High School Games?

Sideline

Veteran
Does anybody go to any High School games near Houston? Not really sure of the area as am obviously over the pond but would be intrested in going to see some High School Football as well while I am over there.

My son plays for an HISD team and it is unfortunate that HISD football is not supported as well as it should be. I am from Virginia and Friday night was all about football in my home town. Each game was packed on both sides of the stands.

We usually have a decent turnout, but play against teams that have 4 supporters in the stands. And some of these are the administrators that have to be there.

We were at his scrimmage in Clear Creek last night and had a great time. We have a group of parents that go out before the game and sit together and make noise. So if you want to come to a game, we would love to have you join our group. Just PM me for details.

Katy HS is the #10 team in the nation, so they should have a good atmosphere for HS football.

If by some means, and do it by any means you can, you can get out to South Lake...get there the week of September 15th. Plan it now. It will be the best HS football game in the nation all year long. South Lake is the #1 team, and they are hosting the #2 team in the nation from Miami Dade county. It will be televised nationally, but going to that game in person will be more than worth it. Plan it now.

Cy Fair should be entertaining on offense at least with Duffy at RB. The boy is lightning, and has already committed to Michigan. He is honestly the fastest white boy I've ever seen or tried to catch. He is a stuck up kid, but I do know him to a degree, and he is amazing at the HS level.

Jersey Village isn't a school you would normally consider, but I would pay to see one of the LB's named Trey Briggs. He will be an impact player and a national recruit.

Annoyingly it seems that all of the teams you have just mentioned are not around on the week that I am going to be in Houston. Cy Fair and Jersey Village are both on bye weeks while Katy are away at A&M Consilidated which seems to be a fair old distance from Houston.

Are their any other big teams in the Houston area that I should check out?

I went to the Westfield game tonight. It was an emotional pre game as Herman Mitchell's jersey was retired. One of his closest friends, Tolu Akindele held his jersey throughout the singing of the Anthem. He then proceded to play like a man possessed, he looked really good out there. He penetrated the backfield many a time and he was the obvious leader of the defense.

BTW, it's disturbing how the news stations are still trying to get student reactions on the death of Herman Mitchell. The Channel 2 reporter was going around the stands asking people if they knew Herm.

That is unfortunate. Try the Southlake game. I'm even trying to come down from KU for that game. I'm debating between roadtripping for that game and buying tickets for the USC - NEB game the same day, should be about the same money. If I'm even debating that choice, you know the Southlake game is worth driving a little for.

You aren't coming in more often than one weekend?

I don't know much about Katy at all, but they are highly ranked. Westfield has a good story running behind it, but isn't that talented. Cy-Fair - Cy-falls will be a nationally televised game I believe.

The Houston area is fairly thin on nationally ranked teams this year, but they have a lot of good teams as I've listed a few.

Looked at Pearland however they seem to be on the road the week that I am in Houston. I think I am going to head out to see Clements High School when I get over, someone suggested them to me and apparently they have David Carr's younger brother playing for them so that should be intresting to watch.

Thanks for all the help guys, anyone else go and watch Clements?

I will see Clements when they play against Hightower and Willowridge. The preseason rankings for th district has Clements as number 1. It will be interesting to see if that ranking holds up.

I'm going to check out the Willowridge vs. Clements game also. I'm curious to see Carr jr. do his thing. My brother coaches at Willowridge and he's always on me to go to the football games. I usually just wait til basketball season to watch him coach, so I guess I'll have to make him happy this year. I hear the band is unbelievable.

Who is your brother? Yes, the band is still unbelievable. Even though the numbers are down significantly over the last few years, they can hold their on in any competition.

I don't go to high school games that often considering I went to HS in Seattle, but I go when we have 2 road games in a row early :gun:

Go to a Cy-Falls game! ITs crazy! We beat Westfield last night.!.come meet me I will be the one with my face panited with green and gold on haha.
