Houston Texans 2025 Draft Class

Hoping we will need neither OT or the RB.

Oh, I would like to have the kid from Penn State. 5' 11" 220lbs runs a 4.3 40....the kid is like Barkley and Robinson only maybe more explosive and runs through tackles with ease or just cuts and leaves them hugging air.

I like his skills breaking tackles and track speed. I want him to pick up another 5 lb of solid muscle this season at Notre Dame and then another five his first year in the NFL. Probably out of our range.

I am extremely optimistic for this roster but based only upon what we know and have seen, I have our needs for 2026 as follows:
LG, RG , OT that can play both sides; back up RB and back up corner.

Too soon for a thread.
This organization has proven to have serious difficulties in solidifying a talented offensive line .... so, to me, there is no such time as "Too Soon"! It's no longer speculation .... it's a proven fact. I'm still in the process of grieving over likes of Jared Wilson and Charles Grant. I'll soon be 75 .... which means, over 6 decades ago, I started noticing, and then identifying dynasties, by their offensive linemen's names. They were always out-front and the good-uns would last 15 seasons. When I began playing organized ball in 7th grade, I didn't appreciate them as I should've - always a back or receiver, and I became too ball oriented. If we had a great line right now, we'd be in contention for the SuperBowl. We got to broaden our focus when building our team .... underneath all is the foundation .... Mike Holovak proved that to me !

Agree 100 % but am willing to allow whomever this line turns out to be 2-3 games to 'bond'. I imagine I will be throwing things at the TV and yelling but I have to give them at least that.

Perhaps they do not expect Marks to be a bell cow but perhaps a quarter horse. Great vision and understanding of what opponents are going to do; good stop and starts. There is room to operate between every down player and '3rd down specialist' only.
Based on the reports coming out of the media availability at rookie minicamp, Marks is larger than how he appeared on game tape. To piggyback on your point, I think they envision Marks as a back that can make spot starts (if needed), split carries with Mixon, and be the 3rd down back. If my theory is correct, it would justify why they traded a 2026 pick to get him this year. Especially when there were several other RBs available, including Dylan Sampson and Jarquez Hunter. I heard way more about Hunter and Sampson than I ever did about Marks. Let's hope the Texans scouting department knows what they're doing.

My thinking is they probably identified Marks as an ideal RB for Caley's system. Between Mixon and Marks (M&M nickname?), the backfield should be dynamic.

One other point and this may be horrifying to say: I think they still believe in Pearce. I think they may even want to keep Ogunbowale. I think they want him there as a ST player and emergency RB (and kicker? lol).

Again, this does not reflect my opinion on the RB room, merely, how the Texans see it based on the moves they've made (or haven't made).

I hope this post doesn't result in some of you breaking the nearest throwable item in your grasp.

You may be correct. Does that mean that Caley's system will look more like the NE system they were running when they had James White/Shane Vereen type RB? I think we may have our answer.

Yeah I got lazy and didn’t scroll up high enough. Sorry all.
No apology necessary. We have information strung all over this message board in different threads. I often don't read six different threads to see if something has been posted.

I want to say very well written post. And true. Football games are (for the most part) won at the line of scrimmage. Sure, you can get a game where 1 teams OL is awful but they throw fast enough to a stud WR that they win anyway 7-0 or something.

Back to the original idea. If you can't move a DL or block rushers...it will be a long and painful day. On the flip side, if the OL opens holes cars can go through and the QB has 7+ seconds to throw. ..they likely will win and in a blow out.

I think the Texans are 1 draft/FA period away from being in the "elite" category. Be it DT or OL player we probably (hope I am wrong) will need a slight upgrade to 1.

Isn't that click bait that Porky and Lucky don't like? 😅

No. Not exactly at least. It’s on Twitter. It’s unsourced with no link. If he linked to an unsubstantiated article whose sole purpose is generating clicks…then yes. Don’t see that unless i am missing something.

Porky, I don't care how somebody gets paid. I care about the information. Of course the source can often be eliminated from people I review.

Tonight’s S&L substantiated this, the source being the Pats draft day coverage. Teams are posting video of their teams at the draft, and the Pats were discussing these picks and ultimately turned it down.

That leaves us with who they could have been targeting. Here are the players who went between 38 and 48 when the Texans traded up for Ersery.
