How did you react

gtexan02

Working?
3rd and 2 with plenty of time and Hoyer throws up a second Hail Mary to only Colts defenders.

How did you react?
I laughed. How sad is that. Losses don't really bother me anymore. I've grown used to ineptitude at all levels of this organization

I'm pretty much numb to the suckage at this point. I didn't think the Texans would be good this year. I didn't think they'd suck this much either. Since sucking seems to be a thing for them - I guess it's a normal year?

I told my son when Hoyer started scrambling, "the dumbass is going to throw a pick". And it was a beautiful rainbow soft pass, too. What a work of art, like a sculpture made of dog poo.

didn't see It had to leave early cus my dad didn't want to get stuck in traffic but hey we lost same ol same ol stuff the Life of a Houston Texan fan

all I can say is I miss Kubessss :P

Is it sad to say that I really didn't care? I mean damn, this team has gotten me to the point to where it really doesn't bother me anymore. I guess I'm just numb to it. I still, and always will support this team, but as of right now I really don't give a fk.

I switched to the Astros.

I literally LOL'd.

I mean....how dumb can you be?

I'm laughing right now writing this.

I seriously can't fathom what on earth you'd do that for. I can give a little more room for error if its fourth down....it'd still be one of the worst throws I've ever seen from a pro qb....but on 3rd and 2????

I mean....did his brain literally shut down? Like for real....does he have a condition? Does he have anxiety maybe?

I'm sorry but if I'm OB Hoyer never plays a down for me again. I don't give a damn if I have to suit up Godseys ass.

I really don't think the ineptitude of that throw has gotten enough attention.

Really Hoyer? You have the audacity?

Never trust a man who panics like that.

I'm all laughed out. I simply didn't care as the ball floated, because I knew that the drive would end in an interception. The only question was how it was going to happen. Lofting something that embarrassing takes considerable skill though.

Any good will I had coming into this season is gone. That game just means I'm not really going to get excited about this team anymore.

It's really sad that I've neglected the Rockets and Astros because I've been watching the dumpster fire that the Texans are. No more. I'll pay attention to the Texans if they ever become relevant again.

Dude, it had nice touch on it.

I turned to the folks who had become Hoyer fans and (overly loudly) said, "and that's why Hoyer is not a starting QB."

I don't think OB can whisper anything at this point.

Just think, if Mallet was in there it wouldn't have been a pick. No way a DB
could catch the sabot round that Mallet throws.

It was just Hoyers cherub-like touch that lofted it perfectly into his hands.

As soon as he dropped back to pass, I told my buddy, "is this a bad time to point out that Hoyer hasn't thrown and interception this game?"

He definitely felt the pressure from that guy coming at him full speed from 15 yards away.

I can't blame the loss on Hoyer. If we got his performance tonight x 16, we would have a good QB. I am astounded by the defense. What happened? They look lost. Defensively, this reminds me of late 2012 and 2013, when it became clear that opposing offenses knew exactly how to attack Wade's defense. I thought this defense was different... It may be worse!

This needs to be said: it as much cuter when Kubiak looked away before an important field goal effort. That move doesn't work for BOb... Neither does the, " I have to coach better" line after each loss. I am beginning to regret my unfaithfulness tonKubiak after 2013. Oh well... Headed for another interesting off-season.

Oh well. We suck, the Colts suck. If we are going to suck then suck. Momma always said don't do things half way.

At least the Colts look like a bad team too so hopefully we can fix our problems and be a better team next year.

Until that time, Astros and Rockets are good.

I watched the Cougars and I'm glad I did. I just watched the Texans on DVR and thank God for fast forward. What a debacle. I'm really reaching the point of apathy. Maybe that's what needs to happen for ownership to get a clue.

This thread says a lot about the team and the culture it has created. We are perpetual losers with sparks of mediocrity thrown in. The best we've ever been is "promising"

And as fans we don't even care anymore. I don't think it's mcnairs fault or smiths fault or obrien. It's too big a job to point to one person - this is a decade long result.

It's so hard being a Texan fan in Boston. Every week I sit in a bar or some other venue wearing my jersey and feeling bored/frustrated/depressed amidst a sea of elated Pats fans whose team looks to embarass people

When the pats play the colts I hope they put up 60+ on them.

It may be time to quit focusing so much on the Texans. Watching them just isn't fun and it's a lot to effort for me.

When they're bad, I laugh and am entertained by their ineptitude. Remember the batted down punt that was intercepted and ran in for a TD? LOL That's where we're at. So, I smoke pot and laugh at them because you can't take them seriously this year. When they show some spark and deserve to be taken seriously then I will. Until then, they are good for some laughs. Unless I'm into a good game of Civ or something, in which case they are ignored and I just learn about the loss in here.

The only interesting part about this season is who between you and mussop will get to have Ryan Mallett's jock strap and the end of the season.

I didn't go to the game or even watch much of it on TV. My viewing time was split between the Astros and the Cougars.

I saw Hoyer was in and we were down by 13 when I got home from dropping my daughter off. I laughed and started playing Destiny and just popped in to the game in between loading screens between missions and PvP matches (sometimes I'll just stream the audio of the game so I can do something else, why waste my time?). Saw what I needed to see including the final fail INT. I lol'ed some more. I'm numb to this team, don't care right now. My attention and devotion is to the Astros, Coogs and Rockets for now.

lol

I saw Hoyer go in while waiting for a Raid to start. Then seeing how OB didn't take him back out for Mallett to enter. Told me everything about how the season is going to end right there.

I did watch the Astros win, so that's a plus.

The Texans are just not entertaining for me anymore. It's not about winning or losing; just watching them feels like a chore. I watched most every game of 2-14... but Bill O'Brien's "leadership" just gets a resounding meh from me. There's nothing inspiring or interesting about this iteration of the Texans. We're a boring team that makes even close contests seem boring.

Gave a "pffft! What a joke" and switched right back to the Stros game. Thank goodness for the Astros. Otherwise, I might've lost a couple minutes of sleep over the suck running through the Texans organization

Had some remarkable touch on it didn't it?

I really don't pay much attention to other teams really shitty QB's so Hoyer has been something of a revelation to me. When he began scrambling I got a bad feeling too. I kept thinking "Run for it! It's 2 ******* yards!" and then I remembered that I wasn't looking at Fitz or Case Keenum. I was still surprised he didn't try to take off and get it. When he planted his feet and sent that pass up I thought he must see something I don't (since I can't see where all the WR's are through the broadcast) but something deep down inside me said "He's about to screw up" and he sure as hell did.

I just don't have any idea what he was looking at. It almost looked like he was "fulfilling his part of the deal" or something and now his bookie was going to let him out of some of his gambling debts or something like that. I know that's just made up bullshit on my part but it really was the kind of pass that makes you wonder if he was paid to throw the game or something. It looked like a bad attempt to throw the game. A pass so ill advised and perfectly executed that it makes you question whether it did in fact reach its intended target.

That's a special kind of bad.

The problem with these guys is that Mallett lacks the temperament and resilience to be a starting QB (along with the necessary accuracy much of the time) and Hoyer has bad instincts and makes stupid errors. Both can impersonate an NFL starter for short periods of time but neither one is worth keeping. If either of these two guys are on the team next year I can tell you one thing. I won't be.

I listened to the Westwood One broadcast on my way to work. Sat in the parking lot in the dark of night, silent, as the radio call wheezed its way out of the AM static.

"And just when you think this team is starting to click, they show that they are who we thought they were."

I just nodded.

Do you think the team is losing its fa base (small as it was)?

I have a ton of Texan gear but haven't purchased anything in at least a year.
Truth be told o haven't even gotten it out of storage this year (except the one JJ Watt jersey).

I used to look down on bandwagon fans. I now envy them. They're the smart ones. Don't give a crap until the team demonstrates success and then join the revelry.

I'm sure it would be "great" to be able to say "I stuck through them even throughout the crappy years" but the joy Id gain from that doesn't offset the huge time/money drain this team in its current form amounts to

The casual fans have now left the building and most of the hardcore fans are packing their things.

I'm just wondering if OB has lost the team at this point as their record is only one worse than I predicted, but the players are making a lot of penalties and have poor fundamentals like tackling, routes, etc. Since they appeared to be buying in last year I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm glad you said it that loud. My friend may have had a little bit of an excuse since he was drunk and surly, but the fans in front of us should have known better. They were wearing their Texans jerseys, so I assume they watched game 1.

Hoyer is fool's gold. He plays sharp until the pressure is on and he has a panic attack. The only reason outsiders and media beat up on Mallett is because the coach has treated him like a stepchild. It's counter intuitive to them to assume that this coach has gambled his own reputation and job security on a bias. And I don't blame too many people for not knowing that, because it's fcking crazy **** that shouldn't happen in professional sports.

Hire Eliot Wolf then get the hell out of the way.

I've been reading up on Eliot Wolf ever since you started mentioning him, and I'd be stoked if they hired him. 12 seasons with a first class organization that knows how to win on a consistent basis is exactly what this FO needs.

Unfortunately, two obstacles: Cal's BFF, and, Bob McNair is not ready to go through his Packers phase after trying to emulate the Broncos and now the Patriots.

How is that? If it was not for Hoyer it would have never been a close game to start with.

I'm not so sure about that. The hail mary at the end of the first half was pure dumb luck. I give the WR all the credit for that one, and a Colts secondary that experienced a momentary lapse of reason. A chuck throw and collective brain fart are not something that I can really attribute to greatness in Hoyer.

I have a general rule to never post right after games, which I broke last night. But, after getting it off my chest, I powered up the PS4 and went Mad Max on a bunch of fools in our dystopian future. That's all we can do as fans at this point, trade abysmal entertainment product for something more satisfying.

lol

3 out of 5 games this year O'Brien has played both QBs. In all my years of being a pro football fan, I have never, ever seen anyone have success at platooning QBs. The late, great Tom Landry tried it and failed. So, IMO, if a football genius like Landry cannot pull it off, then perhaps a lesson should be taken from football history by mere mortals like Bill O'Brien. I have no doubt that his approach is splitting this team. It is the nature of the beast, and no amount of being the smartest man in the room will change the fundamental nature of men and football teams.

What I've noticed, I think but perhaps forgot what I noticed, is when the QBs are switched the chosen one does poorly, and the new one comes in and gets the ball moving, then the next week he gets the start and the cycle starts over again. I had a feeling that Andre would have a good game and rushed home to put him on my fantasy team which worked out because he was cheap and I still have some good WRs for the weekend.

If it's any consolation, I'm heading to Dallas to watch my Cowboys practice squad meet a well rested Patriots team.
