head coach should have hc experience

we should hire a coach who has been a succesful head coach in the nfl before. we don't have time to be anybody's training ground. you don't know if anybody is going to be a good head coach until they have actually had success on the job. that said, finding a proven winner is not easy & would cost a bucket full of dough.

So you want a re-tread who has been a failure elsewhere ? ..... Most of the people w/ HC experience will be of this type .... Thats why they were fired or not offered a contract extension . :twocents:

Na, give me a young, aggressive, NFL (not college) coach with something to prove.

Someone like KubiaK!!!!

Nah... either you got it or you dont. I would rather land a new one the a used one. They would have to be equal to better record then our consultant Reeves we have before I would be happy with a used one.

I'd rather take a really successful assistant on his way up in the world than a failed former head coach who was kicked out the door somewhere else. I want someone like Gary Kubiak who has had nothing but success that they can rub off on our loser players, and lead them with his Superbowl rings.

I'm sure we could get scrubs like Mike Martz or Steve Mariucci that stink of failure, but that's not going to set us in the right direction.

The only way I'd take a former head coach is if he's one who retired as a successful head coach and is coming out of retirement, like when Parcells or Gibbs or Vermeil when came back.

Anyone up for getting Vermeil? As I understand he coached his last game w/ the Chiefs but I don't know if it's because he's quitting or getting canned. The guy took 2 teams to the Super Bowl and almost always had a winning season with the Chiefs. I think he had one losing season there.

Wow, that was fast. I really didn't expect the hatchet to start falling until tomarrow for any of these guys.

I would really like to see Kubiak get a chance. I think Wade Phillips and guys liek Greg Williams are great Coord. but not good HCs

I have been looking around at different coaches and I think what the Texans need is a tough Bill Cowher-esque coach. There are not that many around but one who comes to mind is Pat Hill. Hill is the current coach at Fresno State where he recruited Carr. Pat is a former offensive lineman and has NFL assistant experience with the Browns and Ravens. He is tough and plays a tough minded brand of smashmouth football. He has a way of developing good results without the best talent.

OK...bring on the insults, I know they are coming. But he is a good coach.

Jeff Fisher didn't have any HC experience before he coached the Oilers. By his third season he was coaching them in the Super Bowl where he lost by 6 inches.
