Game 3 Thread: Redskins @ Texans

Kinda goes with the Carr haters..

IF that Deep ball would have been a touchdown..all Carr haters would say it is a garbage stat.. since it was an INT it fuels the fire that Carr can't throw the deep ball (he had a nice deep ball earlier in the game) so isn't that INT a "garbage stat" too??

I just don't get it..If Carr throws a short pass and AJ gets some YAC ..carr haters say.. Carr throws short again and AJ made him look good.. Well AJ got to the pro bowl by taking a short pass and getting yards..

I am surpised noone opened a thread about Weigart for costing us a good gain to potentially get us a score ..He killed an early drive before the game got out of hand

Heck Brunnell lived off that all day long against the Texan defense..

Carr isn't perfect, yet he isn't the worst problem on this team at this particular time..

Carr had some great passes today....but lets call the great passes great and the bad passes bad at least.

Let's also keep in mind if it weren't for Thomas Johnson and his boneheaded penalty on the fumble return by Orr we wouldn't be talking about Carr's INT. However, since it did happen I can't for the life of me understand why Kubiak would call or Carr would check to a deep pass play like that one with neither AJ or Moulds on the field.

We still had a shot at a win if Carr doesn't put it up for grabs...but you can't do that and win shootouts in the NFL. A score there and we are only down one score. The game was still in reach...but not after the pick.

This team SUCKS! This team really do need Jesus right about now. Offense sucks, and defense just plan dumb. Redskins did the same plays over and over again, and this defense still can't catch on.

This is a cruse team.

Absolutely it was, but again I'm not seeing why they had Walter and Sheppard on the field if you're planning on throwing it deep. It was still a bad choice by Carr to throw into double coverage like that.

I knew we would be bad........Just not this bad.

Was an Oilers fan through the thick and thin, I will remain a Texans fan through the thick and thin. Even though it is mostly thin right now.

I don't think the choice of pass was as bad as the pass itself. If you are going to do that you can't just toss it up like a punt (he did that twice today - the earlier one dropped by the Wash CB). You have to throw it in the back corner where only your guy has a shot at it.

That was another pitiful performance. Imagine if we had not upgraded by adding Moulds and Flanagan. Wait, I guess you have to go out and find HEART somewhere else. I don't know where the Texans might find some, but it seems that a trip to OZ would not be out of the questions. While there, it would be nice to get some brains as well, for those of us who are season ticket holders and were too stupid that we bought into the "Mario is the best pick" sales pitch. As the guys on the radio said afterward. "It was a stupid pick. Everyone in the NFL knew it was a stupid pick. Well, everyone but the Texans." Jesus-God what a bad team and a waste of time driving over from Beaumont. I seriously don't think that this team is ANY better than last year, and will be lucky to win 2 games this year, if they don't split with the Titans and beat the Raiders.

You'd have to think that if they've got a safety and a corner on Walter that the dump off pass to the RB or TE would be open underneath. I haven't gotten a chance to look at the play to see if they had a dump off, but it seems to me you'd go with the safe pass in that situation to pick up some yards and maybe a first. No doubt that Carr didn't throw the ball well either. He seemed to underthrow it a bit much like the one he threw to AJ where Rogers had him well covered.

We're not giving up, just can't take anymore. Its been five years of games like today. We're just not enthusiastic anymore. If you are after this, you have to be some sort of masochist... "Thank you sir can I have another!?" "Thank you sir can I have another!?" "Thank you sir can I have another!?"

I don't think that any comment could sum it up any better.

These guys just act like they are cashing a check and trying not to get hurt. Ryans is the only one who hits like he means it... Does this defense know what containment means? I have never seen a team get burned on cutbacks all game long and never make any adjustments. This is pro ball.

one question,do you think yall got a chance against the cowboy's?

NOT!!!!!!!!!! T. O. IS GOING TO HAVE A FIELD DAY WITH YOUR DB'S.

that was a miserable pass that was under thrown and the DB was sitting waiting for it to come down in his mitts. The carr apologists are incredible.

Please, you dudes criticized him last year for not looking downfield enough & not trusting his recievers to make a play on the ball, then when he does, you have the above statement. Other Teams do this all the time (Eli to Plax all day last week anyone?), Is it his fault Kubes & Co. had Walter & Sheppard on the field? It was probably mean't as deception anyway; having your 3rd ,4th wideout on the field the defense relaxes thinking that you won't go deep with them. Furthermore you don't exactly have all the time in the world & only 1 Timeout left. I never said it was a "great" pass, didn't even say it was a "good" pass but you guys act like it was thrown on a frozen rope straight to wright. If Walter was any good, he could have at least touched the darn ball.

The Texans offense is void of any type of leadership and the defense is in the identical situation. Into year 5, Carr still can't find the snap from center and balls are still being batted down by the opposition. We still have a rookie quarterback. No, it's not all his fault, but he should take his large share of the blame. How can the Texans win games with these deficiencies? I say 5 - 11.

At this point our offensive line is horrible. We have no running game to speak of. Our defensive line applies absolutely no pressure, Mario Williams has shown nothing. Our linebackers and corners are average but with no pressure from the D-line they can't perform at all. Dunta Robinson is the only bright spot on defense, and Demeco Ryans.

I love this team but it seems like we fixed nothing. Thank god rockets season is almost here

Just a question I have, is there no way we can get a real HB. I thought getting dayne would work, so far no dice, I thought Gado showed promise, but he isnt being given the chance. I think we will continue to loose until we get a decent runner, or someone who is at least percieved as one. Is there no number 2 back in the league that may be ready to be featured available, right now it seems like we have 3 number 3s.

how can you assess a running game that wasn't used in the 2nd half?

I absolutely agree! It all boils down to leadership, and respect. It doesn't appear like there is anyone on the Texans offense that has stepped into that leadership position. David Carr is talented, and in an established offense could probably step in and be all pro, but maybe he's not cut out for the situation he's in.
Everyone admitted in the pre-season games that Antowain Smith brought the intangibles to the field, leadership and experience, and then they cut him and keep Morency and Taylor who were then traded and cut. I don't understand the management call on that one. I realize pre-season may not mean a whole lot, but we looked decent in pre-season, and now...well, now here we are again.

I love this team, and I'll continue to support them til the going gets good.:crutch:

My 2 cents.

I think that sums it up... no leadership on either side of the ball.

First of all, Ron Dayne was not the problem yesterday. Giving up 400 yards of offense to the Washington Redskins was the problem.

Dayne has been actually pretty good compared to what we had. DD is not healthy and we didn't draft RBush, so I think picking up Dayne was a good move. He rushed for 4.1 a carry yesterday which isn't half bad. Gado apparently hasn't gotten the offense yet, so there really aren't any options out there fo rthe Texans. Name me a free agent out there who is a better option than Dayne, and I'll say Dayne is a problem. We have far more pressing concerns. Namely:

- Putting pressure on aging quarterbacks.
- Putting in a blitzing pressure package to defend the run and pass.
- Getting out of hideous prevent defenses with 9 seconds to go in the half and allowing a 30 yard touchdown on a simple trap.
- Finding a #3 wide receiver and a servicable #4 who can be on the field in 3rd and 9 instead of a fullback and two tight ends.
- Fining boneheaded defensive linemen who take cheap shots at quarterbacks when your team is running back a fumble for a touchdown.

Ron Dayne is not on the radar in pressing concerns.

Yesterday's loss was really disheartening. I really thought we had a chance to win this game. Started of well enough but it all fell apart. Even after they came back to tie the game I thought we still have a good chance of winning. But that Portis run to end the half was killer. Absolute disaster. The defense is horrible. And don't talk about how much better it could've been if we drafted Bush or Young. Unless those two can play run stuffing defense or pass rush they wouldn't help us win. And I was a draft Bush guy! The Texans made us think that the defense really improved over the off season but it's gotten worse! Why does Richard Smith keep running away?! This guy basically scolded everyone in draft day so where is he now? How will the players respond if their coaches are like this??? The offense showed competence but once again too many mistakes. But this loss fall squarely on the shoulders of the defense. Even if they played average defense we could've won this game. But now I'm not sure when we get our first win. I'm hoping it's against Miami but if we could've provide pressure on a 36 year old qb how the hell will we stop a big, mobile qb like Culpepper?

I agree with the second part of your statement wholeheartedly. As for the first about Dayne. It's not that I think dayne is a bad back for the team, he was grinding it out on the field and looks like a work horse. The only thing is that we need a burst every once and a while, someone to cut up field and run, which I hear is our running plan. I guess I'm a bit premature in writing off the running game, but I was frustrated after seeing how well portis and betts did. The defense is more the pressing concern, your right about that.

No question about the burst or lack thereof with Dayne. Definitely need a more explosive back. But for what he is and what he does and what he is capable of doing, I think Dayne is doing the best he can with the tools he has.
