:brickwall It's bad enough that we went 1-3 in preseason, with the only win a last minute FG against the Raiders. Now we're 0-2 in the regular season. They fired the offensive coordinator after that 27-7 humbling by the Steelers. What's even worse is that those so-called executives decided to leave the roof open so those of us not lucky enough to find shade baked in the sun (it was 120 degrees on the field). I called the front office to voice my displeasure. Why do we have to suffer heat stroke while watching a team that isn't performing? We need an offensive line. Oh by the way what ever happened to the Austin Texans meeting at the Saxon Pub on those Sundays when the Texans are on the road. This is our 4th season. We're supposed to make the playoffs this year. I wonder if we have the ability to win 1 game this season. All I can say now is " Thank God for bye weeks." Next week will be another beating at the hands of Cincy. It's brutal to travel 3 hours from Austin to sit in the hot sun to watch a losing ball club. David Carr isn't getting any support from his teammates. I don't blame him for wanting to leave Houston. Who could blame him? Nuff said. Just sign me. Dismayed

Here's a copy of an email the Texans sent to season ticket holders concerning the roof policy.

We have received a considerable amount of input regarding the game experience this last Sunday. As you probably know, our organization has earned a reputation for being responsive to fan input and in the past three days we have fielded numerous concerns from our fans regarding the roof position (open or closed) on hot and sunny days.

As an organization we apologize for any inconvenience that you were caused by the roof being open this past weekend. We also want you to know that we have completed an exhaustive evaluation of this situation and we have carefully evaluated the feedback we have received from fans like you. Based on this analysis, we have decided to make the comfort of our fans our primary consideration when making the roof position decision for future games. Our fans are an important part of the Houston Texans family and we want each visit that you make to Reliant Stadium to be as enjoyable as possible.

This new approach means that you can expect the roof to be closed more often in the early months of the season, but we will still attempt to open the roof on certain game days if the climate seems appropriate for an open air environment. Specifically, when the game day forecast calls for sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-80s or higher, the roof will likely be closed for the game. Clearly, given our need to satisfy the contrasting desires of 70,000 of the greatest fans in the world, we will not get it right every time for everyone. However, your input has helped us to better understand the impact of the roof position on the overall game experience and we will work hard to use this knowledge to create an even better game environment for our fans for the remainder of the 2005 season and many great seasons to come.

3. The Texans left the roof open to make the Steelers play in the heat, in their black jerseys. As you can see from the post above it won't happen again.
4. We are not suppose to make the playoffs this year. We are suppose to make a RUN at the playoffs. (No one could can possibly say we are suppose to make the playoffs when we have a team in our division(The Colts) who dominate and we have never beaten.)
5. David Carr has NEVER made any comments that would/should leave anyone with the impression that he wants to leave.
6. Driving from Austin to Houston on sundays for the games. You are a true fan.

Keep your head up, we will have our ups and downs but the season will get better.

We lost to 1 great team. We found out what kind of team the Bills really were when they faced the Bucs last week.

We will see. I think we will see a very dominate Bills team. I will not be surprised if they win their division. Plus the Bucs are the real deal this year.

It's not that we're 0-2 that is so bad...it's the way we lost those games. Heads down, no fire, looking like losers. If the losing attitude doesn't change in the next 14 games, then there needs to be wholesale change in the organization. And only a small handful of players would be exempt from that changing atmosphere, IMO (and I'm sure you can figure out which players get a free pass).

I came to find out some of these poster never run out of excuses i admit it we suck right now at we are headed it the wrong direction i cant wait for next year when we have a new GM and Coach Along with a Brand new QB.

Hey Im from Austin. I was wondering if their is any place Texans fans gather to watch both home and away games. None of my friends here are Texans fans, so it would be nice to cheer and boo with some fellow fans.

Good point! I think a true fan is all about blind faith, through thick and thin. Think how sweet it will be when they do start winning and you were with them even in the hard times. It is a sweetness that bandwagon fans will never taste.

Blind faith doesn't mean you can't be critical of the team, though. But be analytical in your criticism instead of emotional, IMHO.

To keep your tailgating metaphor going, we may not be able to cook the steak with charcoal...we might have to switch to propane!
