I Am A Texan Fan

And I don't care who knows it!

I am not anonymous, I have not scrapped off any stickers off my truck. Have not put away any Texan stuff that is out on display in my home. Still wear my t-shirts and jersey.

Am I thrilled when they lose a gome - nope. But it is just a game. I don't let a game get the better of me and ruin my Sunday or week. I still have a family to take care of. The sun still comes up in the morning. My grandchildren still come to see me.

I don't have to sit at my computer and vent my frustrations to people I don't really know and try to ruin their day also.

Some of you guys grew up in an age where there is a 60 second solution to everything.(Just check the ads on TV or the radio). Most things take time. Some things take longer time. Just ask a LIons fan or a Cardinals fan.

I am here for the long haul. Even if it takes 2 more years or 4 or more. Doesn't matter.
I am a Texan Fan.

Why give up now? I'm in for the long haul. Imagine how great it will feel when we are consistently good and who cares how long it takes.

I'm a Texan. :texflag:

I'm still here....griping. :)

I don't believe things are as bad as they look this year, but that's what's so frustrating.

We're a better team than we show on the field. Perhaps not playoff caliber, but we are better than our record indicates.

I'm a Texan fan! Frustrated no doubt, but glad to be here.

I'm with ya there! Every Sunday morning my #80 jersey goes on and I wear it everywhere that day, (Lowes, Sam's, Wal-Mart, grocery store) and its a cool feeling seeing other Texans' fan having on they're jerseys, t-shirts or whatever and you get that acknowledgment nod passing em in the aisles or wherever. :texflag:

he even wears it to.......doh, nevermind NSFW :gotexans1

I Am A Texan Fan! No matter how mad I get at my team, I could never turn my back on them, ever. They're my favorite team in this world and nothing will change about that.

I still dress up every Sunday in my favorite Texans gear. I still wear my Texans hats everywhere I go. I still have my stickers all over my truck. Nothing is going to change about that. I love my team no matter what.

BATTLE RED BLEEDER! :texflag:

My wife's and my name are on the wall outside of Reliant, we drive 167 miles door to door for every home game, I wear my Texans jersey to work every Friday, and introduce new people to the Texans experience all the time. I have spent more time and money on this particular extra curricular activity more than any other in my life. I am a fan that cares, and I will not stop being a fan in bad times and good times. Some times that means being vocal about your displeasure of the current state of affairs.

Fire Smith and fire Hoke and win the next two divisional games.

The bad times of today will only make the good times of tomorrow better and more appreciated. I can't wait for the day when we're talking about how things used to be and laughing about it. Houston is a football town and Texas is a football state.......a football championship in Houston will happen one day and I intend to hang on for the ride until then.

Didn't you see? Richard Justice says in his blog that Hoke should be the interim DC because he has fire. Seriously.

I think that it demonstrates character to pick a team that is Your Team and to support it in good times and in bad. It's more fun supporting a team than just being a fan of the NFL. You know, the difference between your child and other people's children. You always want good things to happen to kids, but it means more when it is your kid.

What are these good times that you speak of?? :foottap:

Mostly in the tailgate so far.

But I can imagine how wonderful it would be. It's like relativity.

Those who started out their lives with nothing and then make a success of it often have a greater appreciation for it than someone who just inherited success.

I hate this team. But I love this team.

Somehow, the two halves of me are able to co-exist. But it is a tense atmosphere inside this body right now.

Lots of yelling.

It has been weirding me out for a long time.

Sheesh...that thing is creepy.

Agreed. The tailgating has been pretty dern good.

I like your upside approach with regard to appreciating success from nothing as opposed to inheriting it... Dang Steph, are you a therapist as well???

PS. We're going to try to make it to Nick's this afternoon.

My team has pretty much sucked since it's inception, but I hold out hope that one day it will turn around and I can honestly say that I was there from day one. I will never ever cheer for the ex wife that I dearly loved but left me to live in TN (the titans) and I will never cheer for the classless skank that gets into bed with any low life that run, catch or tackle (cowboys).

i come here to talk about my texans positive or negative and throw out ideas and OPN on how to fix the team

i als like talking about my fav players

I love my team and I love my fan friends, It's the atmosphere the genuine pleasure I feel when I'm in my seats or out on the grass with my fan friends!

Houston, we have a TEAM! a BIG team! We'll get there. . .and when we do. . .Look out!:texflag:

i wish it was that simple. its been 30+ years and counting and we haven't had a sniff. Got close 3 or 4 times but failed in the end. I think I would be content with the occassional playoff appearance and just take your best shot. We will have to find a truly qualified and competent head coach for the longterm and have some really good strong drafts/personnel moves in order to move into the exclusive championship club.

My fan focus is back on the QB position. Kubiak is gonna be brought back so now its all about the decision they make this offseason. Do they pick up Schaub's option or plead to his agent to reneg *good luck*? Do they anoint Sage the starter and lock him up as his contract ends after the 2009 season? Do they go out and pick up a starting QB prospect in FA or the draft? Cassell in FA? trade with the Browns for Anderson? give Leinart or hahaha Vince a chance to show some of the promise they showed in college? Jeff Garcia and his hot Playmate wife come to Houston?

A lot of QBs wouldn't mind coming here as we have probably the best WR aside from Randy Moss in Andre Johnson. I love Schaub and he has done a pretty damn good job all things considered but he just can't stay healthy. We can't give that guy $20million. We need to learn from the past, not repeat it.

yep, I'm a Houston Texan fanatic for life. :cowboy1: :texflag:

But I ain't wearing blinders and I'm not drinking any koolaide.

Only game in town so I guess I am too but I was an Oilers fan a lot longer and the Texans haven't gotten as far under my skin as the Oilers did.

But since I'm a homer kind of guy what choice do I have? Go Texans!

so many great Oilers from the old days. both eras, Luv Ya Blue and Run N Shoot. The only guy on the Texans roster who would have even made it on the field on those teams would be Andre Johnson and maybe Mario Williams #2 on the DE depth chart behind Bethea but ahead of Stensrud. Fuller and Jones would probably relegate Mario to #3 on the RNS DE depth chart. No one else besides those 2 on the Texans would get a sniff of playing time.

Man, I'd love to have our linebackers from the days of the House of Pain!

Yep I stopped wearing the blinders and drinking the koolaide since 2005. I still love my Texans, since 1999 and from now on, I will never jump ship.

Demeco Ryans

I think those guys would get significant playing time on most of those Oilers teams, and start on many. Those are the ones that stick out in my mind, along with MW and AJ.

I think being a fan is more than just accepting everything at face value. The fun and interest for me in following any Houston team is to try to see how my ideas on plays, players, trades, draft picks, etc compare to the guys who get paid. When I invest my off time in anything be it a game or racing another boat at 100 mph +, I expect things to happen for me. Sometimes, it is the excitement of seeing a great play or the satisfaction of seeing a smart trade pulled off. Remember the QB we drafted low and sent to Dallas for a higher pick? Not all trades are PBuc. Not always is there satisfaction of beating the other guy or boat but the effort.

Yes, I do get frustrated and upset when several players on a team do not put out effort such as the Astros on the first half of season last 2-3 years. Or when the Rockets blow and easy game and then want to point to 23 wins in a row. Or when the Texans just can not seem to get a play in or have to call time out because they have 13 players on the field. Does not mean I will am giving up on team, but does mean I might turn tv off and find something better to do.

The Texans have had more than 60 seconds. It has been years and we seem to be going backwards. Pull up my posts from before this season and you will find me saying I will not focus on Ws this year. I just wanted to see progress and certain players developing. That is still what I want. Unfortunately, I seem to be focusing more on who is coming out early for next year.

I wish your team success in the years to come. Seriously, of all the AFC South I actually have some kind of love for you guys. I just straight up hate the Jaguars and the Colts just make me sick... but if it were not for Houston I wouldn't even have the team I love... plus you guys have really stunk so I feel like you deserve some breaks... what I'm trying to say, and I've said as much here before.. I'm looking forward to a time when Texans vs. Titans is Monday Night Football rather than Colts vs. Titans. Good luck.

I'm on record as being a fan in the 2-14 season, so there is no way I'm bailing now. Let's see what happens when the Texans get an actual D.C.

Very well said. And I agree with you.
Reps your way.

Same here! Hanging in there for the duration!

Not going anywhere. I work with Jags fan, Colts fan and two cowgirl fans (one being my boss) and I still wear my hat and shirts to work every Friday.

Not going to change ever!!

Regardless of what may or may not happen with things, I love my team and I love those I have met and now call friends because of said love of team.

I'm with Gram (tried to rep but couldn't); he said it all.

I was thinking on my way home the other day about how much roomier it is on the Texans' Bandwagon these days.

Well, I'm with Gram; I ain't gettin' off no matter how rough the ride seems at the moment.

Now I may argue with the other passengers about how good of a job the wagon driver is doing these days or whether he's got all the horses necessary to pull this wagon where we want it to go. But hey, that's all part of the ride.

I'm ridin' with Texans. Texans don't quit.
:texflag:

I'm a Texan fan no matter what. If I stayed with them thru 2-14 - no reason to bail now. I love going to the games even though I get up at 0400 for noon games. I'm becoming accustomed to frustration and depression - just part of being a Texan fan. Someday the old bandwagon will be really crowded and I intend to have a reserved seat.

Am I a Texans fan? Hell no. I just always wanted to know what it's like to be a season ticket holder and since I live in Houston, I went with Texans tickets.

What's kept me buying them for 7 straight seasons? Well, uh...umm....I'm trying to see if I can set some kind of record for the amount of money spent on a team I don't care about...yeah, that's it. I mean, who does that?

Plus I can act like I'm rooting for them and when they blow it, it's no big deal. I just kinda chuckle inside about all these fools around me continously letting this team ruin their Sundays.

Love you!:fans:

sounds like someone has insider information
:)

I know of 3 people at work that like the Texans

I have a hat and a couple of shirts that I wear around town.

Another guy at work has a hat and a jacket that he wears

and the third guy has a bumper sticker of the texans

speaking of which I need to get me another Texans hitch cover.. I have had two and and someone rear ending me broke that one and the plastic one got swiped hmmm

Daniels may have made the LuvYaBlue lineup. I did miss on Dunta. Probably wouldn't have started for LuvYaBlue but he would have definitely beaten out Brown at DB on the RNS teams. That guy just picked the worst times to get beat. Dunta would have been either #1 or #2 with Dishman. hard to say.
