I Am So Confused

cuppacoffee

Resident Grouch
Anyone see G Walker on TV last night(Thursday).
I caught the very end of the interview, I think it was on 13 sports. Walker was very adamant that our problem was not the coaching. The only part I caught was where he was stating that the same coaching got us the lead in the game. He seemed very sincere and did not come across as just being PC.

Is it the players?
Up to this point I though our players were better than they were showing.

Is it the coaching?
Thats were my money was, but Walker knows tons more about football than me, should I defer to his opinion?

Who should we blame? Who should we draft? Should we fire someone?idonno:
I am so confused. Maybe I am just getting too old for all this stress.

I think I'll just jump into my 49 Model Kaiser Toro, or my 50 model Cadahanic, drive down to the local Ibar with my beerlover friend bottleobud. Might just order a cuppacoffee or maybe a hottoddie. If I'm lucky maybe I will run into an erratic assasin with a new doublebarrel......nah....better go put up the Christmas lights before grandma comes in here and catches me on her computer again.

cac: :coffee:

But then again, you wouldn't expect him to say that it was the coaching, would you?

two words- American Barleywine more satisfying than a cuppacoffee & stronger than a hottoddie :heh:

What does my boy CADAHNIC have anything to do with it. Is he just one of your favorite posters or do you not respect him or something. At least you are calling him a classic

Your confusion is only compounded by your caffeinated condition conspicuoulsy concocted with a confluence of cherry and choclate charcteristics in your cup of coffee. Any one who knows anything about the Kaiser Toro is that the first model did not come out until 1970. ;)

Of Course Walker is not gonna say the coaching.. he wants to be a team player..

Yeah it was the same coaching that you got us the 24 point lead but it was the same coaching that blew the lead in the second half..

David Justice's column on Monday ( or Tues?) demonstrated that it WAS the coaching on Sunday. Both the defense and offsense became much more conservative in the second half. Not like some fans said that they didn't pass in the second half, they did, just not down the field like what worked in the first half. On defense they stopped the blitzing, and more complex coverages for a more vanilla look. In short both sides starting playing not to lose, rather than to win. David covered it nicely.

So in my mind the coaches, with some help from Coleman, absolutely lost the game.

I think the major problem is the fact that he was from Harvard. I think it's the whole, jock vs. nerd thing. The kid played great, no doubt. But I think people wouldn't be as flustered about it if the kid was from like Tenn or any Florida school, schools with a proven track record of producting quality QBs.

Almost as bad as having a pedigree through one of the military academies - say Navy and Staubach for instance. How could anyone lose to that dude?

Jimmy Johnson says the talent on this team sucks more than the coaches do. Just thought I would add that.

But hey after you do all the drinking you just might wanna get down to some El Tejano music.

I'm not a huge fan of this coaching staff, but David (or whatever his name is) got it wrong. The coaches did not:

Fumble an interception they didn't need to make
Give a high snap on a FG attempt
Let a pass ricochet off their chest for an interception
Rough the QB on 3rd & goal
Draw a holding penalty on a running play
Allow a receiver to get behind a deep zone defense

Any one of these events not occur, and the Texans likely win in regulation. And we have a plethora of threads damning the Texans for ruining their draft slot. This time, Capers got it right. It was about a lack of execution.

He did a hell of a job.. rate a 117+ and he has a Pro contract. I see no shame in his game... this kid has skills.

I agree, caddy. I honestly hope he turns out to be a good NFL QB instead of a flash in the pan. At least the Texans choke could be justified that the kid ended up having game (unlike Frank Reich many years ago, who seemed to disappear from the NFL after the comeback).

What he said. :thumbup That's the nail on the head for the last game, regardless of playcalling.

The Texans were actually the victim of their own first half success Sunday against the Rams since they had a 3 TD lead going into the beginning of the second half and really didn't know what to do with it. When have they had that kind of lead, and in the 2nd half ? And even some teams with aggressive offenses shut it down and work on the clock with a lead like that after half time, and its tough to rev up the momentum again if necessary. And if they continue to play that way, they will win 2 or 3 more games against the
remaining opponents who aren't the likes of Indy (2 times), Pittsburg, etc.
from early and mid season. And they'll finish in the 5-10 range for a Draft slot
because they loose every tie-breaker with the other 2 and 3 win teams. So
forget about drafting Reggie Bush.

True enough, but wouldn't it have been nice if a coach, any coach had been able to settle the players and stopped the silly boo boo errors? We see it done every weekend college and pro. A strong coach calls a timeout and "fixes" the boo boos and eliminates booing of the fans. Too bad it imploded after the half. Reminded me of the Oiler Bills game.:brickwall

heh-heh-heh, funny cac! :heh: I didn't absorb this paragraph the first time around. That's classic.

oh jeez a season that seemed so promisisng has come down to this, the coaches got conservative after we had a big lead and let it get away, they didnt blitz as much and they ran the ball a lot more than they did in the first half.

Don't blame the Coaches or the Players, I Blame each and every fan that was at the game against the Rams. You people can not trust what you are seeing with your own eyes, You should have known that game was an illusion. How could you have not notice that the Texans were scoring touchdowns and ahead at the Half. I guess it was easy for me to not beleive because I had to hear it on the Radio for 3 hours, so dont feel bad..
