Hypothetical question involving trading pick

i'm just curious to see your guys' thoughts on this. would you be happy with the texans trading their pick to the jets (for leinart obviously) if they received the #4 and #29?

now assuming that trade does take place, what would you guys think of the texans trading AGAIN, this time with broncos for #15 and #22 and obviously any combo of 2nd and 3rd's in this and next years draft and possibly a first in next years.

this would give the texans the #15, #22 and #29 in the first and numerous picks in the 2nd and 3rd this year as well as maybe some next year.

they'd probably be able to get any three of eric winstrom, marcus mcneil, possibly winston justice, chad greenway, ernie sims, bobby carpeenter, jason allen, demeco ryans, mathias kiwanika, laurence maroney, deangelo williams, lendale white or mike huff.

or do you guys think reggie bush/d'brickshaw ferguson are just that "can't miss" it'd be pointless to trade the first pick.

again, this is just hypothetical and i'm just curious on what you guys think.

I would have loved it a couple of weeks ago, before we picked up some solid free agents. I was a trade dwon, then trade down again camper. These pick ups help fill some needs, allowing the Texans to go for BPA as opposed to drafting solely on need.

Don't get me wrong, there are still many holes, but the FA pick ups keeps the front office from being pigeon holed into a must draft OL this round situation.

I would love a trade down in this draft. Frankly, I think I'd trade down to 4 and if Reggie was gone, I'd try to trade down again- with Ferguson gone to New Orleans- an extra 3-4 picks in the first 4 rounds of this draft would be incredible!

Only thing I would trade down for was Ferguson, but it is so obvious that the Saints are taking him now. Reggie.:twocents:

I would do the first trade you suggested in a heartbeat but "pass" on the second one. Reasoning:

With the "4" we could/should take Mario Williams, Hawk or Vernon Davis with #29 and #33 we take two of Winston/Cromartie/Joseph (Davin)/Marshall/Youbotty/Hodge.

With #66 and #67 we take two of Chester/Howard/Sims/Carpenter/Maxey/Watkins

That would be a no for me. I wouldn't move out of the top 3.... There are 3 guys I want and I want a dead set gaurantee of getting one of them. (RB, Brick, Mario). I know people will say Leinart will go in the top 3 or whatever but there is no gauranteed picks till after the draft.

If I was to drop lower than three, it would only be because some team had offered the world and then some.

One other thing about all those day one picks is that with those come pay cheques, and that has to be accounted for.

I'd do the trades if at all possible. If you're not taking VY (the biggest gamble, but the biggest potential payoff) there's no reason for this team to be messing with any of the other top 3 players. Not going to do enough good to be worth the price of admission. So trade down and pull 6 great picks out of the top 64.

The price of admission? Don't you own season tickets?

No reason whatsoever to move that far down in the draft, Reggie Bush and Mario Williams are too good of prospects to pass up on both of them, and each of your trades I think we're getting short-changed a little.

great insight here guys. i think the d'brick or mario would be there at #4 if the texans traded the first pick. jets/titans will take a qb, saints will get d'brick/mario. that would be pretty slick if the texans trade first pick and still land bush.

1. jets - leinart
2. saints - d'brick/mario (unless traded to someone who wants bush/mario/d'brick)
3. titans - cutler/vy
4. texans - mario/d'brick/bush

If they trade down and do not take VY, Kubiak would never hear the end of it and would probably be looking for a new job after Vince takes the Helm of which ever team he goes to if we do not take him. Most VY supporters are going to be pissed as it is if they take reggie, but I feel they will deal with it, to pass on Reggie and then not take Vince is just like writing your butt a check right out of Houston. Unlike the most of you guys who come on this board, about 70 to 75 percent of Texans fans want Vince Young not reggie Bush. It is already going to be hard enough if they do not take Vince and take Bush, but to pass on both of them is poitical suicide. Unless you guys can rally every Aggie in college station to come down here with you and purchas every ticket the Texans sell, I do not see the Texans not passing on Reggie and then not pasing on Young or vise versa.
