How is our 1st draft pick doing?

phan1

Rookie
Well, I haven't heard much of anything about Dunta Robinson, who is supposed to contribute heavily as a starting rookie for this upcoming season. If anything, I've heard that he was an unsure pick and an overrated player. Well, how is he doing in camp? Is he showing much? Why haven't I seen much of him?

I have never heard that he was overrated, if anything some have said that he was the best CB in the draft over Hall, but he has been doing as well as any rookie CB would doing.

i dont kno but i saw a segement on him i saw he got burnt on a stop and go route but then he did a hit on that same segment
He is a rookie CB so he will get burned but he will be able to hit no matter what...

on "texans huddle" on fsn they had him featured and not to be negative but he didnt get anything right in the clips they showed. he got roasted by bradford & another receiver that i didnt catch who it was, and got flattened trying to come up for run support. he couldnt get around his blocker and then the rb send him in the air out of bounds.

I saw the Bradford one but I didnt see him get flatted by anybody. D-Rob is a big hitter so that is surprising.

But I did see JJ Moses juke Robinson....BADLY. It was ugly...

Well, it's going to SUCK if he can't pick up the position. Our secondray is the most suspect part of our team IMO. There's little depth besides Coleman and Glenn, so he really needs to contribute. If he can't, than I think we should move Coleman back to corner, as shutdown corners are more important than safeties.

Hes a rookie, hes gonna get burned, hes gonna play sloppy at times. Give him some time, asking him to start his first year is a big job. Hes gonna be a weakness, and then at times he'll be a strength this year, but don't give up and think hes a bust, every corner goes through this, he'll be good don't worry.

Give him a break. Cut him some slack. The CB is the hardest position to pick up in all football and is not an easy process. He will get burned but he will also make the great plays. Even Champ Bailey got burned during his rookie season. Give him sometime and you will find out why people are calling him a potential shutdown CB. He will be picked on during pre-season and even early in the season. But he'll learn from it and then you will see why he was picked 10th overall in this year's draft.

Just have some patience.

I don't believe Coleman was ever regarded as a shut down corner. In fact many teams tended to challenge him over Glenn on most plays. I wouldn't say that we lack depth in the secondary. I think Faggins, Wright provide excellent depth provided Wright is healthy. I don't think DC or CC is concerned with the depth at CB either seeing as how they recently released Eric Kelly who was a nickle back for the Minnesota Vikings last season. The Vikings defense led the NFL in getting turnovers last season. If you let a guy like Kelly go that shows that you have pretty good depth. However, if you're still concerned about Robinson then Coleman said something in an interview that will ease your concerns. He mentioned that the coaches told him he'd still be used at CB at times along with being the FS for the team. I imagine that in perhaps nickle or dime packages he'd shift down to CB and McCree would come in at FS. I must echo the sentiment that when you see Robinson play you will be pleasantly surprised with his hitting ability. He'll get burned once in awhile, but even the best corners get burned every now and then.

There probably not a CB in the league that AJ can't manhandle if he gets squared up on him.

exactly.. Outside of maybe Bobby Taylor (which I think would be a good matchup.

Give Dante some time.. he has alot ot learn and will do good and will do bad..It is doing him some good to have AJ to play against!

If this dude is going up against AJ all day in practice, other receivers are going to be a piece of cake for him.

very true ... there arent many in the league that are as fast as aj and fewer as strong. and i cant think of anyone as fast AND strong ... if robinson can begin to hold his own there he should be in good shape.

it's going to be a few games in before he adjusts to the speed of pro ball (hopefully), so he's going to be less than highlight material for a while. i was just pointing out what i saw.

I believe Bradford has burned a few decent CB's in his life and he is only 27 or 28. I am happy to see Dunta facing tough competition in practice. This should be a fun year. I sure hope we get to the playoffs so Ditka will shut his big yapper.

I was pissed off when I heard Ditka say the Texans are a team not getting any better just filling in holes. Well, I started to get very upset until I thought of one important thing. This is the same guy who gave up a plethera of draft picks to draft one Ricky Williams who donned a wedding dress and quit playing football because of the lack of smoking time he was being deprived. Don't worry about what he thinks...just know that everyone in the world can't function properly idonno:

I could see that happening. Right now they have been using Faggins as the 5th DB. With Faggins playing the corner and Dunta the nickel. It will be interesting because we actually have some depth in the secondary. Something we were skeleton thin at last year.
