Is Charley Casserly Incompetent

I'm a PSL holder who is livid over the team's embarrassing performance this year. The drafting, trading and free agent signings, on the whole, have been horrible. The coaching has been terrible too, but I think Charley Casserly is at least as responsible for the mess the team is in as the coaches.

What do you think?

Nope he's been danged unlucky. Did the same thing at Washington.. He'll hit a great draft again someday. Gonna be interesting to see if Mr. Macnair goes Tom Laundry with this crew or clean house. I believe for sure we need some new scouts.

I hope you're being facetious. I agree that we need new scouts, but we also need Casserly as far away from the team's front office as possible.

Did you see where he was quoted in the Chronicle as saying the team has hit "a bump in the road"?

What a clueless yokel. The sooner he's fired, the better.

:texflag: I still think if you looked at the timeline Bobby Beathard built the Skins of the 3 SBs and then built the Chargers who went to the 95 Super Bowl . I'm not sure what CCs role was .

I agree. Casserly simply took over as caretaker after Beathard had done all the heavy lifting and thinking.

Redskins fans -- to this day -- have a low opinion of Casserly. They're bitter he wasted the third pick on Heath Shuler. I believe he was also responsible for picking Michael Westbrook and Desmond Howard, but don't care to check to make sure.

Casserly has the final word on player procurement, be it the college Draft,
FA, or the one time X-Draft. And its also up to him to be the judge of the value of the advice he gets from his coaches and scouts reguarding player acquisition, he did hire all of them. So while the coaching staff are the ones involved with preparing the team for the season and individual games, and game time management, Casserly is the guy who is most responsible for
the talent assembled on the team.

Casserly has had 3 good draft picks with us and that is all Andre J D Rob and DD all of the rest have been BUST. so yes i guess the answer is yes.:texflag:

We are the worst team in the league after 4 and a half years under his guidance. Remember, he is the general manager. So yes, he is absolutely incompetent. He also is beginning his pass-the-buck routine already as he posed the question in the Chronicle this week, "...is it the coaching?" This entire staff must go.

Yes, Casserly is a moron

So many wasted draft picks starting with Ragone the one year, Morency this year and God knows what else.

Trading draft picks for unknown players who the teams they are leaving are jumping for joy and so on.

Then we got like 38 players who "play" out of position

noo...carr, pitts, mathis, hogden, earl, c c brown...the list isnt long, but its quite longer than you suggest.

I also find you to be one of my least favorite posters on this board. You only complain about Carr and do not seem to notice his progression behind the worst offensive line 4 years running. JMO.

Casserly has made many mistakes on the input of coaches, himself, and the scouts. Our scouting staff is large and other than a couple of guys I doubt how talented they are. Some people would say scouting is overrated, but they also maybe bought in to the Texans spin doctoring on alot of other things. Casserly should be on his way out and we should go searching for an up anc coming GM. Baltimore, Atlanta, S.D., and Dallas have some good experienced guys looking to make the jump to GM. Pair this guy with Kubiak, Shottenhiemer, Dennison, Hoke, and Marciano and we are looking at the beginnings of a good coaching staff.

cute. they may not be the best players, but that is why they are later round draft picks. For where they are picked, they are considered very good picks. I am not a homer fan, by any means, but Jerome will be soild for us and was a second day find. I classify that as a GOOD pick. Carr has shown you what he can do if given time, and if you are expecting Joe Montana, then you are expecting too much.

sorry napa, i have to go to work now, i'll be home around 10...so rip away and i'll see you next sunday because you dont seem to post much except after a loss.

Napa are you honestly saying that you expect Eli, Carr, Palmer, and the countless other qbs picked first to be better than arguably the best QB to ever play the game.
