hypothetical would u do it??

i was a big supporter of drafting dc out of the gate, but it seems like hes not going to turn out to be the stud i thought he was. yeah the oline....... anyway, im seeing guys who are showing more potential or who i consider to be on the same level as dc. palmer, leftwich, ben. this class is going to be huge for qb's, leinart, jacobs, dare i say VY? anyway trade dc to tenn for their 1st and volek. we get a 1-4 pick and a qb who is on par with dc and we can bring jacobs or leinart along slowly. i just see more potential for those two. what do u guys think? worst case were stuck with dbrickashaw ferguson at lt and volek at qb.

Why dont you guys make your decision or express opinions about DC after this season. There is no way in hell they will bench DC or trade him until everyone sees how this season progresses and its only been one game folks!

Sorry you actually believed the hype about carr some of us knew all along he was going to be a bust serviceable at best he was never worth a 1st pick overall. peppers would of been the natural and smart pick you just cant put your franchise hopes on a qb the played his college ball in the wac conference i mean thats why we had the trent dilfers that prove that much in the past. trent dilfer was a better qb for fresno state and that not saying much when you cant be as good as trent dilfer. well thats my :twocents: i wish our gm would of been smart enough to see david carr was a wasted pick.
but honestly Casserly was the GM to draft Heath Shuler :brickwall oh my i wish we had a time machine. :texflag:

man i completely forgot about shuler. i never put that together, casserly drafted shuler. well ive still got his rookie card if anyone wants to wipe their

It would take a hell of a lot more problems before we started looking at another QB. And with the QBs being the high prospects this year, they will probably go fast. Texans should stick to looking for a TE or a #2 man. Course, this is all speculation going on what - 9 months from now?

Last year the board thought it was obvious we needed a stud left tackle at this point. How times have changed in the past week. I'll watch a few more games and gather a little more data before I make up my mind.

In one sense this comment makes a lot of sense from a technical point of view in a funny way, because when Volek was at Fresno State he ran the Veer which is probably more in line with what Capers wants to do. Carr actually fits better in the type of offense Chow wants to run at Tennessee. Again, I really feel that the problem is Capers in that he can't use what Casserly is giving him in the way of players. If the player doesn't fit Caper's mold it's a big waste even though by Casserly's standards the player is the best left on the board....................

Carr was 12th last year in passing yards let's not go to extreme after a bad opener. Based off last season, I think we need other priorities in the coming offseason. Too early in this season to know what to look for later.

Agree with the above, no way Titans make a trade like that - mainly because they're not the "agressor" in your trade scenario.

Carr is a great QB and in the same mold of a young Brett Favre. He has a cannon and heart plus he is mobile. Once the offense and offensive playcalling get right you *******s will be eating your words. Do we really want to be the falcons that let B.F. get away.

Carr has not played what could be considered a good game since the week 8 game against Jax last year. He has thrown for 200+ yards once (208 against the Bears in week 15). The guy is shot and it's time to start looking elsewhere for our franchise QB.

Yea, that MUST be it. You know, since no good QBs come from small/non-BCS conferences right. I'm gonna read you off a list of names, let's see what they have in common, shall we?

Pennington
Warner
Culpepper
Leftwich
Roethlisberger
McNair
Favre
Losman
Delhomme
Rattay
Alex Smith

Now what do these players have in common??

None of them were the first pick in the draft, except for Smith.

How many more variables are we gonna throw out there to dog Carr? His last name has fewer letters than any of them? He's the only one of them to play for a school whose first letter was F?

haha this is funny once david carr strings along a couple of good games you same people that are dogging him are going to be calling him god, come on guys it's one game, need i remind you how the astros stunk last year and this year, how the rockets started last year hovering around .500, in the nfl more than any sport, it's not how you start it's how you finish detroit started 2-0 last year and went on to be 6-10, give this team some time ya the schedule is hard but if they pull a couple games out here and maybe sit around .500 mid way through the season you could see this team make a push for the playoffs........ dont jump off the band wagon just yet people

I am not dogging Carr for the school he played for. My point is that Small to Medium sized schools (BCS defined only) have put out some terrific players. This list of players that you provided, most of them have been more successful than Carr and came with a smaller price tag.

No it's not. He has played poorly in each of his last 10 games going back to last season. Toss in the 2 horrible outings in the preseason and the pattern is clear. The guy has lost whatever it was he had.

I dont think its all him but, if he has lost it, you need to blame the franchise. No player can take the beating he has and still be perfect. His trust in the organization is shot, which shows by his scared rabbit play style. He begged for more protection and they did next to NOTHING. This problem may not be resolved until new blood comes in and follows through with their promises.

:texflag:

Considering everyone had a bad game then would we run the same scenario of equal porportions on ALL the players? Do we fire the coaches too in your scenario?

Carr is taking more of his share of the blame for this loss.

Here's my thoughts on Carr:

He's proven he's a good QB, he has this season to prove he's a great one. Great quarterbacks win football games. Period. The O-line is extremely important, but the intangibles your QB can bring are important too. You can't tell me that if Donovan McNabb or Daunte Culpepper were our QB we couldn't find a way to score some points. This is Carr's chance to prove he's that caliber a player (and I really think he might be). The Carr in this opening game did not look like the guy who took every snap of the season as a rookie, while setting an all time sack record. I want him to show that kind of heart and leadership again. When he get's forced to run - I don't want to see any of this sliding bull****. He's a big boy, he can take a lick, and God knows we need every yard we can get. I want to see him make better decisions. Sometimes he is going to have to just throw the ball out of bounds, but he seems to do it too often at the wrong times. Like on 3rd down. If he throws a pass that bounces of his receivers elbow, if his receiver gives up on a route early, if his receiver fails to come back towards him when he get's in trouble - I want to see him running down field and grabbing that receiver by his face mask and giving that dude a piece of his mind. I'm saving judgement 'till the season ends. I think Carr can be great, but I need to see the toughness and intensity he showed in his first season. If he's become complacent - we don't need him as a leader.

I don't think Carr is completely to blame for this loss. I don't think he's "god" when he plays well either but in the past I think I did. I've come to the realization that David Carr is not "RoboQuarterback" and there are very real issues with his game that, in our current state become very magnified. The very things that Carr comes up short at are the ones we least can afford to have a QB do so it looks worse than it is.

It doesn't mean he sucks or that we need to trade him for Volek. It just means that we need to do what every other team in the NFL does. We need to gear our offense towards his strengths and try to minimize his weaknesses.

I keep hearing that Sportsradio 610 Budweiser commercial parody:

"Here's to you Mr Preposterous Trade Suggestor...."

All of them have sustained some form of an injury in that past few years!

We need a Stud LT in rd 1 and then either block first catch second TE in rd 2, or a stud WR in round 2(then the TE in rd 3.)
Then we can drop Bradford, use AJ Mathis on the ends, use stud WR pick in the 3, and utulize Gafney as a 4

Well Alex, I will take who are people who have never eaten in my mother's kitchen for 1000.

Unfortunately, probably only 1 or 2 people will figure that out.

If you think Leftwich is better than Carr you need to put the pipe down. Do a little research. Leftwich has had a better defense, better O-line, and still he has repeatedly put up worse numbers than Carr.

Also if you put Carr on the 04' Steelers, he probably would have been selected to the probowl. Throw Big Ben in our offense and behind our O-line last year and everyone would have been yelling that we had a BUST of a #1 pick.

There are 10 other guys on the field. Their play matters too.

Their hair isnt as pretty as David's was. :yahoo:
None have gotten a haircut live on tv.

maybe the opening game in Buffalo wasn't Carr's best, even half best but what I liked that gives me hope is that he held his composure under brutel circumstances. the only touchdown drive all day was Carr carrying the team on his back/head. if Bradford had good hands and caught that one bomb right in the middle of his chest its 14-19 and a whole new ballgame.

I realize the frustration everyone feels on this board but Carr gives the Texans their best chance to be a winning team, he needs backs to stay in & pick up the blitz, linemen to open up lanes for the backs to run through & a pocket that doesn't collapse, he also needs receivers besides AJ to step up make the catch & hold onto the ball. if this happens his confidence should improve, his drops will be more decisive as well as his throws and decision making.

I would also like the Texans to let Carr run the shotgun offense :texans:

To the rest of you :baby: stop :crying:

Don't forget to throw caution to the wind and concoct that five team, twenty-three player deal.

I don't beleive it either. I blame the head coach for all of it. They will not let him open the passing game up. Short passes and a running back who cant hit the holes this year. To me, the whole game plan is so predicatable, it's pathetic. I think Carr will be just fine once we draft a stud at running back and a few OL's and leave the defense along.

I knew we were in trouble from the pre-season game where we had 1st and goal and Capers made them run 4 straight running plays to try and score only to be rejected.... Not one pass to the tight end or WR down there.....
