I'm all for this signing.

Yes this has been discussed in both the injury thread and the random thought of the day if you want to catch up with those thoughts. Several opinions on whether he should be signed.

Sir it looks like you have a serious case of premature postalation. symptoms include getting ahead of ones self, lack of verification, and worst of all getting way too excited too soon, only to be let down after nothing happens. This causes blue posting, a reversible condition. See your postologist for treatment.

:jam: :whip:

How is this official? Pending a physical in this case isn't just for show. Its not a done deal.. yet.

He is coming off a broken ankle and of course the knee situation.

Can a postologist be found at the local post office?

He's not going to be much, but he could be a good backup if not used to much. He isn't lasting much longer in the NFL, that's for sure. If he even makes it through this season, which I doubt.

I'm Dr. Thorn, a noted postologist, and my prognosis is acute hysteria following his post-posting activities.

He is better today than DJ was in Arizona unless that knee is completely gone. This is a great low rosk high reward signing…assuming he passes the physical. I dont see the downside debbie frowners…

4 time Pro Bowl RB? Haven’t been this excited since we fleeced the Cardinals for David Johnson.

This made me laugh then cry.

If he is healthy he can be a good backup for Mixon but the thing is he hasn't been healthy in 3 or 4 years.

Look at his workout videos. Im actually strongly in favor of this signing after seeing his workout. Yes…workout isn't the same as playing a game, but he also was a full participant in the minicamp…thats prrof to the pudding. And he is two years off the knee, which he played on last year until the ankle.

Is he the same guy as 2022? That would be amazing but its doubtful. But if he is 80% the same guy, thats a top 10 RB. Asking too much? Fine. What if he is a solid short yardage and goal line back that includes plus pass blocking ability. Still a very valuable piece.

And at 2.5 mil…there is almost zero financial risk. Dobbins signed for double that in Denver, and although Dobbins is a nice back in his own right when healthy…if both are at 80% of peak…it isnt close. Chubb was on track to be in Canton. Dobbins…not so much.

Nick gets an A+ on this one from me.

Thing about Chubb that’s interesting:
Despite his severe injury the Browns made him their RB1 ahead of Jerome Ford and D’onta Foreman as soon as he was in football shape. And despite the clown car QB play making them a one dimensional unit.

His only game under 11 touches was his last one against the Chiefs where he ended with 9 touches. Going back to college, he has operated well with a second back (Sony Michel at Georgia, Kareem Hunt in Cleveland). I think there will be enough carries to go around for both him and Mixon to get their production.

Do I think he is going to put up all pro numbers? No.

But I do think he can be a steady source of production the team can rely on without riding Mixon into the ground.

Thats some extremely lofty goals for a #2 back coming off multiple major injuries.

I dont think Chubb is known as a pass catcher. Hes ground and pound.

Im very high on this addition. I think he exceeds the average expectation, but unless Mixon is down for a decent period of time, i dont see him hitting the numbers posted above. Would love to see it though!

If Chubb gets 942 yards, 4 TDs, and averages 5.4 YPC, in addition to his known receiving skills out of the backfield, I will take that all day. Assuming that he's RB2 and spelling Mixon.
I can’t see a world where he gets those numbers. That’s a home run signing if true and I just don’t see him doing it after that injury.

I’m hoping for him to simply stay North of 4 ypc and figure out the rest based on Mixon’s own health situation.

Also as Porky said I don’t think Chubb has been known much for his pass catching ability and I’d expect at this point in his career that he’d be more of a two down player and we would see either Marks or Ogunbuwale on 3rd downs or pass catching situations.

Just so everyone is clear, I don't think he's going to get anywhere near those numbers. TheRealJoker mentioned Ben Tate in 2011 w/ Foster, and those were Tate's numbers in 2011. Outside of seeing his stats in fantasy football when I used to play, I don't think I've seen him play very often.
