Strangely, I am not very frustrated at all anymore. The team sucks; I've come to grips with it. Now I can watch the games and just chuckle. /shrug

with each loss my level of frustration has declined to where i really don't care anymore. I have come to face reality and this team is poorly coached, lost confidence, and will not make any progress this year. They have accepted losing and after four years of losing, the only way to change is too get some fresh faces, new coaches, etc. That will not happen during the season and really cannot happen during the season. So i have come to understand that we are the worst football team in the nfl, we probably will not improve this season, and any win we get will be a pleasant surprise. Any game we lose will be expected. The experience at texan games this year has not been a very pleasant experience and if i did not have any psl's i would most likely not renew for next season and just purchase tickets to a few games off ebay.

Strangely, I feel the same way. I guess when you have lowered expectations (or at this point, NO expectations this year), you don't have far to fall.

I think it was around the time that Herv blew his top and started the Fire Capers Club that I started to realize certain realities. (actually, the seeds were planted deep in my psyche way back in off-season when they let Sharper and Glenn go. I was just in denial - and that's not just a river in Egypt! ).

Going into this season, I felt my expectations for the team were reasonable - an 8-8 season would leave me happy. Anything more than that would be icing on the cake, but a .500 team - after showing steady improvement the first three seasons - seemed like a realistic goal.

I wasn't even phased by a poor pre-season. Afterall, I reasoned, these are meaningless games meant to evaluate talent and get the ol' football engine running. Heck, SuperBowl Champions have had bad pre-seasons.

But now, for whatever reason(s), I've just come to accept that this season is highly unlikely to rebound and suddenly become a success.

As it says in "The Road Less Traveled" - Life Is Hard. When you accept that reality, you can find happiness in spite of it.

And so it goes - our team is bad. But in spite of it, I'm watching every second of every game and I'm tailgating every home game, and I'm putting on my hard hat / jersey and screaming my head off, too. I enjoy being fan, and I'm glad football is back.

I'm just not getting my hopes up until next season now.

One could say that my worst fears have turned out to be true. I've yet to give up hope but I realize that this will probably turn out very bad. I am content though, to look for bright spots for the remainder of the season, how small and insignificant they might be.

It's hard to explain. I definitely care, and more than one Texans customer service rep has read e-mails to that effect.

The best way I know to explain it is to compare this season to the first few. Prior to season one, everyone knew the Texans would suck, but for the first time, you had hope, even if it was a few years away. Season Two showed improvement in a couple areas, including pass protection and rushing game. So you really had hope that the 2004 team should approach .500. After the first two losses in 2004, people were annoyed and frustrated, but you had hope because the team showed signs of being a better team and they just had to put it together. Then they did, for a while, so you had hope that in 2005, they should improve another game or two, and if they could somehow pull off a victory against the Colts, they might have even had an outside shot at a Wild Card spot. Those are pretty high hopes.

I have no hope now.

I'm not frustrated as much as I'm disappointed as we ALL should be. If I recall correctly before the Texans ever hit the field for the first time I heard Bob McNair tell the city of Houston that he "Promised to give this city a team they could be proud of, a Quality Product"............WELL.....WE'RE WAITING....Come on Mr. McNair take charge of this FIASCO make some changes GIVE THIS TEAM AND IT'S FANS A WAKE UP CALL

I'm a glass half full person & kind of expected the defensive changes to do exactly what the FO said they would do ... make us faster. Never in my wildest dreams did I envision the O cratering like they have. Just my miserable

I haven't given up hope that McNair will clean house this up coming off-season and hire a GM that will help the Texans get back to where they were. By the looks of it, Billick might be available.

I'm still baffled more anything, even more than being dissapointed. Of course
I've already written the season off, but I'm really not frustrated for the
long-term, and I think there is hope for a reasonably good season next year.
Teams turn around so quick, its not like it used to be in the NFL where a hand full of teams dominated year in and year out. For example, year before last, the Bolts had the top pick in the Draft and last year they were in the playoffs. Need I say more ?

I never jumped on the "high expectations" bandwagon because there were too many questions in my mind regarding the offensive line and the pass protection.

But I was extremely disappointed in the defense. That's where the offseason moves were concentrated on, and I admit I had expectations for getting more pressure on the QB.

Now, I just wish the Astros make it to World Series, and they change it to a best of 21 instead of best of 7, so I can have something interesting to watch.

Colts fan here, so I'm obviously not going to vote.

I will tell you that I've been a Colts fan since they came to Indy. Those were some miserable years. Even the first year of Manning was 3 - 13 (but you could tell he was going to be great and that made it better).

Times like these will make you appreciate the good times, and you will have them. Hang in there, and don't lose hope. The Texans wil eventually rise, and it will be fun! And you'll get to say things like "I was a fan BEFORE it was fashionable!" and "I was a fan BEFORE the bandwagon showed up!"

I'm not here to troll your board. Here's to an injury-free game on Sunday. For now, I'm concerned about the Rams game tonight!

I'm with you on this one. Although I'm not 100 % frustrated anymore I'm pretty high up there. The team isn't playing like a professional team at all. Someone pointed it out much earlier, but it seems as if this team has given up. I don't think anyone would've predicted that after watching this team the past few years. We may not have been good, but we at least didn't play like a team that was beaten before we stepped on the field. At this point I don't know if we'll ever see that fighting spirit back in this team this season. That is a very frustrating thing.

I said it at the beginning of the season. Casserly, Capers, Carr & C. Palmer have to go!! (the latter is gone - thank GOD). This team despartely needs leadership.... and leadership starts at the top!!! Don't be surprised if fans are seen wearing paperbags on their heads on Sunday.

I expected the team to progress - not the quagmire we have on hand now.
Capers aka "Coah w/ deer in the headlights look" has truly lost this team. If he survives and is here next year I will be wearing the brown bag and the official fan title will be TEXAINT(tex-ain't).
This team has a lot of problems but I think we all would be okay if they consistentantly showed up to play. However, every week the woes mount and change. Here's a breakdown of our embarassment as fans:

Week 1​

1. pathetic offense
2. poor game plan
3. no sense of urgency

Week 2​

• certain defensive players getting owned
• lack of adjustments by coaching staff

Week 3​

• bye week and we found a way to lose... to ourselves! lol

Week 4​

• best game played but unfortunately...A LOSS

And so on and so forth... penalties, still bad play calling on both sides of the ball, players in the wrong positions (ie 2 recievers in the same area, or a linebacker out of position), and most of all POOR TACKLING.
In short (oh now I decide to summarize!), Capers and his coaching staff have done a poor job of preparing the team, game planning, and making adjustments during a game. So regardless of the players, we won't know how good they could be until they have a coaching staff who gives them the best opportunity

I definitely fall into this bracket: 20% - Schedule, injuries, FA moves, draft... not surprised.

It somehow didn't 'feel right'. I couldn't see any pluses in all the moves that were going on. I thought I had to be wrong. I was being corrected by others for the errors of my thoughts. . But, sadly it has played out.

I put down 60% but I could fall into the 40% or 20% as well.

I saw this coming when they dumped Sharper and Glenn. I was shocked that Greenwood was our "big" FA signing. I couldn't believe we traded for Buchanon. Why did we sign Riley?

Even after those deals I thought "Maybe the Texans know things that we don't." Buchanon could be turned around by Capers and Hoke right? Maybe Riley just needed some structure. Sharper and Glenn might have cap casulties right? They had lost a step...right? Wrong, wrong and more wrong.

Even after all that I expected them to go 8-8. Not exactly expecting the playoffs but still. 0-5 (soon to be 0-6) is not what I expected.

ditto that and add embarrassed. I know it may not be the smartest move, but it isn't as if we have made any smart moves lately so why not; firing Capers would go a long way in making me feel better.
