Ok, first of all, the Texans are going to be waiting a few weeks to finalize that Kubiak deal. Secondly, I do not understand the logic in keeping David Carr around in the event that Young is drafted by the Texans with the reasoning that it would improve trade offers for him. Make no mistake about it, if you take a quarterback with the first pick in the draft, you are rebuilding your franchise. When Kubiak comes in, the offensive line will have to learn a new blocking schema and Carr will have to learn new progression reads. I do not see the advantage in sitting a talent such as Young on the bench while he observes a lame duck quarterback go about the business of garnering better stats for trade purposes, stats which are not at all guaranteed. The one trump card for bringing Young to the Texans is that he is a proven leader, and the lack of leadership for the Texans is well documented. If you bring in the QB, make him the unquestioned leader of the team, right now. The bottom line is that this situation is not analogous to the McNair-O'Donnell one, because Neil was a longtime NFL veteran and was not in the process of learning a new offense when McNair came in, as will be the case with Carr and Young if that so happens. The Texans will not end up getting fair value for Carr whether they trade him this year or next, so there is no point in postponing the development of another franchise player. The best line of action, if Young is drafted, is to play him (regardless of where Carr is) and as he goes, so goes the team. If the team bottoms out next year, as should be expected with a rookie QB, they will be in better position to further build the team, (Adrian Peterson anybody?) then they would if Carr goes out and gets 5-7 wins due to his experience.

Agreed: There is no reason to keep Carr if they draft VY. You would have to assume that Carr is a Vet who can help along a rookie QB learn the ropes. That is hardly the case here. Heck Carr needs a Vet to help him along. Add to that a new coach and scheme and Carr will be as green as Young. If they bring Young, have no doubt that Carr will be gone.

Disagree: You can't MAKE anyone a leader. You can't just bring VY in and because he proved to be a leader amoung the mere mortals of the college ranks you expect him to do the same here. He will come in amoungst a team that views him as a good player but the one that replaced their franchise QB and is constantly surrounded by the hype of being the saviour of the ballclub. The coaches can't just name him a captain. You think my boss my unquestioned leader. Hell know cause he has not earned it.

Agreed, did anyone else see him on ESPN2 a few days ago? I was shocked to see his ugly mug on there and was trying to figure out how he conned his way onto the national TV spotlight.

I dis-agree but I did think it was #@$*ty of him to say "when the Broncos lose, then Kubiak will be hired as Caper's replacement". If I were Kubiak after reading this I'd punch his fat *** in the mouth then say "What was that John, I couldn't hear you, it sounds like you just got punched in the mouth"
 
If Kubiak comes in as HC, the last thing I'd be worried about is Carr starting from scratch. Seems Kubiak is on the same page. Now, if VY or Lienart were to be drafted, then yes! we are starting over. Just a few points:

1. Carr's 3 years exp. as a starting NFL QB is exactly that, 3 years in the book.
2. Carr is very capable of making all the required NFL QB's throws.
3. Carr has enough speed to bail his butt out of the pocket and scramble for a first down, when required. That becomes a better weapon when your not required to do it on just about every passing down. Since when did a QB need 4.2 speed? With the millions your paying this guy the last thing the coaches need is the QB attempting to become the teams leading rusher as well. That's pretty whack!!!
4. Carr is rugged. Based on the amount of punishment he takes each week, it's amazing how he continues to show up the next week. Each time he pulls himself off the ground he earns the respect of his team.
5. He's a proven leader. When it's oblivious that he could point a finger, he seems to keep it to himself.
6. Carr has seen and understands the game at NFL speed.
7. Carr has seen and understands defensive reads and looks.
8. What Carr doesn't understand ( me too ) is why, over the past 3 years the OL was never addressed??? The description of insanity and in our case LOSING is doing the same thing everyday or every year and expecting different results.

That's my input.

This post is whack
And Carr has 4 (not 3) of years of stinking up the joint. Which season were you trying to forget. The 2nd one where he missed most of the season, or was it the last one where nothing really changed on the offense but we go from 7 wins to a sickening 2 and sax were up from last year too. Carr is washed up here, maybe not somewhere else, but definately here.
 
So, what your saying is, if Tom Brady was our QB this year or any previous year he magically turns this franchise into a team who's made the playoffs this season or the past 2 seasons??? No way!!! Just like Carr, Tom also becomes a professional TURF INSPECTOR!!!
