What?! I though that was the main goal for a WR?
I understand that a good WR has to do other things as well (such as running good routes, knowing the offense, blocking well, etc.) but the main component IS catching everything thrown to him.
I just wish we could've seen more of him on the field. I don't know about you, but I would MUCH rather have seen a guy that catches everything thrown to him (Armstrong) on the field instead of someone who drops everything thrown to him (Bradford.)

stevo3883 said:think of it this way, you can find an offensive lineman who can run good routes and has good hands, the key is being able to get seperation from coverage.
Armstrong just can't get good seperation, and gaffney isnt very good at it either. They're both possession guys all the way, but they're too small to get jump balls like most possession guys.
AustinJB said:I know you're being a little facetious w/ the Olinemen thing, but I get the point.
My point is this: How do you KNOW that Armstrong doesn't get good seperation? I havent' seen him play enough to determine that. Have you?
And even if Armstrong and Gaffney don't get good seperation, they can CATCH....A factor that was absent w/ "Dropford" in the game. Honestly, I think I would have rather seen an Olinemen w/ good hands in the game instead of Dropford.
Wharton said:I hope Mathis steps in as the no. 2 receiver so Gaffney should be expendable. He's been a good player for us so it would be regretable to see him go.
Gaffney is 6'1", and Armstrong is taller than him.stevo3883 said:Armstrong just can't get good seperation, and gaffney isnt very good at it either. They're both possession guys all the way, but they're too small to get jump balls like most possession guys.

aj. said:Adding a caveat to my comment above, there could be some things going on behind the scenes such as a delay in negotiations while the teams and players union play wait and see if the free agency period gets pushed back because of the CBA and owners talks.
