Is anyone else Physically Sick about this?

First of all, yes, this is my first post here, but I've lived in Houston my entire life and followed us since our early days.

Second, after being absolutely shocked last night...I'm am finding that it's not getting any better. If ESPN shows one more clip of Bush juking 11 people in a row and then Williams tackling a JV quarterback again...I think I'm going to vomit

There are enough threads on Houston's thoughts/outrages already, I'm just curious if anyone else actually feels physicall sick about this? I honestly feel nauseous and I can't get over it. This whole thing is making me sick...literally.

Somatization disorder anyone?

I was really angry last night

I have more personal issues that are making me upset but the draft isn't helping

not at all. IF we drafted bush he would have been the highest paid running back in the NFL without ever taking a snap. thats just not smart.

This is the best fit for the team. We worked hard on the offense in the offseaon with moulds, Putzier, and flannagan.

The defense needs an impact player.

yeah this is a total downer...im really shocked...i figured the GM and HC would be smarter than this. At the very least, they could have traded away the first pick, got a fat bonus, AND Mario Williams would still be there at the 2 or 3 pick!

I thought Mario and Reggie were both offered the same contract?

No sickness here. There was the inital shock of not selecting Reggie, but that probably was due to the 24/7 of the media hype.

As Casserly noted
"I can understand Vince's popularity," Casserly said. "I can understand Bush's popularity, as well, but we're talking about a tremendous defensive end who's a natural pass rusher and plays the run, too.

"We never wavered once we told people we were serious about Williams. If people had listened, they would have known how serious we were. Our public statements never changed."

Guess quite a few of us were wrapped up in two of the 3 players at the top.

NOPE! Texans are going from a 3-4 to a 4-3. How many DE do they have? NONE! Alot of DT and OLB. Don't be surprised if they don't take another DE in 2nd round :redtowel:

Just REALLY ticked off! Mario had 6 good games in one year. Before that no one had ever heard of him. A good combine and our idiot FO just jumps on the Mario bandwagon. I don't think Mario makes the team that much better. RB would have made a huge difference in the way we are defended. You can't double team guys like Andre and Moulds if RB is on the field..

And let's don't forget that this was all done in the name of the all-mighty $$$$. Mario signed for less than Reggie would have. McNair has now gone over to the dark side along with Darth Drayton.

OMG! I can relate! Bob and Charley put the cherry on the cake of my crappy week last night!

I think this is the most physicall disgusted I have ever been with a Houston sports team. And I have been here since 1972.

Casserly is the worst GM in football, and should be fired. There is no way a DE is worth Reggie Bush. I've been looking forward to this draft day for 4 months, and now I don't even want to watch.

We are the laughingstock of the nation - and what's worse, we deserve it.

We will never be a winning franchise.

Huh? They have TOO MANY DE's. Babin, Peek, and Weaver.

Babin and Peek were DEs in college - and Capers tried (unsuccessfully) to make them into OLBs.

Mario was a monumentally stupid pick. If we weren't going to take Bush, we should have traded down. For anything. That way, we could have spent less (more under the salary cap for other needs).

This was the worst of all possible moves.

That would be ridiculous. IMO

We'll take an OL or a TE. If not then its because a great athlete/playmaker is still available.

No I'm sorry, I can't. I'm a displaced Texan and I've seen what real fans are. Unfortunately my hometown doesn't have many.

I am completely shocked. Without going into how this team continues to disappoint, I will say one thing:

Mario better be good. And I mean REAL GOOD.

If you really think about it's not as bad, we've a KR in Mathis and I can assure you he's not in the same class as RB, also, we've a serviceable RB ...and a very weak defense. I see MW as the next Bruce Smith. I would definitely want to have a great defensive team, you are not going to outscore the Colts, but the can be stopped. The Colts and the Chiefs are great offensive teams but we didn't see them at the superbowl.

I don't have a problem pick a DE in the first round...just not with a the first pick...trade down and get some value. Mario at #1 is not the best value they could get...period. And since when are you not a "real" fan for lambasting the front office for a bad pick. The "REAL" fans actually give a crap about what the organization does. Any team's fans would go ballistic over this pick.

its moreso for the downer attitude, the mailing in of the season before a single training camp whistle blows

and you can't trade with yourself. gotta have another team on the other end

Excellent point. Didn't even think about that..

Then if you don't have the trade, you take the best value...Reggie Bush. After that, you draft D in the 2nd round or trade up for in impact D player.

There are always ways. You don't settle with the first pick.

My 1.5 cents.
o-)

I don't know who I hate more now...Casserly or Bud Adams. Just watching Casserly on ESPN with his stupid face justifying him picking Williams made me literally sick to my stomach. I'll always be a Texans fan but I am convinced that we are cursed just like the Oilers were and are destined to be a laughing stock forever because we passed on Bush. 10 years from now they will be showing highlight reels of Bush and will alway comment on how the Texans screwed up.

I agree with all of your comments except you can subsitute "Bush" for "Young" in your last sentence.

What the heck can you possibly know? You only have one post! How dare you invade our board and talk poorly about our drafting an average defensive lineman. Shame on you...

No, this was the right move. Like my wife said, the Texans did what they had to do than what the media hype spouted.

Don't bring that weak ***** Cane-boy. We are experts at drafting average d-linemen - Peek, Babin, etc. how about a fullback in round 2?

People are trying to convince themselves that Williams was a good pick by saying Defense wins championships.Even if Williams gets 15 sacks it will not match the 25 touchdowns Bush could of gave us.

I don't think that I can answer your question without being rude or sarcastic, having said that I'll let it go.

Shame on you for calling Williams average. Nobody else has stated that. Williams is a great player and fills a big need the Texans have. Bush filled no need whatsoever. You pick Bush if you have everything else or nothing else. That's not the case here in Houston.

Don't make me come through this computer and knock out your 19 year old rear! I cannot believe that you would say anything bad about Babin. Didn't you know he had some sacks during his senior year and was able to lift some heavy weights at the combine? Novice.

As for Bobo, I am glad your wife agrees with the pick. I will sleep better tonight.

That's malarkey. The only way Bush gives you 25 TDs is if you have the offensive line to do it and the defense to set you up. Plus, how can a part-time player get that kind of production from you? I think you're trying to convince yourself that Bush was the right pick by talking about these phantom 25 TDs. Now NO has the problem of having two RBs, a bad team everywhere else and just one ball. It's their problem now.

Bush filled no need? What was their offense rated last year? Name me one team that doesn't need talent like that.

Exactly...saying Bush does not fill a need is crazy. We suck and have needs across the board expect for #1WR and #1CB. Passing on a once-in-a-lifetime special playmaker like Bush is stupid. Every NFL expert except for Casserly and McNair will say that Bush is undboutedly the best player in this draft. But of course, that's why we were the #1 pick to begin with...because of idiots like Casserly.

WTH kind of response is that? So, if I don't agree, (as a paying customer) I should keep my responses to myself. Before I say anything nasty...

Haven't you heard, Williams is 6'7"! Seriously, you are delusional if you think a lineup including Babin, Peek and Williams is ever going to make it to the Super Bowl. Good defenses win championships and I don't think this pick moves us enough in that direction for the value...

Not only is he 6'7" but he can run the 40 in 4.47 and he has a 40" vertical!!! Wow wee!!! Why not make him our running back?

Maybe he beat out Buchanon on STs too! The only thing I want to know is can he chase Vince all over the field twice a year?

Didn't mean it in a sarcastic way, you can voice your displeasure as mach as you want but that's not going to change anything.
