Hey Texan Fans (old thread alert)

GOLIONS2006

Practice Squad
Hey i think you guys are fielding a very good team. Andre Johnson is a very good receiver and David Carr is a good QB. You got a steal in last years draft in getting Domanick Davis in the 4th round.

Thanks, you guys did great in this years draft. Roy Williams and Charles Rogers could be a great tandem. And you got Kevin Jones. Only question mark is wether Harrigton will have enough time to throw behind that awful line. Woody should help (I think you guys got him from the Pats)

The Line isnt awful. We have a pro bowler(woody) Backus is a good LT. Mcdougle is good on the other side. Raiola has yet to live up to potential we will see this year. We have a bit of a hole at G, but we have guys who would be servicable starters. Our line certianly doesnt rank with the best of em, but i dont think its awful. BTW cant wait til week 2 when we play, Carr vs. Harrington, Johnson vs. Rogers. It should be a very good game.

I was disappointed that y'all had such a good draft. I had gotten to the point that I really enjoyed calling Matt Millen a fool. I don't get to do that this time around.

That is going to be a great story line. Harrington picked 2 picks after Carr, AJ going right after Rogers. And our first round picks this year can go right at each other, Dunta Robinson vs. Roy Williams. I thought it had potential to be the Thanksgiving day game before the draft.

I think it'll be the best game of the first 4 of the Texans schedule! (I'd love to be wrong and see us stomp KC at Arrowhead, but, uh...I DO remember last year.) Lots of young talent on both sides, including DET's R. Williams who has the strong tie to Texas. These teams may not face each other a lot, so I'm looking forward to it.

the good thing about this is it has the makings of becoming a great rivalry...not a heated or hated rivalry but one against two very similar teams...i personally am looking forward to this game with a lot of anticipation...god i can't wait for football season to start

I think the Lions game has the makings of a good matchup, but you can't have a rivalry when you only play each other once every 4 years (don't even start about the cowgirls, that's different). Until they meet one Super Bowl Sunday, there's really no reason for a Texan fan to give a squat about the Lions, & vice versa.

Does anyone else besides me hate this dancing Banana? Urgh!

Lions drafted for offense 3 years now. Did not add anybody significant on Defense from FA or draft. That team is extremely onesided and thier strong positions have rooks. Disaster waiting to happen.
They signed Dre' Bly a year ago and he went to the probowl, but that is all i remember

Not anyone significant in FA or Draft on D? In the draft our 2nd round pick was LB Teddy Lehman. We also signed CB Fernando Bryant, and S Brock Marion. thats 3 significant guys right there.

You know whats funny, Roy stayed in school last year so he wouldn't have to got to Detroit, but look what happened.

No Roy stayed in school last year because Charles Rogers came out, and he thought C Rogers was better. Dre Bly isnt our only player to build on. Shaun Rogers, Boss Bailey, Fernando Bryant, Kalimba Edwards, Teddy Lehman and Brock Marion with the role players being Earl Holmes, Brian Walker, James Hall and Dan Wilkinson.

Our D-line
LE Kalimba Edwards/Robert Porcher
DT Shaun Rogers(very underrated)
DT Dan Wilkinson
RE James Hall

sure it might not look good on paper but these guys are all good enough to make this a good D-Line.

I am not sure I would go that far. Roy valued his education much more than CR did, that is for sure. I think Roy will be a better player than CR. Roy is certainly more mature. CR does not have anything on him as an athlete either.

Your right on the education thing, but Rogers also wanted to leave the Michigan State debacle. Roy Williams admitted to one of the reasons he stayed in school because of C Rogers.

Yeah, I see a high scoring game btw Lions and Texans. Boy, there are going to be some interesting games with Raiders, Packers, Vikings, and Chiefs.

High scoring, and probably about 300 false start/offsides penalties. Nothing like a couple of young teams to slow down a game! (I STILL can't wait.)

We both have "look good on paper players" cause we are young as is San Diego. I think these 3 teams are going to make some noise in the coming years. It will be nice to see the Lions and Chargers back to there old championship form. The Lions are one of the oldest teams to not win a Super Bowl. Just before the SB was introduced the Lions and Oilers were the power houses of the AFL. Funny how neither have make and it to the SB. Titans went but lost but i dont count that. The Oilers go down in history with there best effort being 2 AFC chamiopnship matchups with Pitt. 78' and 79' i do believe. Then Bum Philips traded Pastorini and a ton of picks to the Raiders for Stabler and Casper. The Oilers lost to the Raiders in the playoffs that year and thats why Bum was fired. Bud let Bum do what he had never done before and thats let a coach have the final say in trade negotiations. Bum took a risk and lost. Considering the circumstances the Bum firing was more deserving than most i have seen. Anyway, Id like to see the Lions make it and win but never at the Texans expense.

I believe the closest I have seen the Oilers get was 30 minutes away with a huge lead against Buffalo.

I also think it is worth noting that Shaun Rodgers is a beast. I remember him plowing through the Texans line the last time we played.

Finally how does anybody have a schedule to know that we play week 2?
