Doh! It always feels strange to discover you're two weeks behind the times! I don't normally read the tailgate section, and didn't notice that it had been discussed in depth already. So thanks for the information, and for not giving me too hard a time...

Thanks! Ric started HPF before the Texans even had a name so we had time to kill (hence the site name) before the new team was named, built etc. so we documented the past of professional football in Houston (WFL and USFL as well as the Oilers). I don't know what the final outcome will be of the site's redesign but if Texans Talk wants to host my ProLog series, I can provide the texts for them.

Bob does a kickass Texans only mock draft article every year. Maybe that could be hosted on the blog section of the home page? He actually predicted the Chance Pearce 7th round selection in 2003 (Give Pearce a Chance).

I can set up a log-in for you (and any other blogger from hpf) or you can just fwd your stuff to me....tell me how you want your blog titled and you are good to go. Heck, give me some hpf artwork and we can make sure any blog you submit reeks of your imagery/history.

Well, I'm not sure what's up with the blog with Ric. Maybe it's happening, we'll see.

Regardless, I'm kicking off a new fansite venture. I'm going to try and start a new vBulletin message board from scratch and keep it in the same spirit of the old HPF boards. And I'll run a front to the site, but keep it pretty simple, at least initially.

Ah, who the heck knows what will come of it! We'll see...

For now, it's ...In the Bullseye! And yeah, the salary cap page is on it.
 
Hi Keith: I am glad your putting the forum back together. I truly miss it. I also miss Roy's take on the draft. Has he moved himself anywhere ? If so would it be alright to say where?

Ric and I talked to Roy about contributing to the blog, and I would love it if he wanted to become a contibutor IntheBullseye.com.

I do know that he is now posting at a draft website called WalterFootball.com under the name RoyP.

Thanks for connection to your salary cap page. What would happen to the dead $ figure on Steve McKinney if he does come back to Texans? I assume that his re-negotiated deal would go against cap but the $1.5 million would be removed from dead $? Would you care to guess what will happen to Ahman Green? I see him as a June 1st cut. I realize he could have been one of two already designated such but why risk it until you have to due to possible injuries?
 
If McKinney comes back, it will be under a new contract, not a renegotiated one. There's no playing Dr. Frankenstein when it comes to dead money, either. His cap figure would be both the dead money on the cap in addition to any new contract he signs.

As for Green, it's a guessing game that will become much clearer after Saturday I think. And you're right, unless the Texans just want to be nice to Green, there's no rush to cut him until they are more comfortable with their other options.

Dang, I heard that Roy reupped in the Corp and was headed to Iraq ?
Just think a leatherneck making contributions to a football website while
in a combat zone.
But I'm glad that you're going back on line and will look forward to future
contributions from you and whoever else joins you.

I too, was a long time blogger to HPF.com, and have wandered in the wilderness, so to speak, on the officail board for awhile. Glad to see ya'll are trying to keep some semblance of the old board going.
