I represented the Texans for the first two rounds of the jaguars.com Mock Draft. Results posted here for evaluation at how I defended our honor!

So, after 2 rounds and many trades, the Houston Texans have:

Traded away SS Eric Brown, SS Glenn Earl will take over #1 spot (#13 + Brown + 4th for #6 + #58 from Titans).

Traded #6 + #73 + #78 for #25 + #56 + DE Trevor Pryce (trade bait so that I could complete ...)

Traded Pryce + 56 for #31, #59, #63, #77 (3 party trade with Philly and Atlanta)

Traded for 3-4 NT Ed Jasper (in the 3-way trade above), who will provide experienced depth behind resigned FA Seth Payne.

Traded #31 and #77 for #18 (Denver)

Traded #18 and #63 for #11 (Dallas)

Traded down from #25 to #35 + 4th round #122 and WR (Atlanta picked Elton Brown in the 25 spot, I landed Baas at 35)

Traded for WR Dez White (In the above trade down), who will compete for the #2 and #3 WR spot with the departure of FA #2 WR Bradford

Drafted:

At #11, Adam "Pac-Man" Jones, who will start at nickel back with Dunta Robinson and Aaron Glenn at #1 and #2 CB and Demarcus .gins at #4, each of the four would have some claim to being the best player in the NFL at their depth spot.

At #35, David Baas, OG/C, who will replace whichever of the two under-performing linemen (C McKinney and RG Wiegert) he beats out in training camp.

At #50, Kevin Everett, who will start at TE, moving Billy Miller into competition with Jabbar Gaffney and Dez White for the #2 WR spot.

At #58, NT/DE Luis Castillo who will provide depth at all Dline spots in preparation for taking over for Seth Payne or Gary Walker.

A few other fun tidbits from this draft:

- I was not the most trade-happy GM in it!

- I wasn't even the most trade-happy in the AFC South!

- The Tennessee Titans GM immediately announced that he was in cap hell, and could not field a team that would make a Super Bowl run. Therefore, he was determined to have cap hell last only one year, by trading everyone with salaries above 3mil except Bulluck and Hopkins for draft picks to get highly rated rookies.

- Titans players traded included McNair ('girls), Mason ('skins), Rolle ('skins), Chris Brown ('fins), Tank Williams (falcs), Hayneswoth ('skins), Carlos Hall ('girls) and Fred Miller (don't remember) - he actually had all the cap info for the dead money and pulled this off very well

- The Vikings traded Randy Moss to the Cowboys for #20, Terrance Newman and another pick, I forget which one. They got into the #6 spot and drafted ... Thomas Davis???

- Philly traded half their draft (mostly to me!) to grab Derrick Johnson at #2.

- The Cardinals traded their 1st and 2nd round picks to Green Bay for Ahman Green.

Traded for 3-4 NT Ed Jasper (in the 3-way trade above), who will provide experienced depth behind resigned FA Seth Payne.
Ed Jasper retired after the NFC Championship game.
"I ain't coming back," Jasper told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. "You start getting up in age, and this was the hardest [training] camp I ever went through. And you look at guys like Reggie White, it's just rough, man. Football's a hard sport.

White died last month of a heart attack.

"Do you know how hard a strain it is on a big man?," added Jasper, who also endured major back surgery late in the spring of 2003.
