How many games are there?

With the preseason officially over, Capers emphasized that every team is 0-0 going into the regular season, including the Texans.

“Everything we’ve done until this point in time really doesn’t make any difference,” he said. “What makes a difference is what we do in Buffalo and for the next 12 weeks after that.”

The above is from the Texans Web site. I have to laugh, because I thought there were 16 games to worry about. Oh, well, just a sign of the times and the kind of coach we have. The defense may be coming together, but the offense is a disaster. Mathis is doing what was expected and the special teams play is doing as expected. However, the weakness in the offense is also as expected and will continue to be the case without the necessary expertise in the coaching ranks to bring it to the forefront. When I made the comments we will try to win the season with special teams play and the defense, you thought it was a joke. I don't think it is. I will say the cutting of a player like Kasper and keeping a player like Bradford is a further indication of the ineptness of the coaching staff. Actually, you could put any other receiver there in place of Bradford and you would be a lot better off.

It looks like its going to be a very long season and I think any hopes of being at least 8-8 are being overly optomistic...................

I agree . 5-11 is a more reasonable forecast in my opinion . At one point i thought they may go .500 . But after the offenses recent ineptitude .... how much can you ask of your defense and special teams .

I don't think that because our coach had a brain laps that it is a sign that he isn't a competent coach. I think Capers was the right man to start our franchise. He has done a great job of getting the team organized and rolling.

Whether or not he is the right coach for the long term, well, we will all be watching and waiting to find that out at the end of the year. For now, I’m going show support for my team, and my coach and address the rest at the end of the season!

GO TEXANS

I've said 9-7 and I'm gonna stick to that.

That is what I've thought as well. I'm a little apprehensive about making that same prediction after our last two preseason, but I a hope that those were games outside of our norm, rather than being the norm.

I’m still shooting for 9-7 which I’d be very happy with.

I would love to see Capers here a long time, because that means that we are winning a long time as well. If Capers has a 10 year career we have at least gone to the Superbowl even if we didn't win it.

People that want Capers gone are asking for the team to do very badly for a couple of seasons. I'd just assume the team win.

To Ibar everything that doesn't go 100% perfect is a sign that our head coach isn't competent and that our football team is headed nowhere.

I have the answer to Ibar's quandary. Look at it this way:

Our last three weeks - home vs Arizona, home vs Jax, and against San Francisco. Looks pretty harmless to me. :texflag:

So did Cleveland at home last year.

I said 9-7 all off-season and prepared myself for a confusing and probably frustrating Preseason. I'm gonna stick with it, even if it seems impossible right now.

Yea, I know someone would come out with the "So did (team)". As fans though, might as well look at every game as a win until we lose it.
