Is it time to replace Fairbairn?

New Kicker?

I don't know why but every time Ka-imi has to come in for a clutch kick (be it a short field goal or an extra point) I get a knot in my stomach. There's no doubt that he's been money on long kicks, but to me it seems like he's lacking when it comes to must make kicks. He's tied for 8th in terms of missed field goals. So is it time to go shopping for a new kicker?

100%. The kicker situation could be much worse. It's unwise to make a change unless you're bringing in a guy you are certain is better.

Just bring in a kicker and open the competition. Let them alternate FG’s at 10 yard increments so the competition is on equal footing…..same would go for XP’s. Fairbairn can’t get comfortable after his crappy run down the stretch.

Kicker, QB, WR.... no matter the position it should always be a competition.

Respect the work someone puts in but make sure there is no mistake... if they get complacent, the name on their jersey aint that special if they start slacking.

I voted yes, but not this yr due to cap implications. Unless he kicks well in the playoffs I would cut him in the 2026 offseason.
I’m not totally opposed to cutting him but I want to know what he’s being replaced with before we cut him.

The sad fact is there’s not actually that many kickers better than Fairbairn in the league.

Would prefer to pick one up out of college this season and developing them on the practice squad.

If a kicker is actually good they wont be able to stash him on the PS.

I said yes but I honestly hate this question. Always have no matter who the kicker is. I personally start wanting to replace a kicker about ten seconds after he misses a kick. Any kick. Ever. It sucks I know and I always feel like the longer you hold on to one who starts missing the worse it gets. After you move on then you're thinking he's going to go somewhere else and recapture his magic and you'll regret it. There just isn't a good answer to this unless the guy has lost a leg in a car accident or something.

I've talked myself out of it. Best wait a little longer. Talk about it again next year.

I don't think he's clutch or anything, but I don't think he necessarily a choker. Kickers are all headcases so you never know. I do know that he kicks better in an indoor stadium so if we get home field advantage (yeah, I know, a guy can dream) then I don't think it's the issue it is when we go on the road. Or maybe don't rely on him to be around 1/3rd to 1/2 of our offense.

All I'm going to say is my Wife who only watched a few games (she had work on many Sundays) noted that she was closing her eyes every single time he kicked. She said that she noticed that he was missing 1 at least every single game it seems.
