He plays strong safety, so he is currently #2 at strong safety behind CC Brown. I think Earl is over his injury, so if he deserved to start I'm sure he would be starting against the Bills.

yah i meant to say strong safety, dunno what i was thinkin bout.. but iwas really hoping that Earl was gonna be starting... oh well hes still got time to win the spot back

Nothing against CC Brown in the long run, but I didn't think he was ready to be a starter. That worries me. Why am I wrong here?

I think what can definitely be determined from this though, is just how BAD Eric Brown really was. Beat out by a 4th round rookie coming off of an ACL injury who is in turn beat out by a 6th round rookie from Lousiana-Lafayette.

Nothing against any of those guys, but damn.

CC Brown showed enough to the coachs that he deserve to be the #1. He hits like a train. He also doesn't quit. He stayed late to get extra work and he didn't get tired during training camp. CC Brown would have been a first day pick if it wasn't for other GMs thinking he was going to be shipped to Iraq.

He has also made a lot of mistakes.

Let's hope that he's our Rodney Harrison or Ed Reed because SS is one of, if not the most important position in a 3-4. Kind of scary that this position is being turned over to a rookie... again.

What are you so worried about? He can't be any worse than Eric Brown in the Broncos game, getting burned by every no-name TE on the planet. It's kind of nice having two young guys to compete because either way whoever wins isn't going to be a vet about to breakdown.

i think the thing is that the coaching staff was worried about how long it was taking glenn earl to recover from his injury...cc brown showed the dedication to the team that impressed coach capers enough to make him the starter this week...personally i see both of these guys being our safties in the future...one being the starting SS and FS

He may still may be - case you hadn't heard, they're not done shootin' over there yet.

Caserly was assured that he won't be called for duty until after the season. And he won't be shipped unless there is a dire need.
