I don't get the age issue. If taken in the 1st, Bolles will be 30 when his rookie contract expires. That's not old for an offensive lineman. Whether the guy is 20 or 25, get the best player.
With Bolles it's not the age thing alone because it's also about his lack of experience as he's played only one year of big college ball (the rest of his experience is JUCO), so
the age thing taken with his immaturity in terms of playing experience is a tough combo for lots of teams to handle. Because of his lack of experience it stands to reason
he needs more time in the big leagues to come into his own to e a productive NFLer, actually I view him as a project, which means the potential for the real payoff for a teams investment may not be realized because that maximum potential might be eclipsed by Bolles hitting his physical-athletic peak when he's 30 vs say 25-26.
Right generally speaking they have more productive seasons remaining in their careers when they are in their late 20s vs their early 30s.The problem with 30 is a long term second contract with 10s of MILLIONS of GTD $$$. Most teams would rather their first RD draft pick 2nd contract come due when they are 27 or 28.
That's the problem for the player in the free agency market. That has no relevance to the team drafting the 25 year old. In fact, they may be able to get a better deal on an extension due to his age.The problem with 30 is a long term second contract with 10s of MILLIONS of GTD $$$. Some offensive lineman like HOFamer Bruce Matthews can play effectively into their 30s, maybe even late 30s, but more often they decline in their production around 30Plus OT can play into their 30's and still be very productive, also add in the fact that comparing a 25 year old who has only played one year of real ball vs a 25 year old who has taken 5-6 years of punishment. In terms of wear and tear he would have much less then other 25 years olds so the direct comparison especially in terms of injury risk and diminished production might not apply.

Yes good point but of course tackle is the more demanding position so there's many, many more tackles who can also play on the inside but fewer guards & centers who can be adequate tackles. Bolles is one of those exceptions who is an outside guy but is not considered of sufficient strength and girth to be able to also play guard.I want an OT that can also play OG.
https://www.profootballfocus.com/dr...42417&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nflnl2016Bolles, like Ramczyk, has only one season of FBS competition under his belt. In that season, however, he finished with the fourth-highest run-blocking grade of any FBS tackle. Pass protection was an issue, as Bolles finished with an average grade after allowing 20 total QB pressures last season on 472 pass-blocking snaps. It should also be noted that he led the country with 17 penalties last season. — Mike Renner, @PFF_Mike
All rookie OT's receive a lot of help from RB's/WR's their rookie yrs.
Look at Conklin as an example, he received a lot of help and really improved his rookie yr.
As for the last part of your post I normally would agree, but since Bolles hasn't played a lot of football at a higher level, much less had a professional type S&C program, I think his upside is very high.
Agreed on drafting 2 OT's. I want an OT that can also play OG.

BTW 2017 is such a weak class for tackles I'm gonna say if you offer me the over/under on 2 1/2 for the # of tackles drafted in the first round I want the under.
True but it's just bad policy to draft players, especially in the first round, on the basis of need and it's even worse to reach on the basis of need.Supply and demand. I will take the over
Don't think Moton will make it to 57 but we will see.True but it's jut bad policy to draft players, especially in the first round, on the basis of need and it's even worse to reach on the basis of need.
Solution for the Texans on the need @ RT ? Draft Taylor Moton who's got multiple years of experience as a tackle starter and was arguably the most impressive tackle at this years senior bowl and best of all we can get him in the second round.

Agree with you on that jradMIT which is why Ricky & Billy one way or the other will need to move aggressively on Moton if they want him.Don't think Moton will make it to 57 but we will see.
Rotoworld's Josh Norris passing along word that the Seahawks have been in close contact with Utah OL Garett Bolles as recently as this week.
We think the Seahawks are targeting Bolles, but there's a chance they visited other prospects in the last week as well. Bolles fits Tom Cable's style, in terms of an athletic mover with an aggressive finishers mentality. The team has three third round picks and might use one to trade up.
