"Half the stadium or more cheering for Vince"

You say you're a Longhorn 1st and Texan 2nd, but sport a Titan avatar

if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck........

I personally think this is the biggest game since 19-10......maybe bigger.

I'm a UT fan, but I want to see Mario bash Vince's brains in.........he's a Titan.

Houston wants to be noticed as a great sports town...we talk about our sellouts and such, If I turn on the tube and it looks like a Titan home game. This team might as well move to LA, because we don't deserve to have a team here.....period.

WOW! Thats awesome.... I guess hell has just frozen over... I never thought I would be in agreement with a Horn... Good Job Carr Bomb!!

I am. Ill just be rooting for VY.

I root for the Texans every week, except for this week, I want VY to rub it in peoples face( those who never believed in him).

Besides, this season is over. You play to go to the playoffs, at least. Now its time to jockey for playoffs positioning. I want the Texans to get the best available player.

"You say you're a Longhorn 1st and Texan 2nd, but sport a Titan avatar"

Shows you my displeasure towards the team, huh?

Get rid of Carr and I will switch my avatar, until then..

That makes no sense what so ever. So your going to turn your back on the other 52 players on this team, because of 1 player.

If it only takes 1 player to do that, might as well become a Titan's fan, because of 1 player.

This is exactly the mayweather fans that keep this city from being a great sports town.

Despite what people think about Dallas, they aren't as mayweather as people make them out to be.........I lived there for a little bit. They support all their teams very loyally.......unlike Houston. Houston is like a kid with ADD, if it can't keep their attention they don't give a rats ass. This whole city is field with unloyal mayweather fans.

What's nauseating are Texans 'fans' who sell out to division rival fans. I understand the needing money around the holidays thing but otherwise I think it's pathetic.

I'm excited about the game. Texans win and both teams are 5-8. At first I was dreading what amounts to Fair Weather/Bandwagon Fan Appreciation Day but the more I think about it, I could care less about what happens in the stands.

Sorry bro but Xmas for my kids comes first. That stupid game paid for my Xbox 360. I bought season tickets. 3 of them. I've been to every game. I'm doing my part. Don't disparage me for taking advantage of a dumb market for this game. I take it the guys who are worried about blackouts don't attend games. I am supposed to be concerned about you? Sour grapes to me.

And I'll be rooting for the Texans to shut down VY.

Yes, Houston people suck as fans. Excuse us for wanting a winning product on the field and not making our city look like a joke. Yes, our faults. I mean, who wants to go to games to see their team lose, right?

Thank you.. All the fairweather fans will be standing out on Sunday. If you cheer for a Bud Adams team as a Texans fan, your a moron and the rest of the country will be laughing at you. One of the big reasons why Bud Adams took Vince Young over Leinart, despite the protest of Norm Chow and Jeff Fisher (USC guys), was for this reason. To make you Vince Young addicts look rediculous. Applaud his return during the introduction, thats cool. But when the whistle blows, hes a Titan, and hes in the Texans house. Plus the Titans are suc a lame team.. yack..

Correct.... It was 'ol bitter Buds face last chance to stick it to his home-town one more time... And all the fairweather, jock strap carrying, VY fans are being manipulated by Bud.... To make matters worse, they are so blinded by their man crush on Vince that they don't even know that they are being manipulated as little pawns in Buds revenge plan..

I see nothing wrong w/ Mario breaking Vince in half. He's at TITAN. Unfortunately, the NFL should have given this franchise to LA. Hell, fans here may run the team out to LA then they will be happy.

I think there is a large amount of loyal fans in this city. Hell, its big enough. But its people like Kfranco who seem to voice there negative opinion louder than anyone else. These people are like a disease in this town. Its time for the loyalist to stand up against the fascist regime that infest our airwaves and chat rooms with their Vince Young propaganda. Heres to the Texans loyalists, real sports fans. The people who take pride in Houston sports. Stand up!

Read closer 'bro.'

I made the exception just in case there was holiday money involved and said "otherwise" it's pathetic.

You gave your opinion, I gave you mine. Selling out to Titans fans is not 'doing your part' imo..... and since you brought it up, I've been to every game at Reliant and several roadies.

I would have respected this response a little more if you would have hooked your kids up with Playstation 3... j/k

Yeah turning your back on a team will really produce a winning product won't it.......damn that sure worked in the mid 90's didn't it.

Fans have absolutely no say on what player to take or decisions to make, despite if you think you do. You say you don't want to make our city look like a joke, yes your fault, let the nation see over half the stadium wearing Titan blue and THATS EXACTLY WHAT WE WILL BE.

Did you sell them to a Texans or Titans fan?

Sorry mang. I didn't read that part. Plus it got me amorous attention from my wife last night, she was so proud of me putting jolly ole santa first. That's newsflash worthy right there!

Things are definitely looking up re the sale of these tix. Perfect symmetry especially since I bought them Tuesday before black Wednesday last spring if you get my drift. Not that there's anything wrong with big ole Mo. Mario is going to be a good one too!

Down with fascism!! Down with the tyranny of Bud that enslaves fairweathered fans in our Great City .... Rise-up passionate fans!!! Take back what is rightfully ours!!

None of us want the Texans to lose, but showing "your displeasure" by wearing another teams colors is not how you do that... You make yourself and this city look pathetic by what some may perceive as a temper tantrum.

This whole situation about Vince is really a referendum on the Texans and all the poor decisions they have made and a team that appears to have zero heart outside a player or two.

The Texans have been pretty much a joke all over the country, now it comes home!

This shouldn't be a surprise...

What is worse, following a team that can't even field a respectable team, much less a .500 record, or following a hometown hero that is a huge playmaker that brought the goods finally to the Longhorns and the State of Texas, and basically said take me because I want to play with the Texans because "I am a Houston Texan?"

The Houston Texans are bordering on becoming a pathetic organization with it's only upside being a really nice stadium.

Vince will probably become the biggest mistake they every made in the first 5 years in a long line of other mistakes.

This is a culmination of a lot stuff, the Vince issue has just put it over the top!

People think I hate the Texans because I love VY.

People think you hate the Texans because you've sold your soul with that avatar. I could understand (sorta') if you had lost one of those dumb avatar bets, but to make the decision on your own freewill....yikes....

BTW, I didn't give you any neg rep...it's not what I do...

Its time for the loyalist to stand up against the fascist regime that infest our airwaves and chat rooms with their Vince Young propaganda. Heres to the Texans loyalists, real sports fans. The people who take pride in Houston sports. Stand up!

HERE, HERE! I agree. Fanatics unite, this is the time our team needs us the most! :texflag:

Are you really asking: What is worse, a football fanatic that sticks with his team through thick and thin, or a fairweather bandwagon fan who follows individuals over his team?

It's as simple of logic as that, my man. I hate the fact that the Texans are bottom-dwellers as much as the next guy, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to sell myself, my city, and my team out. Justify things however you want, but at the end of the day there is a reason why football fanatics and fair-weather fans have different definitions in the dictionary.

Adams has a better feel for personnel than McNair. No doubt about it. Adams wasn't so bad with his decisions about players. It was his decisions about everything else that was the problem. Now he's even gotten better at that with the retention of Jeff Fisher through the down years. Fisher is a very underrated head coach IMO. I kind of respect the way Adams plays hardball with players and agents. He's a curmudgeon if there ever was one.

Man all you people getting mad that we're gonna cheer for Vince can shove it. We're Texans fans too, we're still buying tickets to games. But Vince is our hero - Kubiak and McNair knew what they were doing when they passed on him, and now they get to see exactly what they missed. A city that LOVES a player for being so amazing. He defeated USC!!!

Texas is a great football state. Houston is not filled with Texans.

Really? Because I though fans pulled for their teams. If they cease to do so, they cease to be fans of that team. It all seems pretty simple to me.

I'd like to point out one thing to those Texans fans that might want to heap some ridicule and scorn on the people wearing Young jerseys at the game.

If possible, leave Young's mom, siblings, etc. out of the path of your wrath. It might be somewhat understandable were they to wear his jersey to the game. It also might be embarrassing if such boorish behavior ends up on the news.

I know we are talking foo'ball here, but we are also trying to have a civilization. :)

I believe VY better get his left and right tackles to bed by 10:00 Saturday night. If I was Mario Williams I would like very much to put VY out of the game in most unceremonious fashion. That is the matchup, not VY DC. We already know who wins that one based on the body of work. The match up is Mario against Young. It's going to be a good one. There could be a strange hush over the crowd this weekend. Mario's got something to prove too.

This is the NFL, do you really think they give a rats a## about what happened in college.

Do you think when Lienart goes to play at Oakland half the stadium is going to be wearing gold and red or Cardinal jersey's........hell no.......why, because despite their shortcomming, bad decision, and goofed decisions. They still support THE TEAM and are way better fans than us......way better.

If you want to support a player for being so amazing, wear a #59 jersey. This isn't the NCAA, this isn't Austin, this isn't the Rosebowl, its the NFL...for god sakes we're playing a divisional rival.

Cheer Vince all you want during the pregame announcements...I would

Once the game starts.....he's a Titan......he's the enemy. It doesn't matter how many times UT fans close their eyes and tap their shoes....he's not ever going to play here. It doesn't matter how many times UT fans hug their #10 jersey's and suck their thumbs.....he's not ever going to play here.

People need to grow up and get over it.

The Texans might be a dysfunctional child right now, but they're our dysfunctional child

Disgusted that we aren't one dimensional?

Don't talk to me about being a fan. I watch every texans game broadcasted and try to make it to as many of them as possible. I spend more time than is healthy trying to think up ways that the Texans could become a solid ball club. You have no right to try to judge me as a fan.

Besides, I'm a longhorn first. I was at every game Vince ever played in at UT. My friends and I had a draft party planned praying that the Texans would take VY. It didn't turn out. I like Mario. I just like VY more.

And don't get sarcastic with me about the talents of Vince vs the rest of the team concerning the win over USC. No bs you can spew to me over a msg board will take away the feeling I had when my underdog college team beat the team ESPN was heralding as "the best ever". For the rest of my life I will be a Vince Young fan, deal with it.

Really? Because I though fans pulled for their teams. If they cease to do so, they cease to be fans of that team. It all seems pretty simple to me.

Who said I wasn't cheering for the Texans? I'm a fan of the GAME first and foremost. The Texans are just the form in which the NFL is providing it to me.

You have zero room to talk to me about being a fan. I road tripped in a RV with 10 guys out to the rose bowl, on average killing a keg every 18 hours for 13 days straight. I support my teams. Eat crow.

VY's mother won't be sitting anywhere someone like you are describing could get to her.

Then why not visit there message board first. Watch tape of the UT this weekend and skip the game. If you want Vince to do well and cheer him when he does you are rooting for the Titans and against the Texans. You can be a VY fan all you want but you can only hope 1 team wins and 1 team loses, which will it be?

fan:

Function: noun
Etymology: probably short for fanatic
1 : an enthusiastic devotee (as of a sport) usually as a spectator

2 : an ardent admirer or enthusiast

Don't talk to me about being a fan.

That's pretty much the topic of this thread, actually.

I watch every texans game broadcasted and try to make it to as many of them as possible. I spend more time than is healthy trying to think up ways that the Texans could become a solid ball club.

That doesn't necessarily make you a fan. Sticking with your team through thick and thin makes you a fan. Choosing which games to pull for a team makes you a bandwagon fan, at best.

You have no right to try to judge me as a fan.

It's not about rights. Everyone on this board has the freedom to express their opinions, even as it relates to your status as a fan. Sorry, that's just how it is.

Besides, I'm a longhorn first. I was at every game Vince ever played in at UT. My friends and I had a draft party planned praying that the Texans would take VY. It didn't turn out. I like Mario. I just like VY more.

So you're a fan of UT and VY. That's cool. That's where your true allegiance lies, evidently. Now that you've admitted it, we all know where you stand. That just doesn't qualify as anything better than a bandwagon Texans fan. Fans don't cherry pick which games they're going to pull for their team.

For the rest of my life I will be a Vince Young fan, deal with it.

Admitting you have a problem is the first step in solving it ;)

Eat what crow.......

I don't care about the Rose Bowl, I'm on the Houston Texans MB, they have never been to the Rose Bowl. If you want to talk about UT go to a UT website or the NCAA Forum.

Once I'm here I'm able to take off the burnt orange and put on the steel blue.

Theres no crow to eat......although I do hope for the sake of this team the Texans make all those idiots in the stand eat crow Sunday, the other half of the idiots (Bush backers) have already had their fill.

For the record... Vince's knee was down at the 2 or 3 in the Rose Bowl last year... :stirpot:

For the record, there wasn't a time all year that we didn't punch it in from within the 10 yardline. It matters not.

The play that truely changed the game was the interception by Griffin (not the endzone play - although that was by far the most beautiful play I've seen in football) where he had the pick landed with control and the ground caused him to lose it. Thats a pick yo

Cool... I remember when I had my first beer too.

Go ahead and puke all game long. As for me, I will be laughing my ass off at the incompetent boobs running our franchise.
Naa, Porky. You'll just sit there, and stew in your own misery as you always do.:violin

Shoulda, coulda woulda...... I am sure USC was saying the same thing about 4th and 1.....

And yes, that was a nice interception... Take the compliment, because they are few and far between when it comes to TU..

Whats wrong with you? Ofcourse that makes me a fan. The Texans knew this situation would happen and accepted it. Maybe you should get with the times? For you to expect me to turn my back on Vince is straight up selfish. And to think, all of this is so that the texans get some respect for being a feared city to play in, which will help stroke your ego a bit. How sad.

Try being in the military stopping off at a port call........I would put a college kid in a coma.

Me<>college kid

:ohsnap:

I realize you are prideful in your drinking - most military men are. But you got nothing on us man, we get to train year round, not just at ports.

"I'm not drunk... I'm just tired from staying up all night drinking"
