I can't believe I just bought tickets! I though they'd be too pricey or not available. But just got a Ticketmaster e-mail, so I figured that I'd just check out what I thought that I couldn't afford. It took me to an NFL Ticket Exchange website, where upper level endzone seats are available for $120 and up.

Long story short, Christmas bonus + cash gifts = 2 playoff tickets for me and my son. He's going to be floored when I tell him tonight!

Money comes and goes, but this is a once-in-a-lifetime event. This is our team's first playoff trip, and for it to be at Reliant, it's just too tempting to pass up. And it will be something he will remember for the rest of his life.

That's awesome DB....

I hope you and your son have a great time...

I just got married and spent a lot on the wedding and the trip....

I'm Jealous!!!!!

Woohoo!

Congratulations. Yell your head off!

Oh yeah! But only on defense!

Thanks, man. I'm still sorta' in shock. It's a quick decision, but I figured what the heck, you only live once. Still a lot of money (to me), but it's like one of those Visa commercials: priceless.

I've worn my Texans hardhat to every game that I've been to at Reliant, so can't wait to dust it off and wear it Saturday.

Proud for ya DB, not as proud as if it were me, but I know you and your son will represent.... if you come out of the stadium with a voice, you didn't give it your all! :)

Awesome DB! Have a blast!

Thanks, man! We will have a blast, without a doubt. I can't wait to tell my boy tonight. I think I'm going to razz him a little. Tell him that we can't watch the game at home first before giving him the good news.

congratulations....and come early and enjoy the tailgating...

Thanks, man-with-a-great-name (I'm a huge Rush fan)!

I will definitely come hang with many of my Texans friends before the game. And without a doubt, I will be in my seat by the national anthem. I want to absorb every second of this game.

Thanks, bro'! Voice will be gone by 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Of that I am certain. I ended up talking my best buddy, Jungle Bob, into a ticket, as well. We will be up in Gridiron, Tx, but definitely a part of the 70,000+ strong 12th man for our team.

You made an excellent decision, and I am insanely jealous!

If I didn't live so far away, I'd be there in a heartbeat

Thanks, gt! I'm having a hard time working now. I've got to focus on my job, but it's not often that you can get so excited about something as an adult. It's like a kid a Christmas, it can't get here soon enough, y'know!

Awesome bro!! So happy for you! I was able to buy a single ticket from ticketmaster right when they went on sale and am down in 115. Don't care that I am sitting by myself. I am stoked!!!

This thread has been a really bad influence on me!

I just checked flights and I could fly in to Houston on Friday evening from Boston and go back on Sunday all for $180 round trip. If there are tickets available in the $100s...

Someone convince me not to do it!

Awesome, man! I have been so tempted to buy a single seat, but I hated the thought of my boy at home alone watching the game. Fortunately, I got the magic e-mail! lol!

LOL, Nice!

Hopefully, I can see you at the tailgate and you can tell us what his reaction is.

Right on DB!!! Congrats man!

Right on, man! We will crash the Blue Crew! Of course, y'all are so open to fellow fans that nobody really crashes your tailgate. :fans:

Cool! Just no "Love ya Steel Blue" stuff...ok? j/k!!!

lol! I hear ya'. Nope, I will be wearing my jersey and hard hat. Will keep my Gridiron, Tx shirt for under my jersey. Gotta' represent!

LOL, Nice!

Cool, man! I look forward to meeting you there. :)

You know you have an open invitation to come by our tailgate... would be nice to see you again !! Glad to hear you are going to make it to the game !!

LOL!! You KNOW how I feel DB!! Can't wait to see ya there, and your boy!! Is this the one who looks like he could be our next probowl linebacker?? Better tell him outside cause he just might blow the roof off your house!!:)

Gonna be a GREAT day at Reliant!!

Right on, man! Appreciate the invite. I'm sure we will stop by during our trek across orange lot from the train stop. I look forward to seeing you Saturday!

I'm bringing my youngest son to this one. He was born in 2002, the Texans first year. He's a Taurus, too, just like Toro! hehe

This is his first year in his life to experience a winning team, and he's going to be floored when I tell him tonight.

I'd love to bring my oldest son, but logistics prove tough and he needs lots of leg room to be comfortable.

My brother told me that your son had gotten hurt...been meaning to ask you if he is ok...???

yeah, he hurt his MCL in a no pads practice. He usually wears those titanium braces the school bought him for protection, but since it was a walk-thru, he decided to leave them behind.

A freshman O-lineman fell on him and took him out for the rest of the season, right before the Sam Houston game at Reliant. It's his first injury, so he's kinda' bummed, but focusing on rehab and getting his strength back for next season.

He's got one year left. He hopes to be seen and get a combine invite, but playing at SFA might not give him exposure. And at 6'10", he's on the tall side for O-linemen.

But he's doing good. Just needs to watch his weight right now, because the boy has an appetite!

Cool....

My brother is going back for one more year as well so looks like they'll be coming out together...

Hopefully they have a better season next year....that'd help them from an exposure standpoint....

Killer! You have been on my mind as of late on how you were dealing with the mental twister of first playoff game, budget and access to tickets.

The Bulls are aligning. Reliant is better when you are there. :texflag:

Good Deal DB! Wish I could make it.

My wife just asked if I wanted to take my son to see Monster Trucks Saturday at 2 p.m. She looked really confused when I said I couldn't make it this time...until she remembered my game is on Saturday (She's a Steelers fan and they play Sunday). Long story short I'll be watching the game on Saturday and I'll be taking my boy to see the Trucks in Baltimore in March.

good job... you inspired me to do the same. Got 2 at $120. My wife turned 30 today so I used that as an excuse to use $ I don't have. I haven't been back to a game since '08 so I am pumped!

Close family friends of mine are taking us, and they are yellow lot tailgaters. That means for the first time(27 games) I will not be partying down in the platinum/blue lot. Makes me sad in a way, because I'd love to be there again parked next to Raging Bull, drinking beer with Brock and gang at St. Arnold's, and of course hanging with the blue crew... but just being at the game is good enough.

Thanks, man! I was torn between wanting to go with all my being, but not wanting my son to be at home watching the game alone. So this is the best of all worlds, including one of my oldest friends and fellow fanatic with Jungle Bob.

My boy had a hard time getting to sleep last night because he's so excited. And that's what it's all about. Experiences and memories that last a lifetime. The money was gifted to me, so my only regret would be to not use it for this game.

That's great, DB! Hope to see you there.

Thanks, Lucky! I hope to see you there, as well! :)

My sister moved to New Jersey a couple of years ago with her daughters, and I'm sure it's killing her to not have a chance to go to the game, as well. She's widowed now, but her husband was a huge Texans fans with a gigantic logo painted in their house. He was building a Texans room when he got sick, and is buried in his jersey. I plan to get her an AFCS Championship shirt soon, so at least she can have a great reminder of this season.

I'll be at the monster truck show at Reliant the next weekend...unless, of course, the Texans win this weekend and their game conflicts with the schedule.

Sometimes you just have to disregard things and make the jump. You can never regret great memories, and this Saturday will certainly shape up to be one of them regardless of outcome. Glad you are making the trip!

After lots of deliberation, I've decided I won't be able to make it to this game. But I will be there in spirit!

Special thank you to Stan for offering me a great deal. Everyone should rep him for me!

Also, my dad will be attending the game and is parking in the blue lot. Would anyone mind if I sent him over your way for some pre game tailgating? He's not part of any groups

I'm just going to plan on attending the AFC Championship game here in Boston when the Texans play the Patriots. (When, not IF!). Unless of course the Steelers beat the Pats and we play the Steelers in Houston. Also acceptable!

In all my times hanging out with the Blue Crew, they never turned down a single person. Even saw opposing fans there from time to time. I'm positive any of them who read this will say the same. Platinum Lot, front row in the corner. I think at one point there was an actual map someone made that showed their location.

Yeah...that Yellow Lot really SUCKS for tailgating. I would hate it there too. :sarcasm: :stirpot:

Though I know you are jk, don't get me wrong, I have no problem with Yellow. It's more like saying I'll have a great time in San Antonio, but I miss being home.

I have no doubt I'll enjoy myself greatly. You do get accustomed to drinking fresh St. A's with the owner next to their Bentley, followed by JoeTexan "eating a lightning bolt"(see:Chargers game), among everything else. And I do still have other close friends out there as well.

If I see you out there and have the chance then I'll stop by to say hi so you can stir in person... ha.

Well there you go, gtexan02... Send you're dad that way and they'll take care of him. He'll pass by Raging Bull's setup on the way there and I'm sure he'd enjoy there as well. Blue Crew feels more like a family type thing so I preferred being with those guys when not at my own former setup in between the two.

I miss all my old friends in the yellow lot! Fans on grass always do it right. I wish the train stop was in between yellow and orange/blue, so at least I could hit one side before the game and the other side after.

So, I had never been to a game as of last year. As a wedding gift, my wife got us tickets to see the season ending game vs the Jags. This year rolls around, and we got a 3 pack of tickets for colts, jags, and titans game. So when playoffs hit, I tried to temper myself and say I had a good season. I bought tickets to 3 games, and got a pair for free to the falcons game. I saw a lot, I need to sit this one out and save the money. I had finally talked myself into watching it on tv when my wife turns to me and says "Why the hell don't we have tickets yet?"

When even she turns on me for not buying them, I had to do something. So I got a few seats in 619 row B. Anyone on this board around there? I am so stoked about going now!

We'll be next door in section 618. I can't remember the row, tho'. I think it's row K, iirc.

Its taken some time, but I have trained her well. Since we have started dating, she has gone from not watching games, to watching them (but only for me), to actually paying attention to the game to enjoying them.

It was the same thing with the NBA (I am a spurs fan). She used to go to games with me and never watch the game. Refused to watch it on TV. End of last season, I come downstairs and shes got the game on alone screaming at the TV when we take a bad shot. I was like man, I trained her so well...

Your enthusiasm makes me want to purchase tickets for the game DB. Hope you and your son have an awsome time. If you haven't told him yet, maybe you should wait until that morning and surprise him.

Ahh, that's cool, man! Many females are not so trainable. ;)

Thanks, Tex! You should take the leap! This is the moment for the franchise, and it is this kind of game and more specifically, this kind of dominant defense, where a true 12th man can provide the edge of homefield advantage. I want to be a part of that, part of the mass of fans who are united in a single cause of supporting our team and disrupting the opposing team's gameplan.

I learned long ago that good crowds cannot make bad defenses good. But, when you take a great defense and add a rabid crowd, things get elevated. Our players get pumped and feed off of it. The other team can get rattled into making mistakes, which feeds the fans. It's a beautiful thing, man, and something that I just could not resist.

I did tell my boy. I wanted him to look forward to it and be as excited as I am. And he is. Little guy is still in a state of shock that his ol' man pulled the trigger. He understands the value of money - specifically that I could have bought a PS3, like he stated - but I told him this is about the experience, about the memories of something he will remember for the rest of his life. We can always save up funds for a game console. You can't always just go to an NFL playoff game, especially our team's first in it's history. No matter the outcome, that's something special to be a part of, just like 19-10 in the beginning.

LOUD, PROUD, AND TEXAN!!! :texflag:
