Houston Comical Article

I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt that there will be a group of "fans" who will be waiting to celebrate every single mis-step that Matt Schaub and the rest of the Texans make from this week forward. It's probably going to take at least two seasons for most of them to lose interest and move on (full time) to whatever team ends up signing their favorite player. They are "fans" but they're "Texans fans" in name only. Now that the fight is over and everything has come down the way it has they're already starting to turn on the team. We know who they all are. We know what their IP addresses are and we know what part of the country they're in. We know which ones use multiple identities to try and make it look like there are more of them who feel the way they do.

Despite all of that there's nothing to be done about it but wait until they lose interest and go away. Fortunately now the clock is running.

Herv, I enjoy your posts 99.9% of the time, and several time you've argued a point much better than I ever could. I was one of the biggest critics of the Schaub trade, and am STILL not convinced he will "Baby Jesus" for the Texans. All that said, I have ALWAYS stopped short of rooting against him, once the trade was finalized, or EVER against the Texans. I take umbrage at the suggestoion that anyone who doesn't like the Schaub deal will wait in ambush for any miscue he has. I don't think I've EVER seen a Texan fan poster on here root against us(not counting since Carr was cut). They may have been against certain players or moves the team mde, but not against the organization as a whole. I think we might have paid too much for Schaub. Does that mean I pull against the Texans? NO. Does that mean I think we'll wander for forty years in the Wilderness? NO. Does that mean I want less
than stellar success for Schaub? NO. It means I want a draft pick back. It means I love Texans football and don't drink the Kool Aid every time the FO makes press release. There are mighty few "FANS" who fit your criteria. Most of us against the Schaub deal are against the price we paid and what we got for Carr. Right or wrong, we STILL root for the Texans.

Well ... usually you see a lot and if you want to venture out to whatever the vice of your choice ... it's there .

It's about exposure to the world young grasshopper .

And in your travels, make sure Thailand and Malaysia are on your block. WOW!!!!

Doc, you're a Texan. You root for the Texans. You are not in the group that Herv is talking about. There are several "fans" that are still here, that we'd have thought would disappear as soon as David was released. You're not in that group.

The folks from that group, will most likely stay through this next season, & they will jump on Matt Schaub for every INT, every game under 250 passing yards, every sack, etc... etc... They are hoping Matt fails, so their Golden boy can look golden again.

I'm probably the biggest Ricky Williams fan you'll ever see, but I've never secretly hoped Duece McAllister would be busted for a heroine addiction.

that's what these Carr fans are like.

Not all Carr fans, but the ones we are talking about.

& I know what you're saying about not seeing that kind of attention in the past, but I'm with Herv on this one. It's coming.

1. What I wrote has nothing to do with being critical of the Schaub trade. There are many people who have questions or misgivings about the Schaub trade. I have no doubt that most of them want it to work "as planned" and will close ranks behind the team once things begin to get busy on the practice field. In short "you aren't the droids I'm looking for".

2. If you have never seen a Texans fan in here rooting against the Texans then I'm going to suggest that you open your eyes a bit wider. It's happened fairly often and it's been discussed during the final weeks of the last three or four seasons. Fans of bad teams find themselves at the end of meaningless seasons thinking more of draft position than the W/L record. We've all felt that awkward emotion at one time or another. That's nothing though compared to what these people are going to do once they feel like they've seen evidence that their hero was unjustly sent packing.

3. It's not hard to find the fans who fit my criteria. You are correct that there are not a lot of them but they make a lot of noise and stir up far more trouble than they are worth.

But again let me point out that the fans you're talking about and the ones I'm talking about aren't the same group of people (for the most part). Some of the ones I'm talking about will hide in your group and pretend they're really interested in the Texans but you'll see them show their true colors the moment things don't go as planned. You'll know them the moment they start posting after an ugly loss or a bad game from Schaub.

There you go again, argueing points better than I could. I HATE it when you quote me and do that!!!

Lol... I don't think you have seen anything yet. :yahoo:

JMO, but I think David is in for a rude awakening when/if another team signs him. If you think the Texans experience was bad for David...well,you better get ready. Sooner than later, Carr's 'starting'days are over...maybe his career. Fortunately,he's already made 'big bucks' so he can stay home with the family.:yahoo:

My guess is that Sage will get his chance sometime this season anyway.

well thats just pathetic... and hypocritical- you're 1 of the guys that was giving out about people bashing DC- but its ok for you to knock our new qb who hasnt taken a single snap for us...

say what you want about the DC haters giving him excess abuse but at least they gave him a chance at the beginning to see what he could or couldnt do..they didnt want him to fail from the start

i hate some of the posters on here...so many hidden agenda's

Curious as to the multiple user/ip's :)

Is it just me (it has been known to be) or have people been attacking each other now more than before the Schaub deal was done? I am glad I don't have any enemies that I know of on these boards. I guess I will get one soon.

Why would anyone hope Matt fails? If Matt fails, so does the team. :lightbulb:

David will shine on his own..or not. Matt has nothing to do with that.

Get real. He's not bashing anyone.

True. But the point is that some of the fans here, are not Texans fans, but David Carr fans. They'll root for the Texans as long as David is the starting QB. As soon as the Texans do something like chose another QB in lieu of David, they'll turn on the Texans.

They don't care about the Texans, never did. All they care about, is David Carr.

Just like many fans revel in the fact that Sharper & Coleman are no longer employed by NFL teams, they point to them as proof of the Texans ability to spot bad players who were not contributing to the Texans success.

People point to Gaffney's failure to earn a spot with the Eagles, or Billy Miller's inability to stay with a team for more than 2 years as proof that they couldn't have helped this team even if we had someone other than David reading progressions, and dissecting defenses.

They're waiting for Schaub to fall on his face. They want the Texans to fail if David is not here, so they can say, "see David was not the only problem"

I will say this, I was a Carr fan but I guarantee you that I have no plans (got to put a loophole in :tease:) to come on the Bull Pen and say "I told you so" if Schaub has a bad game and Carr (whereever he goes) happen to start and has a good game.

I wish Carr the best and will check every now and then on how he is doing, but he (in my boat) is about the same as others that came and left the Texans (Glenn,Coleman,Sharper,Morency) in that I was happy for them if they did good but nothing I needed psychotherapist about being they aren't with the Texans.

100 percent Texan right here.

If Schaub falls on his face, I will not talk about How David could have done better, I will talk about Sage needs to step it up in practice and earn more playing time and beat out Schaub

I know David was not the only problem and I don't want Matt to fall on his face either.

I expect a learning curve too, hopefully not a sharp one.

I want David to get a chance somewhere else to shine and Matt can show what he can give the Texans.

IS Herv trying to say something about some fans around here. :poker:

Yes,I'm a David Carr fan and will continue to be but hate the Texans I don't think so. I don't wish them harm but they failed David as much as he failed them.I don't care which QB is running the team they have a lot of holes to fill that was neglected for five years.Schaub isn't going to be successful until those things are fixed like the o-line for example. The Texans still need a quality runningback and a number 2 reciever. It is still going to take time and patience to succeed. So,if Schaub fails please don't rip his head off like you all have done to David.Be patient with understanding that everything takes time to be a winner. This franchise is now only six years old and there will be a lot of growing pains along the way. So,support them be an encourager and not a discourager. Now that I have said enough,it is time to say goodbye and may God's blessings come to all of you.

My guess is there will be about a dozen posters with IP addresses from the Fresno area hitting the message board about 8 seconds after Matt Schaub throws his first incompletion.

I think the obsession will run another year or more depending on how things turn out for the two QB's involved, and I'm not talking about Sage. Short of injury Sage probably won't see the field unless it's a blowout (in either direction).

Like the "dozen posters" count from Austin/Madison HS wasn't camping out here all season. :)

I really haven't seen anyone here who would "celebrate" any mis-teps by this organization. Lord knows there have been plenty and I haven't seen any celebrating as of yet.

That's pretty funny, Between the VY traitors, Carr haters, Carr lovers, and HEAVY troll content....I'd say half this board seems to have a dislike, if not hate for my Texans. Every post, no matter what it's about will have several "the FO has no idea what theyre doing, this team is going nowhere, we are a laughingstock" responses.

And now that group will focus in letting us know OVER AND OVER AGAIN, that Matt Schaub is unproven, Ahman Green is old, and Mario Williams is a bust. Theyll go away when we win, and they will flood the board with childish BS when we lose. So I am just REALLY looking forward to my Texans shuttin some mouths come Sept.

:wild:

Palmer said Carr took film home to study and he would quizz him to see if he did study, and David answered right every time. Go look for the link yourself.

Yeah I will take what Palmer says with a truck load of salt because he has worked with some all-time great QBs. He previously worked with Drew
Bledsoe in New England, Tim Couch in Cleveland and David Carr in
Houston.

Heck I would not be surprised if he did not also work with Akili Smith.

READ and comprehend this time. I wasn't discussing Palmer's skills.

Matt is unproven. However, I expect him to do well. Mario is far from a bust. Ahman Green, I'll wait and see.

Here's to a better season! texanpride
