Gary Walker

:hmmm: Ever notice how Gary Walker is ALWAYS finding his way into the media reports following the game? Is this because all the reporters and press folks flock to him because he gives them juicy quotes? After all, it's not like he's blazing a path to the Pro Bowl or anything like that. And I have to wonder if this may not be somewhat choreographed so that Walker gets all the heat while the other guys basically get a pass.

Nah, Walker is just glib and a straight shooter. If you want a direct or dry quote, Walker is your man. Hopefully he bounces back next season and gives us the player that went to the Pro Bowl in 02.

If you've ever met Gary in person, you'd understand that he's a straight to the point guy. He wont bs you, he'll tell you how he feels about the situation.

It's just how he is.

Yeah, I wonder if he would be straight forward if asked how his play justifies the huge contract we've given him?

does anyone remember what injury it was that tookhim out last year? Because he was pretty good before, so maybe there are some lingering affects.

"Turf Toe"

yeah, Walker is one of those players that tells it like he sees it. I appreciate his candidness as a fan.

As far as the criticism, instead of just making negative comments about him, tell us a solution and where, exactly, do we find a player to replace him. It's not like there is a plethora of D-linemen out there, which is one of the reasons we have a 3-4 to begin with.

The best we can do is hope he comes back with a good season in 05. We paid alot of money to have him, and he wont be released. He is a huge player, who hasnt been playing up to potential.

All we can do is hope for the best.

I know that I'm in the minority here, but I think G-Funk will have a better year next year. I don't think he has lost all of his skills all of a sudden, and I'm not ready to give up on him yet.

We all want him to have a good season, but either maybe his injuries are nagging a bit, or he signed a big fat contract, cashed in, and is just waiting to retire.

i seriously doubt that he is just sitting back waiting to retire. The guy seems to have a passion for the game, and stresses his desire for this team to win. He wouldnt say the things he did if he didnt ! Maybe next season will be better for him, i hope it is, because even with age you dont just drop in the stats that bad in just 2 years !

I know that is what makes me think maybe he is having an issue with some sort of injury or maybe his shoulder never healed 100%.

The turf toe seems to be the one that will linger on a guy.

Usually with injuries that put you out for a while, and usually need surgery, you are not 100 percent until the second year back... this is generally the case...i am not sure if it is or not with GW, but lets hope so, so he can get back into a form more similar to 2002

It would make sense that at his older NFL age, it would take longer to get over lingering injuries.

The bright side is none of the injuries kept him out of the game this season, so there shouldn't have been any major setbacks. I still would like us to pick up a first day DT/DE whatever to rotate though.
