Game 5 Thread: Texans @ Cowboys

In the end today we could not stop the run without run blitzing and eventually they made plays down the field on us. On offense we could not run the ball on the Cowboys front 7 so they never had to run blitz or just bring up the safeties. That eventually smothered our passing game. I can't say that was unexpected (why they were 13 point favorites) but still dissappointing.

At this point we are 1-4 and about what I expected. Six wins is what I predicted this season and I think we are still on schedule.

Pretty simple issues here. The first half we got pressure -- Bledsoe couldn't get the ball to the WRs. Second half, without pressure, we knew our secondary wasn't good enough to cover them. It showed.

Next, we can't run the ball so sustaining a drive is impossible. Even when Dallas wasn't focusing on the run, we couldn't seem to do it. So of course all of our guys are covered up. This is pretty much the path everyone saw it going down if Houston kept on playing like they have in the past few games.

HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!

Cowboys got in that ass today.

So where was Andre Johnson???

He was MIA, what happened to him getting yards, he was SHUT DOWN!!!

What about Sam-Kon gado, SHUT DOWN
David Carr vs. Dallas Secondary- 0 TD, 2 INT, SHUT DOWN!!!

COWBOYS OWN!!!!!!!!

wow very imperssive. it only took your mediocre team a half to dominate our horrible team. don't get to excited. bledsoe looked horrible for a guy throwing 2 tds. very uneasy, inaccurate in the pocket, and that was with only a bit of pressure on him. yeah you shut down our running game but who hasn't so don't be impressed by that either

Spot on Zep. Watch how some try to blame it on Carr though.

We NEED a Running BACK!!! I say we trade ANYONE for Michael Turner.. Crap is all I see... excuse me but this is freakin stupid. We have NO RUNNING GAME...

WE are HOPELESS we should slap Dominic Davis's doctor for misleading the team and not drafting (God forgive me) Reggie freakin Bush!!!

This is Stupid.. I wouldn't give a pack of gum for Dayne or Gado... NO vision NONE just drive into the pack no wonder they can't run... LOOK before you jump into the pack morons... maybe you can bounce outside but Noooooooo they can't cause they have NO vision!!!

What a horrable game I am now going to wear a bag over my head...

The Mighty Disgusted Texan!!!!!!!!!!

VOTE for a MichaelTurner Trade- are you listening??? Coach get yer head around this mistake and FIX it!!!! NOW!!!! Before we ask for yer head too... I WANT RESULTS...

I HATE LOOSING...We had too much from the crappy Oilers... Not again please not again... God help us...

Watch the Carr hater drival this week. Max stupid will the the operative word.

So some of us don't see things the same way. I suppose I could say "max stupid" to define your camp as well but I won't. I'll just let the thing play out as it has for going on five years now.

Look at the bright side--at least we don't have to wait an 'extra' week to see what the coaches can't figure out about coming up with an effective 4 qtr game plan...

Man... LOL... I feel ya - I swear I do. But breathe some. It's making it REALLY hard to be a fan of the team, but give Kubiak a little time to clean up the previous mess left behind.

too, I'm waiting for those posters that are celebrating the fact "we won" the first half...geeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

mehhhhhhhh, quit yappin, we dominated. I definetley would calll a 34-6 win, domination. Julius Jones got dirty for another 100 yards game. Owens got dirty with 3 TD's. Our defense shut down your entire offense only 6 points allowed. Get real!!!!!

God awful to watch, Dayne & Gado are terrible we need a power back. Dayne is darn near 300 lbs & runs like twinkle toes, It's disgusting to watch. RB wouldn't help us much more we need AD or a Steven jackson, someone who can hit the hole fast. :brickwall

At this point we chould put full faith in Lundy. At least then such low runn procution may be somewhat acceptable. Plus it would allow Lundy as chance to grow.

I understand but wait a minute... Cleaning up a mess is exactly what needs to happen. But we are doing it with a wetnap. little spots at a time. Not Enough. We need a real ball busting attitude change around here. Are you ready for another loosing season? I'm NOT...

Kubiack needs to say something about DD and The Bush deal. If he were to say we thought DD would be fine but got burned by the diagnosis of Dominic well thats a start. But to pick up Dayne and Gado with no real game plan is Stupid. Right? Hell we STARTED LUNDY?!?!? Who in their right mind would do that? and to expect results out of a small rook???? rediculous absolutly absurd... Pro NFL Team??? Where? Who? WHEN?

Oh, I breath... in between cuss words!!! lol

The Mighty Texan

Whatever. Been seeing any stats out of GB for Morency?
Fumble fingers extraordinaire. He was benched last game after 2 fubles alone.

Ahman Green catches fumblitis sometimes, who would you rather have? Nogain or Green? Our running backs stink worse than a week-old used diaper in Texas heat. You can blame blocking all you want but these 2 guys are terrible even when the guys up front create lanes for them to run through.

I think next game we should play sage for what time he had left he did not do so bad.
Sage played against prevent D. Carr was doomed by an abyssmal run game plus Andre didn't help matter much today either. He dropped at least three passes that would have given us thirddown conversions. Pass protection was decent but down field coverage was very tight.

Well guys 1 to 1 us and the fags which should have been 2-0 but cuz of our run game...................yea u can throw that out of the window.........MR. KUBIAK should've known but nah he STILL wanted to run. Listen DAVID CARR was the leading rusher the o-line.............yea still the OFFENSIVE LINE just another excuse. OOOOO wait lets draft mario williams he'll make some points!!!! Just take a look at the Saints fellow Texans see everybody going after RB yea that would've left EM and AJ wide open. I'll leave that 2 the great CHARLIE CASSERLY for the # 1 pick thanks man. I know yaw say "it'll take a couple of years for the texans"................yea well it shouldn't its the COWBOYS. Yea its the superbowl for me, **** hey I'll pay more to see this game than the super bowl but nah the COWBOYS showed yaw up this time............WHEN'S THE NEXT GAME????!!!!! I"M READY!!! GO TEXANS!!!:yahoo:

They didn't run through anything. Only into the back of an Offensive lineman or a swarm of White jerseys. Pathetic.

Man..get off the Cowboys fans here. They just kicked our tails and now, they can't at least gloat and show a little 'in your face' mentality? That's why we play these games - they're just games. We'd be ALL OVER THEM if we would've won.

Here are the facts and some possible answers:

* We have no running game - - bring in Winston, Weary and start them. Maybe even make a move for a lineman. Also, call Tennessee and get Chris Brown or Ledell Betts or activate Chris Taylor. Get the one with the best deal.

* The defense actually looked pretty good today. You can't stay on the field that long and produce. Mario, IMHO, looked Fantastic today - as did Weaver, and the Johnson 'brothers.' Maybe, we look at picking up some depth in the DBfield.

* And for Carr...I know we have no running game. However, oh well...I can't explain it....so forget it.

The biggest fact is we gave up in the second half. Someone mentioned purging ourselves of Dom Capers team. I think that may be the way to go. Maybe you can move Robinson for a two higher picks in 2007 draft. I don't know but it just seemed like we quit. Andre looked as if he was sulking in that game because of his drops - I don't know but I would expect something to happen this week - something to shake things up...something!

yes dallass did dominate the second half as i said, but as i also said what was so impressive about it. The Texans were still in the game early in the 3rd pd. regardless if we didn't do anything offensively. dallass only got rolling when the Texans started turning the ball over. taking this long to "dominate" a lower level team like the Texans cannot bode well for the cowboys in my (yappinn) opinion

Coleman was released today. Line him oppostie Robinson. Ditch Sanders, who in in position to pick off the first TD for T.O. but fell out of postion then looked for a flag.
The team seems to be looking for calls more so than looking to make plays.

It might very well be, I dont' recall.

Now that might be wrong but just the idea that nothing comes to mind makes me think of all the beatings Capers left him to the very end of. I remember reading how ol' Dom thought David was learning something from that but all I thought at the time was "Why put the miles on your rookie QB so early?" and "What do you learn from looking at the sky while a defender climbs off of you to do his sack dance?"

Oh yeah and the ever popular "What are we paying Tony Banks for anyway?"

There's no point for Carr to be in there when it's less than a minute to play and they're up by 28-34 points.

I'll agree with you there, I detest Carr, but I'll even admit that Capers "coaching" did little, if anything, to actually bring him up to speed.

But this was interesting to me. A casual aside to Carr, that he is responsible too? I don't know. Just something that struck me as odd because of the situation...

Good teams take advantage of turn overs. Dallas did that. Hats of to them.
T.O. endzone dance... terrible. NEVER do that one again.

Are you stoned? I wouldn't call Tenn anything except Traitors! Brown sucks so bad Henry is in for him.. Nuff said.

And Carr... Carrr is great!!! our o-line needs a severe butt kicking! He can't do his job with defenses in his face. Period! Regardless of the fact that we have no imagination in our play calling or lack there of!!!. Where are the PLAYS??

Michael Turner IS the man available. He backs up LT. But can start for ANY TEAM today!! Trade for HIM!!!

The Mighty Texan

What's amazing..really...is that PBuch is honestly one of the worst defenders I've ever seen lineup in a pro game. I don't like hyperbole or exageration but Lord, he has no mind for the game at all. Sanders is just a bad player - no skill. But Pbuc has as much talent as ANYONE and he may be as bad as ANYONE in the league. Honestly, I can't imagine Pbuc being worse that Ahmad Carroll...no idea but still - wow.

Go for broke - inthe Chron today they talked about that DB from St Louis and Clemons the LB from Washington. Go after them - do something - do SOMETHING!

How do you instill heart? How do you score from the one? How do you not convert 3rd and 1? How do you...how do we...how is it....how.....

I feel like Wednesday nights at 8:00pm

LOST

I agree but they're going to ask for a 1st and a 3rd and our 1st could be THE 1st. So, he's unrealistic. Chris Brown could be the worst in the NFL and you STILL start him over Gado and Dayne.

I feel ya... we are so lost...

I will NEVER give up. I wish I could have ten minutes to chew their asses out!!

I think we should fine them for stupid plays... yea that would work. Get burned $1000 fine... Get scored on $5000 fine... Fumble $7000 Fine...

They would be paying attention from day one!!! or they would be paying for piss poor performance.

The Mighty Disgusted Texan!!!

Michael Turner for Houston RB. Make the call Kubiack you got til Tue.

Why would we entertain the idea of a trade? Think about it. Bad teams trade with bad teams. Ex. Texans-Packers Mornecy/Gado. Does either team REALLY win? Ever really seen a winning squad decide to part with a good player willingly? If they do, there is more than a good reason for it. I'm sure of that!

I know second guessing is easy for us but seriously...

Owen Daniels can't run a seam against the deep coverage?

With the Cowboys over pursuing, we can't run a bootleg?

With Henry refusing to play deeper than 5 yards, we can't run a pump-n-go?

If we can't run up the gut, can we mix in a toss sweep? Trick play? One FREAKING bomb just to make them 'think' SOMETHING?

I don't even know what questions to ask anymore.... :shoot:

I disagree. Stand pat and start Lundy. Carr has time to throw this year (WOW). That means he can make some plays and win a few games (not many, but some). Keep playing. Draft Rb early to compensate for Davis' physical ineptitude. Can anyone say.. .ANDRIAN PETERSON.
Hat eto say it. I love DD but come on. Something has to give there.

So... look what we did with this years first round pick? It was the 1st of the first? and we blew it!!! We should have picked Reggie or Vince and traded them away for a few like a Rickey williams deal but Noooo. Give them the first and 3rd let them take a chance. Give them picks...who cares... He (MT) drives like a tank!! We need him!!!! Look at what Dallas did with TO they were and are desperate and TO worked for them today didn't he.. what a day to show up!!?? Damn shame really...

Unrealistic, I don't think so I wouldn't give 2 sticks of gum for Brown.

No friggin way I'm ready for another losing season. Still looking for the 8-8 range at the end of the season. If not, season ticket holders will be given half of their money back for tickets and beverages will be half off next year for the half @$$ed performace the Texans are providing.

Oh, and thanks for breathing. :shades:

Your the man!!
CBS switched the game on me!! They switched to the freakin Tenn game after the last Dallas score in the 3rd?! Insult to injury. I get no respect around here. They blame The Mighty Texan for everything.

I live in Cal. But, I wanted to buy season Tix and fly to ALL the games from Here..But, I got over ruled... Women they just don't get it... I don't care about the money I care about Houston Texans its in my blood... She's harrassing me now calling my Texans losers... I should have bought the tix and got a new Texas Girlfriend...lol I would have been happier... really I would have been much much happier....lol

Can you imagine how many phone calls and emails and text massages I have gotten today? Rubbing in this miserable defeat... ahhhh! I deserve it.

Maybe we should get a psychiatrist on the board to cousil us during these hard times? hahaha thats funny!!

I'm curious as to when Kubiak will realize that the running game is not working. 5 GAMES, and they are probably averaging 1.5yds/carry. :hairpull:

i cant believe you guys! all this talk about how we dont have a running game, did we all forget that with this system we can take any runningback and have a good rushing attack. we can bring in a 6th round pick and some scrap heap runningbacks and do well we dont need to waste high draft picks on a runningback. we have to many other areas of need to waste a pick on a runningback.. come on guys lets not forget our motto from the preseason..

LOL..indeed. NO Saints w/Reggie 5-1. Houston Texans w/Super Mario :mario: 1-4. The symmetry is hilarious. We got us a super duper management team. Sure.

hts

Are you out of your mind?? Dude?? C'mon... are you a staff member defending the "system"??? Show me where ANY RB has been here?? I'll take ANY RB if you have one... We DON'T have a running game... it is NOT HAPPENING! Pull your head out of the clouds. We have taken in Dayne & Gado both real bigtime rejects! Facts are we need a real RB. Period. The Coach is great! The system needs quality players. Players we don't have. 5 years later is not a rebuilding year. Capers is gone because of it and we need a real big woodshed to smak some more *****s around. No more excuses! We blew it!!!! I would have more respect if the staff would just admit it and start letting people go.!! Face the music! The fat lady sings BEFORE each game around here!! LIFE SUCKS for Texans fans! Period.

What was our motto?... rest the starters

We let some interesting things happen and no one has explained it enough... RESULTS are what we need we have plenty of excuses!!!

Michael Turner for Texans RB!!!!!

I don't think our line is handling whatever is different about run blocking this year very well at all. I don't see any holes for RBs to run through. I just don't see them. Admittedly, Bush could probably bounce outside on some of those nonexistent holes, but it doesn't look like the RBs are at fault to me. It looks like really bad run blocking.

I also think the Saints are winning for reasons other than Bush (mostly). He has his effect, but he's not doing that alone at all.

I can still say that, as of draft day and all times before that, I would not have taken Williams #1. Would I take him now? Well, my decision on that keeps changing back and forth. I don't know what Bush and Young really did today, so I'll have to find out. Heard Young won the game in the last 5 minutes. I haven't actually seen him do anything positive at all, but I'll look and see what happened.

sarcasm mighty texan!!! i was being sarcastic making fun of all the posts we read during the preseason about how the system will produce great runningbacks and how walli lundy was a better player than reggie bush it was only a joke man. trust me i know the backs that we have here are a joke

You got me on that one! Yer right Texan RB's are a Joke!!! Thank God yer joking... I thought you'd lost yer mind... And I live in Cali!! were common sense is not so common...Lol

I need some beer I ain't dealing with this loss very well... Its the first time I got a broadcast out here... and they cut my game off in the 3rd quarter.?!@#$..And they sent me to tenn/wash talk about insult!!!

I'm getting sick again... gotta go puke!!

Michael Turner Texan RB of the Future...

Yeah well i thought we might of had a chance today after the first half. Thats what is so depressing about these losses i turned on the TV knowing we would probably lose but then something happened and we were winning at the half then something else happened. THE TEAM HAS A TOTAL *******
MELTDOWN AND GETS BLOWN OUT AND DOESNT SCORE AGAIN. Oh and im also in Cali and that really made me angry when they switched it i ended up watching the saints (and Reggie Bush) beat the eagles and bashing my head against the wall asking myself how could this be happening again.

:brickwall :brickwall :brickwall :brickwall

I'd agree with you, if Reggie was bouncing things around in the BigEasy, but he ain't. Right now, we might very well have a much better running back in WaliLundy, but for some reason, our coach doesn't want to activate him for a game.

You know, I agree with you that we aren't creating any holes for our running game, and I think people have forgotten that we have given up 5 sacks in 3 out of 5 games..... Our OL is in serious trouble. Maybe a little more practice will help them.

I've been wondering why we don't get Weary into the game, I found out yesterday, I didn't like what I saw. In the preseason, he was doing much better than McKinney, I thought, but didn't look much different yesterday.

Like I said, maybe they need more practice.

I will say (again) that yesterday, we ran more Denver ZBS, than we have this year in the preseason. All the guys looked pretty good, a few guys going the wrong way, most of them kinda soft, but you can tell they are just learning.

I'm willing to give them two more games, but then we'll be past the trade deadline.... but I think they are getting it, and our season is not lost.

Maybe we believed that it would be best to go 'veteran' initially and try to win a few. Hopefully, now that we're pretty much done, it would be best to truly see what we have at RB, at LB, and OL. Who knows? Maybe Hodg can play LG, maybe Pitts goes to RT, maybe Winston starts at LT...I mean, seriously...do we know anything after 6 weeks? Heck, start Chris Taylor and just pound him, see what happens, you have nothing to lose really.
