Houston Texans @ Pittsburgh Steelers. 10/20. 7:30. **Official MNF Gameday Thread**

Probably true. We'll keep Jax from being winless this year. I had very low expectations for this team at the beginning of the year. right now we are looking more like 6-10 than 8-8. Frankly, I'd rather be 6-10 and we get a better 1st rounder because God knows our 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounders haven't done sh*t this year.

Um...Jacksonville isn't winless now.

We just need better quarterback play. I've seen elite quarterbacks playing for different offensive coordinators. They make those coordinators, who I've never even heard before, look good. O'Brien and Godsey are good enough believe me. What if the Texans had signed Peyton Manning when he was a free agent? Kubiak would probably still be our head coach. What if we had drafted Aaron Rodgers in the 2005 draft? Heck, Dom Capers would still be our head coach. We could have have used any of our past offensive coordinators and they'd have done good with an elite QB. Or any good QB.

I agree. I think the biggest issue for this team is the QB. Period.

He can't beat the blitz. When the other team blitz he holds on to the ball for far too long. Watch as Luck shreds the Steelers this weekend with quick passes to beat the blitz. Fitz just holds onto it or tries to run it, not knowing what to do.

I don't like to blame the QB because it is so cliche but Fitz is pretty bad. Yeah Foster fumbled that ball and that sucks, but we know Foster is a gamer...too bad Fitz goes out and throws a INT the next drive.

I agree with you to some extent that better QB play keeps our defense off the field etc. We could probably be 6-1 right now with better QB play. I'm just not sure that we have any options at this point. Mallett and Savage aren't good enough to beat out Fitzpatrick? That probably says as much about Mallett and Savage as anything

We simply don't know this. O'Brien could just be stubborn and want to stick with his man who knows. Listening to Chuckie talking about what O'Brien said regarding when we might see Mallet he said "still working on touch and short throws" so perhaps he is not ready, but FFS let's see him in a game and find out.

Honestly marching Mallett out there isn't going to help us win out the season, but why have skinny Zach Galifianakis out on the field. Lets be honest we were never making the playoffs this year so why go down this road. Adapt the offense to Mallett or Savage, at least they have the physical skills.

-OR- O'Brien comes from the same school of Dumbsh!t Kubiak came from (Dean of Admissions would be McNair).

For the record, I think we should bring Mallett out there sooner rather than later. Just don't know that the result is going to be much better. I think part of the problem is the complete breakdown that we seem to have as a team in short stretches. Like the first quarter last week and the last 3 min of the first half today.

I really do hope that Mallett can shake things up. My expectations are somewhat tempered though.

A decent QB makes the OL better. Good QB's throw receiver open. Fitz is in over his head, he doesn't have the physical skills nor the football instincts to be anything more than a back up.

I understand the FA market was bad so fine sign the guy I don't care. However if you are suppossed to be a smart head coach and offensively minded and you can't get Mallett spun up or adapt the system to him then we are screwed short of signing Manning, Luck, or Rodgers.

Same problem at Arky -- guy has one speed: 90 mph fastball,
whether it is on a 50 yard bomb or a 5 yard screen.

Still don't know why we wasted a pick on this guy.. I'll have to see him
do something before I believe it was a pick well spent

At this point why not try Mallet. Could we really be much worse considering that we have now lost 4 of our last 5 games??

I hear what you are saying, but I have seen him throw touch passes in the preseason so I know he is capable of it.

Fans here conviently didnt hear that though...i've seen this movie before....give it about 4 games...they'll be ready to throw savage out there to "see what he can do" falsely clinging to miracle playoff hopes..

Watching this game (and others as well) makes me cringe. When I can successfully guess what type of play will occur (run or pass) we have a problem. Teams know we can't throw for **** so they can effectively try and shut our run game down. Fortunately for us Foster works his ass off and can truck people but if we were to loose him to injury...probably loose every game from here on out.

As others have mentioned why the **** can't we put in Savage or Mallett? I don't give a **** if they are ready or not...tired of ****ing bearded Harvard man who looks and plays like the dumbest mother****ing quarterback in this league.

I miss TJ Yates.
