so much talent there, that I think if we just surrounded them with adequate help, and GOOD COACHES.. and a SMART offense and defense.. in 2 or 3 years we can have this team competing for the playoffs.
here is to hoping that Mr. McNair will step in and start the changes this week, and reassure our young talent that if they stay with us, they are gonna see playoffs sooner than later.
