In the ultimate dream scenario, if the Texans were to trade up..

Miller or Peterson?

I've heard Peterson touted as "the best player in this draft" whereas I have not heard that about Miller at all.

I'd say Von because we can attack the secondary in FA a bit. I really think hes going to be a 15 sack a year kind of guy that does other things well once he gets accustomed to the system. Peterson would rock too and he might be slightly cheaper to get. The next Clay Matthews or the next Rod Woodson, sign me up either way.

Considering our secondary was, by far, the worst positional situation of any team I've ever rooted for in my life in any sport.....Peterson.

I say Miller. Do whatever it takes to sign Asomougha. Sign a veteran FA safety. Unless his name is C.C.

I voted Von Miller-we will need an actual OLB in the conversion to the 3-4.
While I do think that we have some players (Barwin specifically-if completely healthy) it would be nice to have someone who played the position.

Plus they can get a good CB in FA (when that happens) and I haven't seen any pure pass rushing OLB's available.

The last time an A&M guy went to a Houston Franchise in round 1, he became an all Pro named Ray Childress. I say go for Miller and go get Brandon Harrison in the 2nd.

Add Darius to the list so I can vote please. :fingergun:

Gotta agree with mussop here. While Patrick Peterson or Von Miller would definitely be nice, if the Texans somehow traded up to the #2 overall pick (though unlikely) I'd rather they select Marcell Dareus and stick him in at nose tackle.

Except that Rick Smith will be signing the CB's.

The issue is, if you are trading up to get him, odds are you don't have a second round pick.

I'll take this guy:

I just think hes one of those players that comes around every ten years or so. Hes gonna be gooood. :fans:

I took Peterson.

I think Miller has bust potential that Peterson does not.

I also would prefer Dareus on the nose over either.

Took the Aggie. Not that I have anything against Peterson but I am in love with Millers first step.

I selected Patrick Peterson.

Reasoning:I think Peterson is better and a safer pick than Miller. He's a versatile DB that Wade can line up on or off the line. I still target a FA CB. I think the dropoff in talent from Peterson to the other CBs is more significant than that of the OLBs. I really like Von Miller and would love to have him but I think there's a bigger risk factor to him than Peterson. I think the drop off from him to other OLBs is less and would rather keep our draft picks and go OLB at 11 or trade down.

Patrick Peterson + FA like Ike Taylor + Kareem Jackson at CB; Glover Quin at FS is a much much improved secondary and could become a strength to our defense overnight. Use a couple of picks from whatever we have left over to move up and target an OLB that Wade likes in the late 2nd/early 3rd and I think we could have the makings of a really good looking defense.

Miller. Explosive edge rushers aren't easy to find. Not that elite corners are either. .but I think that we could find good fa db's. Plus I like a few of the third and fourth round corners.

I also believe that miller would make us better as a team. Put him on the same side as Mario and teams will have fits trying to get them blocked. And Mario would help hide some of his deficiencies against the run. Mario would take on blockers and miller could use his speed to make plays.

I absolutely love Von, and from personal contact with him he is a VERY high character guy too, but Patrick Peterson has Champ Bailey potential IMO. He is probably the best CB prospect to come out in 10 years.

I went with Peterson. I like the Ed Reed comparison. I think he'll be a Pro Bowler for years to come. Not saying Miller won't, just think he gets washed out of the play alot. JMO

I keep seeing people say that Peterson is the safest pick in the draft and Peterson is the best player in the draft and Peterson is a shutdown CB. IMO he is the most over rated player in this draft. Great athlete, yes. Very good prospect, yes. Best player in the draft, no way. Shutdown CB, who has he shut down? When he faced the better WR's he didn't shut them down.

Most of his big plays came in the return game. You don't draft a CB top 5 and play him on special teams. To much chance of getting injured. Im not saying he will be a bust but he sure as hell aint the sure thing people are making him out to be.

Same goes for Von Miller. He pretty much dominated college tackles with his speed. That wont work all the time in the NFL. He needs to learn some counter moves. Very good prospect but not as sure a superstar as people are making him out to be.

The only player in this draft worth sacrificing a big chunk of our draft assets to get is Darius. He is a 3 down player that can play anywhere on the line.

I like the way you think. Rep.

Miller would have the bigger impact in the 2011 season, so I voted for him. And somewhat because he's an Aggie :D If the Texans somehow got Miller in the 1st and Aaron Williams in the 2nd, Sam Acho in the 3rd, it certainly would helpm them beat the Cowboys in ratings for the Austin, Bryan/CS, and San Antonio markets. Maybe then they can build a bigger fanbase regionally so they get better time slots.

All righty then! :D
