So a couple of weeks ago I made a comment about are kicker Kris Brown, but after watching some of the games this year, I saw how good he really was! This brings me to a "interesting" thought, because I've been seeing a lot of posts about how Davis is not the best runner for this team and we should get people like Alexander. I find this funny because Davis went over 1000 yards and had 14 TD's which was better then his rookie season (he was also not 100% the whole season) just like people were telling me about Kris Brown!

When it comes to are defense I've been seeing the same thing. I think Babin and Faggins could be stars for this team in the next couple of years. I've been very impressed by the way they played this season! I made a comment once about are WR crew and once again people were talking about WR's who did not really play much year and how great there are going to be and all this stuff. Well I feel that Babin with time could be amazing, along with one day Faggins and Robinson taking over for Glenn when it's time for him to go! :listening

that is what worries me. when your starting RB can't stay healthy

But, thats kinda like the stroy Fred Taylor of the Jags went through early on. Very affective when on the field but due to injury, had problems getting recognized. I think that if DD can go a whole season without missing a game it will shut up all the doubters.

there is one major difference between taylor and davis and that is that I'm pretty sure taylor tore his ACL and all the injuries davis has gotten are minor.

well if DD never run his mouth about 2000 yards, his season would have been a succcess.

I think people took that a little too seriously. DD didt profisize that he would have 2000 yards neither did he run his mouth. They asked what are your goals. He said his goal was 2000 yards. He was just saying that he had high expectations for himself and that he was going to try to work to acheive them.

Alexander can't catch. Neither can Edge. DD is the best RB in the league just wait till this year. Second only to LT and Priest (More KC's line than anything) maybe. In the Texan's game you have to catch the 5 yard flat pass, or the short pass over the middle. The only better recieving RB is Westbrook. DD is here to stay and I like it.

He lost his confidence early with bone headed fumbles and never got it back till the last 4 games of the season... Our first two loses were directly his fault! Like 5 fumbles and 4 were in the red zone?

Pretty strong opinion--maybe you should check some of the facts:

(1) DD had 4 fumbles not 5.
(2) the fumbles were on Texans 41, San Diego 17, Detroit 48, Detroit 28--so none that gave the ball to Detroit in their redzone, 1 while the Texans were in the redzone
(3) Ya think the 3 David Carr INT's might have affected the games also?

I wish people could stay off of D.D case, NO he didnt reach his goal of 2,000 yrds, and yes he had 4 fumbles, yes he "ONLY" had 14 touch downs, and yes he was better this year than his rookie season !

I agree, DD is the man. No more bashing. From a fantasy perspective he is top 5. He produces. So he fumbled a couple times, he is no Tiki. There may be better runners in this league but DD has hands out of the backfield. How many times does DD touch the ball in the 2 minute drives, like 6-7. 10 yards over the middle was automatic. What I wont forget is Shaun Alexander dropping balls in the playoffs like they were paternity suits, the only reason he didnt cost his team is that none of the Seahawks can catch. Just wait until DD gets to run behind a good OL.

:thumbup Anybody remember when Emmitt Smith in his rookie season fumbled against the Oilers and cost the Cowpokes the game . It was late and the Pokes were driving and poof ....fumble !! right then and there they should have cut him .

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm i think some ones exaggerating here :fib . I love DD and I think that he is a top 10 NFL RB but top 3 thats a little hard to say. If he can continue to catch the way he does, and can run for over 1500 yards and have anther 14+ TD season, then I will agree with you. :thumbup

Well I'm like everyone else when they say that the key to a RB's game is the line. If we work on that and DD can stay healthy, we will have a good RB. He doesn't have to be a great RB like Edge, Holmes, or LD. He just has to be good. To me he has accomplished that. I don't care what anyone says.

DD has the ability to be a very effective back but . . . . there are alot of runningbacks that have that same ability!! Its a matter of doing it at a consistently high/injury free level. We don't need him to b the greatest but just enough to hold his own in the ground game. Anything more than that is just an added bonus. Don't forget we're lucky for now to have 2 of the best quality backups in that position with John Wells and Tony Hollings. If he's not an everydown back fine. As long as we dont try to make him into one if hes not.

Do you remember the int where DD went the wrong way and DC through right to the Lb? I do. I still think DD is the right RB for the Texans. We need an elusive back, because or OL doesn't support a straight ahead runner as well. Thats why Wells has trouble with running in this offense.

D.D. is great with thepotential of becoming the best in the leuge. Give him a chance this year and I know we will pull through. He runs like a quick Emmit mixed with Barry. It takes 2 to 3 people to bring him down and he can catch like Westbrook and LT. I believe he is part of the future of the Texans. Wells has proved to be a wonderful backup who steps his game up as needed. I am a big fan of both these guys and hope Wells resigns. We have yet to see much of hollings but IMO he is ok for the #3 spot.

IMO we dont need to waist a draft pick on a running back who will never see the field.

As a running running back, you're right. DD isn't top 10... has to beat out James, Dillon, McGahee, Henry, Staley, Lewis, whoever starts for Denver, Holmes, LDT, Johnson, and that's just AFC alone.

As a running back in terms of versatility, he could be argued as top 10, possible top 5..... outside of DD, LDT, [healthy] Faulk, and Westbrook, [might have missed 1 or 2 more...] there aren't many other RBs who are as well known for their catching ability as their running skills.

DD is hardly a top 10 back. One could argue he isn't a top 20 back.

Well you can argue it, but frankly it would look pretty silly IMO.

Fact--the Texans' OL is not a top half of the NFL OL--anyone want to dispute that for last year?

With that back drop on rushing alone, DD was 11th in the league on yards 4th on TD's. Tomlinson averaged the same ypc as DD, Portis less.

Somebody really step up to the plate on this one and say DD would be just an average back in Denver or KC and that Holmes or Portis would come in behind this OL and save the team. Oops, wait Portis didn't do as well as DD last year once he left the Denver OL--guess he isn't a top 20 back either.

for me.. DD is solid.. but I get no excitement when he is the open field..I just don't get that "gamebreaker" feeling with him with the ball , like I do with AJ... and what stands out to me is the fact that when we run the ball so much and DD gets his yards .. we usually lose about 2/3 of the time.. is it DD's fault? NO, but I get the feeling that defenses don't fear him. That is why AJ continues to get doubled most of the game..

am I knitpicking? probably.. for the record.. I am satisfied with DD, but I think that it wouldn't hurt to keep looking for upgrades ...
