My hopes as a Texans fan is for Branden Albert to fall to #18, but in this scenario, he doesn't. The Texans do need a CB with Robinson being out at least the 1st half of the year, but with bringing in Reeves, I think the Texans will wait until later in the draft to select one. However, if Mike Jenkins is there at #18, the Texans may just go ahead and take him. I don't see any OT's that the Texans would consider taking at this pick, so I won't pick one either. With Harvey and Merling gone, I don't see the Texans taking any other DE this high. So, if the Texans don't find a trade partner, I see them going for an OLB.

My selection for the Houston Texans 1st Rnd pick at #18 is:

Keith Rivers OLB Southern Caliornia

Rivers for me. The LBs in this draft are weak. He upgrades the Will in the longterm. There are DBs and a few OL that can be grabbed in the 3rd and later rounds, but few LBs with Rivers combination of skills.

BTW he is not my target, he is just my fall back based on this mock.

Seriously doubt that Williams goes ahead of Otah after Otah's workout and William's back problems. That being said, should the draft go this way there's no way I pass up Otah. Not only is he BPA, but he plays a position of need.

For those saying Rivers, where will we play him? Rivers is a pure Will, and Greenwood is firmly entrenched there simply based off his $4M salary this year. We need an immediate impact guy with our first 2 picks, and I'm not sure if the addition of a rookie Rivers upgrades our team. We're at the point in our existence where we can't pick players with the intention of using them as rotational players and slowly working them in. Rivers will be better than Greenwood in the long-term, but if you're looking for short term impact, you have to look away from Rivers.

If this scenario occurs next Saturday, I would be trying like crazy to trade back, but if there's no suitors, you have to pick Jenkins.

What if we drafted Derrik Harvey, should Weaver still start becasue he makes more? No one should be entrenched in any position based soley on their salary.

You have a way higher opinion of Greenwood than I do. Rivers would be an imediate upgrade over him IMO.

By the way I also picked Rivers.

this settles that-

Texans take top CB in fan mock; Eagles on the clock... With the 18th pick in this year's fan mock draft, Houston South Florida CB Mike Jenkins who edged out USC LB Keith Rivers and Pitt OT Jeff Otah. Philadelphia is now on the clock. Eagles' fans can vote by e-mail their selection here. Please note this is a schedule change; because we are running a few picks behind we are going to ask Philadelphia fans to vote through 6 PM ET on Saturday, with Tampa Bay to go on Sunday.

Took the tacks three fricken years to get Keith bullock on line....another chase college LB, BTW. you're willing to wait three years for this guy to be coached up ? Greenwood will keep him on the pine in '08 if he is the pick. He can't cover his own shadow. If you're expecting this guy to come in and start for you there is no way Kubes will put this loose canon on the field untill he covers someone in practice. that's going to be awhile.

He would start over Greenwood right away. By the way Bullock is BA!
