Going to our first game this Sunday 10/19

NewtoHouston

Practice Squad
My girlfriend and I just moved to Houston from Boston, and we are going to be attending our first Texans game this weekend. Just have a few questions for you guys and gals.

1. I have already bought tickets, but o not have a parking pass yet, do I need to buy a parking pass, or is there parking I can pay for when I get to the stadium?

2. What time should we arrive at? We want to experience some of the pregame activities but I do not want to get there too early and not have much to do.

3. Will we be able to purchase food and drinks from the tailgater's, or are most tailgater's private?

4. I was wondering if our seats are any good, since I payed next to nothing for them. You can't even get standing rooms tickets for a Patriots game for less than $100. My seats are in Section 118 Row J ?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Welcome.

1. You must have a parking pass to enter the stadium parking lot. There are several areas near the stadium to park as well. I will leave it to others to better explain that.

2. Kick-off is at 3:00. You can get there as early as 11:00. If you just want to walk around and see things, get there at around 1:00. (You will be getting various invites on this thread to join tailgates)

3. I doubt anyone would sell you anything. They would give it to you first.

4. 118 Row J, should be ok.

I'm not too familiar with parking outside the stadium but I know there are no cash lots at Reliant. I have some friends who use the park and ride from Metro. They catch it somewhere just south of the stadium and pay $10, then ride the train to the orange lot. It's a little walk to the stadium but there is some pretty good people watching along the way. I don't know of anyone that charges anyone for food. There are pretty generous people on this board who would welcome you for a beer or some grub. I'd invite you to mine but I got the kiddos this week and it's probably going to be pretty lame. Let me know if you get desperate because I always have plenty of beer and food. At worst Budweiser Plaza opens 2 hours before the game and there is food, drink, and music. Your tickets are in the 10th row of the Bullpen. Hope you don't mind standing. They are a pretty rowdy bunch and lots of fun. Many charter members of the Bullpen on this board. Hope you enjoy yourself.

I will try to get my hands on a parking pass. But the ones I see on craigslist are selling for around 40-75 dollars, does that sound right? If I dont have a parking pass can I still get into the lots? Also I would want to pay my fare share if I was eating someones food and drinking someones beer. But I guess it's a total different culture from were I came from. Everyone seems so nice in Texas!

Prices vary based on the game. Might try ebay. Yes you can get into the lots without a pass. That's how some of my buddies get to our tailgate. You are basically free to roam once you get there, you just won't be able to get your car and any gear in (Although I have seen people walk in with a 12 pack and no cooler.) That's why people are using the Metro. Although there is probably good tailgating everywhere I'm partial to the blue lot due to its proximity to the stadium.

Ya its a little different here in Texas:cowboy1:
I would try and buy a parking pass but if not you can always walk around to the different tailgates once you get to the stadium.
I would agree that 1:00 is a good time to arrive
Have fun and Go Texans!

Awesome! I too will be at my first game this Sunday...I've gotten a few invites already...everyone is very accomodating and friendly...I can't wait!

You could hit the Shipley's donuts and park for $20 if you come early enough. Its at Main & Murworth. The yellow lot is across Murworth from there if thats where you wanna go.

You can also hop on one of those bicycle chariots and get driven down to the stadium. Any lot is easy to get to from there.

If you need to park and attend the Blue Crew Tailgate, which you are Invited, you can park at the Park Plaza hotel and walk right across the street to the Blue Crew. A map should be apearing shortly.

Now as far as Tailgating you are invited to the Blue Crew, You are required to bring nothing to the Blue Crew and if someone asks for money for anything except a piniata bat then come get me. If you have a certian favorite beverage you might bring that.

Bull Pen shots are at 1pm and the piniata is at 12pm

It will be a pleasure to have you in our tailgate area

HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!

Ike took away my first game this year, and I don't think I can go until November, but I am sure looking forward to it! :texflag::fans:

There is a Park and Ride location at 610 and Fannin, where on game days you can park for $10 and ride the rail to the stadium for $2. Get there plenty early since you may have to wait to buy your rail tickets and board the train (usually no more than 30-45 min from the time you park until you arrive at the stadium).

Here are your Parking options if you don't have a pass:

1. The Houston Grand Plaza hotel is located at the corner of 610 & Kirby. They charge $20.

2..Park anywhere near the Metroline & ride the train in. Train costs $2. Parking at the South Fannin station will incur an extra $10.

You can enter any lot with whatever you can carry - coolers, kegs, lawn chairs, etc - even if you do not have a pass.

Here's some maps and additional info for you....clickity click
