Hall of Fame Game Aug 1 2024

Need to see improvement from John metchie and xiaver hutchinson. Hoping our rookies have a solid game. Really want caleb bullock to blossom
 
This could be the spotlight game for several end of roster guys as they make a play for the 53. I really hope to see some 'potential' players excel and make it it even tougher on management to decide who stays and who goes.

Home whites? Except for the home opener, I don't think they're wearing white tops at home.

Anyway. Looking forward to AJ getting face time, maybe Stroud's interview by the sideline reporter, and that's about it. Should be a good old fashion borefest, as most preseason games are.

Not even going to get smoke through a keyhole or apple and a road map because it's an ESPN game.

Agreed. I could see them going two QBs with Mills and Boyle one game, then Keenum/Boyle another game.

They brought Boyle in to take snaps behind the OL backups and be a camp arm. If he impresses in preseason then there is an opportunity to go 2 QBs active roster and have Boyle on the PS if needed.

Mills/Keenum are trying to show there is a need for 3 QBs on the active roster. I could honestly see Stroud not playing at all in preseason. The Mcvay approach.

Boyle is almost 30. He is what he is, a guy that hangs around the league because so many QBs get injured every season. There are plenty of Tim Boyles available every season.

So, who is the Texans #2 QB in 2025? Mills will be a FA after this season.
 
Important pre-season for the DL, it looked quite thin in the middle already, and the depth beyond the DE starters if you considered the Autry and Edwards were to split time at DT due to the lack of out and out DT talent. Autry’s suspension will give a job to someone that would have otherwise been cut, unless a trade/FA signing is made.

I think Mills will stay in Houston. Unless he has some kind of ridiculous preseason or something that I don't want to speak into existence happens, I doubt he'll get any serious interest in FA. Unless you're offered a starting job (or a shot at it), or a ridiculous contract, why jump ship and have to learn a new system? TC reports have been pretty good for Mills. The Texans would probably covet the continuity more than another team would view Mills as a potential long-term answer as a starting QB.

He’s really not all that raw. I’ve read that he’s not very accurate. I’d really like to hear why NC likes this guy. No hate here. I hope he has an NFL career of note. Will be interesting to see Him not against the Bears but against Mills.

On Reddit someone wrote that the winner of the HoF game has failed to win a playoff game in the same season. 0-8 in its 22yr history. Last team to do it was the 2001 Rams who eventually lost to the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

Also Dameon Pierce will not play either

So no team has won the HOF game and also won a playoff game that season? But the Rams won the HOF game in 2001, but lost the Super Bowl? Didn't the Rams need to win a couple of playoff games to get to the Super Bowl?
