Highly Disappointed

I went to the Texans at Jets game and Im so disappointed in our team. They played real well in the first half but second half they might as well not have been on the field. Yes there were bad calls and refs blew it big time in this game but that no excuse for our players. Im coming there next week and I hope that we can atleast keep up with Indy this time around. Otherwise Peyton is going to eat us alive.

the NFL in players on IR, yet gave it all on the field, losing several close
games including to the Jets and the Patriots. I know many of you make a
lot of excuses for this team and why it plays so bad, so often, but do you
really think more time is going to solve the problems with everything else
status quo? Capers is no dummy and knows he has built a foundation on
improvement from one year to the next and will pull out all stops to get
that 6th win--- shoot, we'll probally see plays and schemes and formations
we haven't seen all year to reach that goal-- but, what about the intensity
and the heart and the soul....will we see that? In losing a game, will we be
able to say, "man, the team gave all they had...nothing left on the field."
Or, will we use a fast 'getting old' explanation of 'wait till next year.'

i'd say the Texans are in the teenage years.. We want to play with the big boys, but obviously just not ready. Teams aren't overlooking us now.

I hear you on "tough to swallow"...I really had my hopes up like alot of people,but I aint getting down on our boys.Being an Oiler fan from back in the day may have made my skin pretty tough....but I hate seeing our team play the way they have in some of those losses.Its 7:30 am mon. and the first thought after a loss is DAMMITT.Thanks for the back-up Pride LOL I am working on getting psls for next year....we will hook up.

They will get 7 wins; however, if they don't get at least 6, I think Capers is in a little trouble. That would mean a 5 game losing streak to end the season and the same record as last year. Think about how us, the fans, will react if they only finish with 5 wins and a 5 game losing streak to give them 11 losses. If they go against Cleveland not having won since Tennesee, I think Capers better be out there making tackles himself. It's gonna get real scary if they lose to Chicago after the beating they'll get next Sunday in Indy.

Also, if they don't win at least 6, I will be a real advocate of the fire everybody (almost) posts.

I think he's feeling some real pressure right now, because he knows if he doesn't win 1 more (which I think is not that unlikely), he's unemployed. The
manner of his losses is what getting people upset. For example, we narrowly lost to the Jets & Colts last year, and that's not the case this year. We've had minimal down time (injuries) this year compared to last year. Should we lose out (including the last home game against a disappointing Cleveland team), Dom has got a big problem. And if Clevland is the only win, he still may have a problem. People just don't like it when their team rolls over & plays dead in the 4th quarter.

The Texans played a sloppy game and were shut out in the second half! I think they went into this game a little too confident. They underestimated the offensive ability of the Jets quarterback because he was coming off an injury. The Texans are good enough to be in the thick of the playoff race. And please don't tell me its too early for this team. How long did it take jacksonville or Carolina to make it to the playoffs!!!

It's not necessarilly too early. They're just not that good. Maybe they should be, but they're not. The O-line stinks. I don't know if the scheme needs more time to gel or if it's the talent, or both. The team, in general, doesn't have the talent to be where we want them to be right now. Experience will help a lot, but a lack of it is not their only problem.

I can, if we finish 5-11 with our beat down games against Indy, Denver, New York, and most likely Indy again. That's almost as many embarrassments as wins. Also, that game with the Lions was a little bit embarassing and they're bad.

5 wins would mean this team has not only not improved, but that they have actually gone backwards from year 2 to year 3. At least last year we had more competitive losses. But, like I said, this team will probably win 2 more and we'll be talking about how great it's gonna be next year with the 17 T12 (something like that) players and Carr having one more year under his belt, etc., etc.

I agree.

People become so overly optimistic that they venture into delusional. And then when the reality pin pops their bubble, they become bitter and unrealistic in their expectations and analysis.

The fact of the matter is that we ARE still building a team, not just a bunch of talented individuals that know the same plays.

Just remember that this year, the 3rd, is the first that we had back-to-back wins - TWICE! It is also the first year that we swept a division opponent, as well as the first (and second) time that we ever beat the Titans!

The fact of the matter is that there are 13 other NLF teams that have been around a LOT longer than the Texans and that have the same or worse records than us!

You've got to realize that we do not have enough water (talent) to fill our glass (team) at this point: so is the glass half full or half empty?

I'd say it's half full and we just have to get back to the tap (draft/FA) in the offseason to finally fill that bad boy up!

I guess 5 years is a new NFL expansion team standard now. Just repeat 5 years over and over and then it becomes truth. We have a mixture of old and young players on this team. The Texans franchise is 3 years old but the players are a mixed bag of experience and ALL are NFL players. When a player comes to the Texans he doesn't suddenly lose his experience. Sure we could use more depth and a few different starters but what team couldn't. Just don't make excuses for them when they play badly. I agree with what someone else said on here. We showed improvement through our first 2 years. Our third year has been like we are on a plateau and not improving. Even if we end up with a better record at the end of this year I still don't see the 3rd year improvement. We played much tougher last year with less. I do like Babin, Earl, and Robinson. I think Peek should have started from game 1 of this year with Wong on the inside. We may see Peek now that Foreman is hurt.

I love the Texans and I think our defense is heading in the right direction. The offense is stuggling this year and never looks like a well oiled machine for an entire game. I think the dull play design and calling of Palmer is part of it.

We may have won back to back, but like many are saying, take a good look at who we beat and who is pounding us in the ground now.

Speaking for myself, we had more 'feel good' games in the first two years.
We saw what was some good talent developing, getting that chemistry working between the players, etc. We waited patiently, praised them for coming along and getting it to gel as a unit.
The process has stalled for whatever reasons and it's hard to watch. Each week the finger seems to point in another direction.

That comment just about sums it up. We have far less injuries, have more player depth and more practice time together as a team. Despite those "advantages" over last season. We manage to not only lose a bunch of games (as was to be expected), but to lose EMBARASSINGLY on a regular basis.

This team has now "given up" completely in 3 games this year! Last year's IR-riddled lineup would WHIP today's team all over the gridiron! How did this team go backwards from that point?

There's no "It's only our 3rd year" explanation that covers going backwards from year two.

That's three years to in which you had an expansion draft (and unlike the Browns the Texans drafted very well in their expansion draft). That's three years of regular drafting WITH additional picks in the first two. That's two years of being able to play in the free agent race and it's three years to dig through the discards and Canadian football league to find those (very few) overlooked gems.

3 years to build a team sounds like a very short time indeed but it's not. In todays NFL 3 years is an eternity. Teams go from being dominant to being doormats in 3 years. Other teams go from the bottom to the Super Bowl in three years. In year one the Texans were absolutely lacking talent. In year two they were again lacking talent but to a lesser extent. This year they don't have the luxury of being able to say they're just too young. Carr has to carry this team because it has no running game because it has no line. Carr gets sacked and pressured because he has no protection, again because he has no line. The line that the Texans don't have is three years in the making and continues to "learn" and "grow" as it crawls along headed for a completion date sometime this decade. you could put together a friggin Great Pyramid quicker than the Texans have put together their offensive line.

They're working on it and they're moving forward admittedly. The progress at times seems imperceptible but it's there. 3 years isn't an inadequate amount of time to build a team however. It's in my opinion just about right. They shouldn't be contending for the division right now and I'm not saying that they should. Carr shouldn't be in the Pro Bowl and the Texans shouldn't be getting ready for the playoffs. They should have seen a gradual improvement over the course of the season leading to a second half where they played their best football. A slow start should have been expected when considering all of the changes they made before the season but if they were improving at any sort of acceptable rate then they would be playing their best football right now, not their worst.

In my opinion,I really think ONE of our main problems has been the O-Line.Without domination on the front line....you have No running game...No passing game...without those two aspects of the game then you have NOTHING.I havent added up the numbers,but our defense has givin up ALOT of points this year....and the Payton Manning show is coming in this weekend?????Its time for a serious gut check by our defense!We will see what our team is made of come Sunday.

You are correct about the o-line playing well at our house....question is,if they play well at Reliant.....why do play like you know what away from Reliant? We seem to be a 30 minute team...we either play bad in the first half or good in the first half.....we havent had many full 4 quarters of Texan ball all year.The team as a whole is going to have to bring 4 FULL quarters of football......CAN THEY DO IT??????????
